Don’t Trust Your Doctor! Do you know what to do when a loved one gets sick? Or, do you know how to handle medical information that a doctor gives you? And furthermore, can you trust what your doctor tells you? Medicine the Dirty Profession is a real-life story of a medical doctor who stumbled in the dirt of the medical profession while trying to achieve his dreams. Through this book, Dr. Nabil Basanti exposes incidents and episodes from his heroic medical practice in an underdeveloped country, to the dirty and greedy medical environment in the civilized world. In Medicine the Dirty Profession, you will learn: • Behind the scenes knowledge of how some doctors are practicing. • How to prepare for an appointment with a doctor or specialist by equipping yourself with tools to keep you safe and guide you to receive the best treatment when you, or your loved ones, get sick. • The real reason why wait-times for receiving an MRI are so long. A story of triumph over adversity, Dr. Basanti informs the reader of what is happening in the medical profession and advises on how to navigate the medical environment with honest and horrifying examples from his own experience in the field and how these were diligently handled.

Doctors And Paintings written by John Middleton and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-08-11 with Medical categories.

This work includes forewords by Sir Liam Donaldson and Peter Wheeler, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health; Dean, College of Fine Arts, University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Appreciating art can help doctors build empathy with patients and reduce stress. By stimulating thought and reflection through paintings, this concise and engaging text invites readers to examine their motivation, their profession and their world. This exciting new book provides vital refreshment for doctors and medical students, lecturers and tutors in medical humanities, and healthcare professionals with mentoring roles. "John and Erica Middleton guide the reader gently along the interface between art and medicine, in their own inimitable style. Whether in search of an introduction to the world of art, or wishing to consider the role that the formal study of art might play in professional development, reading this book is likely to prove rewarding. Turning these pages will help doctors to appreciate afresh the window through which they look upon the world" - Sir Liam Donaldson, in his Foreword. "Great art provides insights into the human condition. If through a systematic engagement with art and literature as an extension of their medical practice, GPs can apply those insights to themselves (know thyself), they can equally apply them when dealing with patients. Doctors and patients are people, subjects. Intersubjectivity is perhaps a better word than empathy to define what this book seeks to promote, the capacity of the doctor to enter into and inhabit the patient's subjectivity" - Peter Wheeler, in his Foreword.

'With intelligence and keen insight based on extensive clinical, organisational and life experience, Drs Leanne Rowe and Michael Kidd deliver a powerful wake-up call to doctors. Writing with warmth and empathy but no holds barred, they ask us to 'get our own house in order' for the benefit of all involved. I believe that doctors throughout the world will appreciate their efforts and resonate with the quality and character of the work'. Professor David Bennett, The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Australia 'Every Doctor' is about thriving in medicine at a time of massive advances and changes in global health systems and medical services. A medical career requires personal fortitude, courage and humility, and this invaluable book shares practical solutions to inevitable challenges through the stories and wisdom of experienced doctors. The authors recognise that while individual resilience is essential, so is the ability to influence change by challenging negative medical cultures and 'out of touch' models of leadership. By collaborating, every doctor can: improve their physical and mental health to provide patient care of the highest standard; work with colleagues to create a healthier and happier medical culture; and lead and influence positive changes in their workplaces every day. The book is a must-read for doctors of all specialties at all stages of their careers wherever they practise in the world, because exemplary care of patients, peers, profession and self is a lifelong journey.

It was Alan Scott's mother who emphasized the notion that doctors were the same as God; one healed the body and the other the mind and soul. Believing that until he got older, he soon came to realize that some in the medical profession were vacant of honesty, sense, warmth, or understanding. This was learned through unnecessary pain, poor diagnosis, poorly mannered doctors and staff members. We are being over-medicated and over-tested. When the public sees ads about medications (especially new ones) that are more negative than positive, why is the FDA passing them through in the first place? You will find many of the problems and complaints in this book as well as what people can do to counteract them.

The Lady Doctor written by Ian Williams and has been published by Myriad Editions this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-31 with Medical categories.

The Lady Doctor is the follow-up companion graphic novel to Ian Williams's critically acclaimed debut, The Bad Doctor (Myriad, 2014). Dr Lois Pritchard is a salaried partner at Llangandida Health Centre with Drs Iwan James (subject of The Bad Doctor) and Robert Smith. She also works two days a week in the local Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) clinic. She is 40, currently single, despite the attentions of her many admirers, and is, by her own admission, 'not very good with relationships'. When her estranged mother makes a dramatic appearance on the scene, demanding a liver transplant, Lois has to confront her loyalties and make some hard decisions. From the moment we see Dr Lois nipping out behind the surgery for a fag, we know we are in for a behind-the-scenes warts-and-all comedy drama. We meet a patient who regrets the Pinocchio face he had tattooed on his genitals; a man who resorts to desperate measures after being driven mad by his neighbours' cats, and a prescription drug addict who plans to sue his previous doctors for failing to refuse him the drugs he demanded. Drugs – prescription, recreational, legal (coffee, alcohol, tobacco) – and behaviours and attitudes surrounding them – are a hot topic at Llangandida Health Centre. Hardening government attitudes towards drugs and addiction, and patients' demands to benefit from the re emergence of psychedelic therapeutic research, don't make a doctor's life any easier, but Williams explores current medical issues and ethics with his trademark lightness of touch and wonderfully sly sense of humour, using his own experience as a practising GP to recreate the lives of both patients and health service practitioners.

If you've ever gotten wrapped up in the arcana of "E.R." or "House," or been absorbed by a piece in The New Yorker by Gawande, Groopman, or Nuland, or sat on that exam table wondering what's really going on in your doctor's head, then this book is for you. Expertise versus commonsense practice; moral judgments on young patients or their parents; asking tough questions; death and physician-assisted suicide; daily life with a doctor's job (yours or a family member's); doctors as patients-Klass addresses the primary issues in the life of any doctor and, by extension, the lives of those for whom they care. Perri Klass, M.D., is a writer, teacher, pediatrician, and mentor. In her frequent contributions to the New York Times, she takes on a host of issues particular to the life of a doctor-secrecy, ethics, fear, grief, and competition-with a warmth and wit her readers have come to love. Now, in the newest addition to Basic's Art of Mentoring series, she offers her guidance, and her stories, to a new generation of doctors and readers.
