Jack Stone always dreamed about fitting in with the crowd, and being the most popular guy in school that girls would drool over when he walked down the halls. Jack was really smart when it came to his studies but was frowned upon by other classmates because he only had to put a little effort into making an A in class. Jack was also the guy to go to when it came to computers. He was definitely what you would call a nerd, but Jack didn't care what other classmates thought about him, he just wanted to be popular. Jack's life was about to change when he saw how everyone in the school hovered around Mark Edwards the school's most popular guy who would snap his fingers and the girls would come running. Every day Jack would come up to Mark and ask if he could hang out with him so he could be popular with the girls, but Mark just ignored him or told him to buzz off. Then Mark finally had all he could take with Jack pestering him daily. Mark said, "Come here!" and Jack came up to him with excitement on his face thinking Mark would entertain the thought of them becoming best friends, but that wasn't going to happen. Jack could barely get any words out of his mouth when Mark grabbed him with both hands on the collar of his shirt, spit in his face, threw him to the floor, and said "If you bother me one more time, you'll wish you were never born. Got it! Now get lost and leave me alone you stupid little twerp." Jack got off the floor and said "You'll pay for this!"

When Victims Become Killers written by Mahmood Mamdani and has been published by Princeton University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002-09 with History categories.

"Rejecting easy explanations of the genocide as a mysterious evil force that was bizarrely unleashed, one of Africa's best-known intellectuals situates the tragedy in its proper context. He coaxes to the surface the historical, geographical, and political forces that made it possible for so many Hutu to turn so brutally on their neighbors. He finds answers in the nature of political identities generated during colonialism, in the failures of the nationalist revolution to transcend these identities, and in regional demographic and political currents that reach well beyond Rwanda. In so doing, Mahmood Mamdani broadens understanding of citizenship and political identity in postcolonial Africa." "Mamdani's analysis provides a foundation for future studies of the massacre. His answers point a way out of crisis : a direction for reforming political identity in central Africa and preventing future tragedies."--Résumé de l'éditeur.

Oliver trails DI Langham on the investigation, hoping they catch the killers sooner rather than later--before more bodies turn up, eviscerated, so wrecked they're barely recognisable...

Trained To Kill written by Theodore Nadelson and has been published by JHU Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-05-18 with Psychology categories.

In two decades of clinical work with Vietnam veterans, psychiatrist Theodore Nadelson sought to understand a seeming paradox about his patients: even veterans being treated for post traumatic stress disorder often still felt attracted to the danger and violence of combat and killing. How this could be possible became a central focus of Nadelson's work and thought, as he looked to veterans' stories and within himself for pieces of the human puzzle. This compelling book is the result of that exploration. In it, Nadelson confronts a dark side of human psychology with sensitivity and depth, revealing startling truths about the allure of violence. Among the topics he addresses are the ways in which the concept of war shapes boys' lives from an early age, what happens when killing becomes a job, and how memories of the thrill of combat affect a soldier after the war is over. He probes the aftermath of September 11, including the historic implications of women's experience in the military. A veteran himself, the author weaves together insights from his own clinical and military experience and from the moving narratives of former soldiers with his thoughtful analysis of readings from world literature to answer tough questions: What does our attraction to killing mean for the future of war and civilization? What implications does it have for the way we understand peacetime violence in our society?

The Lord's Resistance Army is Africa's most persistent and notorious 'terrorist' group. Led by the mysterious Joseph Kony, it has committed a series of horrific human rights abuses, including massacres and mutilations. Since the mid 1980s, it has abducted tens of thousands of people, including large numbers of children forced to train as fighters. The IC in 2005 issued warrants for Kony and his top commanders, and the United States is backing a military campaign against the group. But the LRA survives, continuing to inspire both fascination and fear. Authoritative but provocative, The Lord's Resistance Army provides the most comprehensive analysis of the group available. From the roots of the violence to the oppressive responses of the Ugandan government and the failures of the international community, this collection looks at this most brutal of conflicts in fascinating depth, and includes a remarkable first-hand interview with Kony himself.
