Henry Ford was an American commander of industry and a business head honcho, the originator of the Ford Motor Company, and the patron of the improvement of the mechanical production system procedure of large scale manufacturing. In spite of the fact that Ford did not create the vehicle or the sequential construction system, he created and produced the main car that many white collar class Americans could bear. In doing as such, Ford changed over the car from a costly interest into a reasonable transport that would significantly affect the scene of the twentieth century. His presentation of the Model T car upset transportation and American industry. As the proprietor of the Ford Motor Company, he wound up noticeably one of the wealthiest and best-known individuals on the planet. He is credited with "Fordism": large scale manufacturing of cheap merchandise combined with high wages for laborers. Portage had a worldwide vision, with consumerism as the way to peace. His serious responsibility regarding methodicallly bringing down expenses brought about numerous specialized and business developments, including an establishment framework that put dealerships all through a large portion of North America and in significant urban areas on six mainlands. Passage left the vast majority of his tremendous riches to the Ford Foundation and masterminded his family to control the organization forever.Mary (White) Rowlandson was a colonial American woman who was captured during an attack by Native Americans during King Philip's War and held ransom for 11 weeks and 5 days. "It was my hope to produce a book that would not only have some historical interest, but would be useful for those in public life, in educational work, in preparation for citizenship, and would be especially a book that parents would wish their children to read." —President Calvin Coolidge on his autobiography Today Americans of all backgrounds are on the hunt for a different political model. In fact, such a model awaits them, if only they turn their eyes to their own past . . . to America's thirtieth president, Calvin Coolidge. Coolidge's masterful autobiography offers urgent lessons for our age of exploding debt, increasingly centralized power, and fierce partisan division. This expanded and annotated volume, edited by Coolidge biographer Amity Shlaes and authorized by the Coolidge family, is the definitive edition of the text that presidential historian Craig Fehrman calls "the forgotten classic of presidential writing." To read this volume is to understand the tragic extent to which historians underrate President Coolidge. The Coolidge who emerges in these pages is a model of character, principle, and humility—rare qualities in Washington, then as now. A man of great faith, Coolidge told Americans: "Men do not make laws. They do but discover them." Although he emphasized economics, Coolidge insisted on the importance of "things of the spirit." At the height of his popularity, he chose not to run again when his reelection was all but assured. In this autobiography, Coolidge explains his mindset: "It is a great advantage to a President, and a major source of safety to the country, for him to know that he is not a great man." For all his modesty, Coolidge left an expansive legacy—one we would do well to study today. Shlaes and coeditor Matthew Denhart draw out the lessons from Coolidge's life and career in an enlightening introduction and annotations to Coolidge's text. To aid Coolidge scholars young and old, the editors have also assembled nearly three dozen photographs, several of Coolidge's greatest speeches, a timeline of Coolidge's life, and afterwords by former Vermont governor James H. Douglas and two of Coolidge's great-grandchildren, Jennifer Coolidge Harville and Christopher Coolidge Jeter. This autobiography combats the myths about one of our most misunderstood presidents. It also shows us how much we still have to learn from Calvin Coolidge.

Risk Based Thinking Handbook written by William A. Levinson and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-10-15 with categories.

This pocket guide is an excellent bridge between risk-based thinking and operational risk management. As a risk management practitioner with the Department of Defense I find it's not that easy to set up a formal management structure to support risk analysis and it's a much larger challenge to obtain and sustain the "risk mindset" that's needed by all in the value chain to effectively and continuously identify and manage operational risk. For example, many organizations routinely perform a SWOT analysis but often fail at carrying the threats and opportunities into frequent and critical decision-making events thus increasing risk to operations, stakeholders, and customers.Mr. Levinson makes the link between risk-based thinking and risk management through a comprehensive coverage of pro-active risk thinking coupled with risk management principles and guidelines with emphasis on preventive-based methodologies. He's done an excellent job of explaining the role of waste (from the LEAN perspective) and how it can increase risk to organizations who fail to "see and think" that the many forms of waste are a source of operational risk to the organization. Of key interest is his explanation of external risks driven from external forces such as economic conditions, cultural differences, conflicting value systems, and the high-speed changing environments of technology and consumer demand. He provides historic and highly relevant examples ranging from world trade and global markets to national defense. This guidebook flows very well. All concepts and methodologies are well supported and linked to associate management standards (ISO 9001 & 31000).If you're an organization that wants to raise its level of risk-based awareness across the enterprise then give every member a copy of this pocket guide and don't stop there! Add this to your strategic objectives: Get grokked on risk-based thinking!

Dr. Tilly Edinger's first published paper dealt with a brain cast-in more exact terms an endocast of the cranial cavity-of Noth08auru8, a Triassic relative of the plesiosaurs. With this she embarked on a working lifetime of devotion to paleoneurology, a field of study that she was to transform. A daughter of the famous neurologist Ludwig Edinger, it was appropriate as well as fortunate that her early interest in fossil vertebrates should have become focused upon the recovery of such information concerning the history of the central nervous system as could be obtained from fossil material. Her father evidently had no direct influence upon her choice of· this then obscure and difficult subject, although within the family circle she presumably absorbed from him some appreciation of neoneurology. Indirectly, however, through his accumulation in Frankfurt of an outstanding collection of recent brains, he provided the comparative material essential to her studies during the years she spent there. Early in her career she published Die FOBsilen Gehirne (1929). Here was gathered together for the first time nearly all the widely scattered information on the topic. It had an immediate effect. As one author justly remarked, this "invaluable review . . . serves not only as a basis for continuing and systematizing research on brain casts but also as an indication of the more serious gaps in present knowledge" (Simpson, 1933). The bibliography appended to it listed 250 titles. A bibliography she published in 1937 included 160 additional titles.
