Like a rotten onion peeled away from itself, with seemingly no end to the many layers and stench; was the tragic truth, that four little ones and their torturous murders which set off a fire storm of fear, that for a time crippled a community and forever devastated their families; were, in the landscape of the underbelly of humanity where kings, thieves and killers dwelt; simply small pebbles thrown into its cold murky waters...causing a difficult inconvenient ripple...lost in the larger picture of hidden scandal and conspiracy, where the many monsters and a killer would never have to pay the fiddler for their dance with the devil; or feel the hard hand of justice...

Michael Snow written by Michael Snow and has been published by Yale University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with Photography, Artistic categories.

Canadian filmmaker and artist Michael Snow (b. 1928) is known as a pioneer of conceptualist and multimedia practice. His seminal film Wavelength (1967), described as a "45-minute zoom," investigates the relationship between time and space, a subject the artist has explored throughout his career in a variety of mediums. Although considered one of the most important experimental filmmakers of his generation, Snow is less known in the United States for his visual art, including photography. Michael Snow: Photo-Centric focuses on a selection of the artist's photographic work from 1962 to the present. The book considers Snow's interest in late modernism's self-reflexivity and, specifically, his exploration of how the mechanics of photography affect perception, cognition, and consciousness. Essays by Adelina Vlas and the artist himself consider the importance of Snow's photographic work within his larger practice, its connection with and continuation of modernist ideas, and its experimental quality within the history of the medium. Published in association with the Philadelphia Museum of Art Exhibition Schedule: Philadelphia Museum of Art (02/01/14-04/27/14) Additional venues TBD.

Horse Photography written by Carol J. Walker and has been published by Greenleaf Book Group this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with Nature categories.

Why photograph horses? Because, in the words of author Carol Walker, they "fill our hearts", and capturing them on film or in digital images expresses that relationship. We want to catch and hold -- and show -- their spirit, their tremendous joy in living, their unique personalities, and of course, their incomparable beauty. And we want the quality of our images to honour our glorious subjects. Photographing horses presents a double challenge, the first being the technical aspects -- the lenses, the setting, the light and speed, and how all those relate to the subject. The second element is more elusive; it is horse knowledge -- the educated ability to see how a horse moves, sense its moods, and understand its psychology as a prey animal. This book presents the tools to master both technique and subject matter. More than that, the book will stir your creativity and inspire you to spend more time focusing on these animals you admire. Carol Walker has travelled the world photographing animals for almost 30 years, and since 2000 has concentrated on horses, including the object of her greatest passion, America's wild horses. Carol's stunning images illuminate the relationship between horses and their people, as well as showcase the beauty of horses at liberty. She teaches equine photography workshops for amateurs, and her commercial work includes fine art, magazine covers, and calendars. Her first book, "Wild Hoofbeats: America's Vanishing Wild Horses" is in its second printing and has won numerous awards for the quality of images and evocative writing. This book will be the reference of choice for any photographer aspiring to do justice to that most appealing of animals, the horse.
