After a New Jersey priest has a near-death experience he begins to resemble the image depicted on the Shroud of Turin, prompting a skeptical Vatican representative to investigate the claim and subsequently question the assumptions he has held for so long. THE PRIEST… Brought back to life on an operating room table, Father Paul Bartholomew is haunted by visions of Christ as Golgotha. Then, as he celebrates Mass, blood starts running down his arms. The horrified congregation watches him collapse, his vestments soaked in the blood pouring from wounds on his wrists. Mysteriously, he now resembles in almost every physical aspect the Christ-like figure represented on the Shroud of Turin. THE SKEPTICS… Worried lest Bartholomew’s case be proved a hoax, the Vatican employs two prominent scientists to investigate. Dr. Stephen Castle, an American psychiatrist, is renowned for his book arguing that religion is a figment of human imagination. Professor Marco Gabrielli, an Italian religious researcher and chemist, has made a career of debunking supposed miracles, of explaining the unexplainable. THE MIRACLE… For centuries, the Shroud of Turin has defied science. Is this ancient remnant truly Christ’s burial cloth, or the biggest fraud ever perpetrated? When the priest’s uncanny resemblance to the picture on the Shroud prompts Castle and Gabrielli to investigate the artifact itself, each is finally forced to face mysteries reason alone cannot explain—in a journey of discovery that plumbs the farthest reaches of science and the human spirit.

Unlocking The Secrets Of The Shroud written by Gilbert R. Lavoie and has been published by Dog Ear Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-02-29 with Religion categories.

One of the first books written in the U.S. since 1988 that presents the Shroud of Turin as the authentic burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth. The author, a medical doctor, takes us on a scientific and scriptural search (with more than 70 revealing photographs) that allows us to decide for ourselves whether the ancient cloth has any meaning for us today. A companion video that traces the story of the shroud from Turin to Jerusalem is also available. In 1961, while poking around in a used bookstore in Boston, Lavoie stumbled across a paperback called A Doctor at Calvary, by French surgeon Pierre Barbet. As Lavoie thumbed through the pages, he discovered that Barbet was writing not about Jesus' crucifixion but about the Shroud of Turin, a piece of cloth that contained the bloody image of a naked man. Thus began Lavoie's 30-year quest to uncover the true origins of the Shroud and to reveal its mysteries. In this well-told scientific and theological detective story, Lavoie offers a step-by-step account of his attempts to prove that the Shroud of Turin could well have been the shroud that covered Jesus as he was taken from his cross to his tomb. In order to show that the marks on the cloth are indeed blood stains, Lavoie discusses the nature of blood as it clots, especially when those clots are covered with cloth. Through various experiments, he is able to conclude: "blood clots transfer to cloth as mirror images of themselves; the neatness of the transfers is related to the fact that the man of the shroud died in the vertical position; the time the clots take to transfer to cloth coincide closely with the gospel timetable of the death and burial of Jesus." Lavoie is on his firmest footing when he sticks to his scientific theories, but when he begins to argue in the final chapters that John's gospel and letters indicate that John possessed the shroud and was hiding it from his audience, he treads shakier speculative ground.

Two decades after radiocarbon dating declared the Turin Shroud a mediaeval fake, brand-new historical discoveries strongly suggest that this famous cloth, with its extraordinary photographic imprint, is genuinely Christ's shroud after all. In 1978 in his international bestseller The Turin Shroud Ian Wilson ignited worldwide public debate with his compelling case endorsing the shroud's authenticity. Now, 30 years later, he has completely rewritten and updated his earlier book to provide fresh evidence to support his original argument. Shroud boldly challenges the current post-radiocarbon dating view - that it is a fake. By arguing his case brilliantly and provocatively, Ian Wilson once more throws the matter into the public arena for further debate and controversy.

Art investigator Madison Dupre knew the offer was too good to be true: $20,000 for a quick trip to Dubai, the fantastic Arabian Nights city on the Persian Gulf. The call came from Sir Henri Lipton, a man who was supposed to be dead—and who she sincerely had hoped was burning in hell because he had ruined her career before his violent "demise." He told her only one tantalizing thing about the piece of art: "Let's just say it's a couple thousand years old and was buried with Christ." The fact the offer came from a man wanted on three continents for art looting was fair warning that there would be a catch. But with credit collectors and an avaricious landlord pounding at her door, Madison listened when the devil whispered magic words in her ear: $20,000– cash – upfront. There was a catch, of course. A number of them. Sir Henri was up to his neck in conspiracies and needed someone to deflect the danger onto—not to mention frame for the most audacious art theft in history. Dubai, a city that has been called Las Vegas on steroids, would just be the first stop for Madison on a quest that takes her to an ancient Mesopotamian city, the dark streets of exotic Istanbul, Venice at Carnival time, and a cathedral where the most sacred object of Christendom is stored. Along the way, she finds romance in the arms of a Russian agent who she doesn't trust—and can't resist. August 2000 marked an unusual event in history: the new millennium's first public exhibition of the Holy Shroud of Turin. Only the fifth exhibition since 1898 and commemorating the Jubilee anniversary of the birth of Jesus, the event in Italy attracted millions of people world-wide. In this book Mark Antonacci scientifically challenges earlier radiocarbon testing and presents new evidence in determining the Shroud's true age. In addition, he provides the first scientific explanation and demonstration of the cause of the image of the man on the Shroud. Despite centuries of efforts from people of different backgrounds throughout the world, this extraordinary image has never been adequately explained -- until now. Based on extensive research of both the author's twenty years of analysis and the findings of scientists commissioned by the author, this work provides scientific and concrete evidence that The Shroud of Turin was indeed used to wrap the body of the historical Jesus Christ.

The Turin Shroud is the most important and studied relic in the world. Many papers on it have recently appeared in important scientific journals. Scientific studies on the relic until today fail to provide conclusive answers about the identity of the enveloped man and the dynamics regarding the image formation impressed therein. This book not only
