La autora parte del hecho de que aún existen algunos vacíos en las investigaciones metalexicográficas: a pesar de su importancia histórica y práctica, la metodología y la teoría del diccionario bilingüe no han alcanzado aún la importancia que se le da a la lexicografía monolingüe. Esto afecta también a los problemas relacionados con la interdependencia entre las estructuras gramaticales de una lengua, las estructuras textuales del diccionario y la información gramatical que se encuentra en éste. Una situación especial se plantea en la lexicografía bilingüe para el par de lenguas español/alemán, que hasta ahora sólo ha sido objeto de estudio ocasionalmente y en la teoría de la metalexicografía en lengua española, en cuyo ámbito aún es necesaria la incorporación de términos importantes. Las funciones y las estructuras textuales del diccionario bilingüe son el eje alrededor del que se desarrolla el presente estudio sobre gramática en el diccionario bilingüe y son el hilo conductor tanto de los planteamientos teóricos como del análisis empírico de varios diccionarios español/alemán y de las propuestas que componen el trabajo.

Since the publication of the still very valuable Biblioteca histórica de la filología by Cipriano Muñoz y Manzano, conde de la Viñaza (Madrid, 1893), our knowledge of the history of the study of the Spanish language has grown considerably, and most manuscript and secondary sources had never been tapped before Hans-Josef Niederehe of the University of Trier courageously undertook the task to bring together any available bibliographical information together with much more recent research findings, scattered in libraries, journals and other places. BICRES I covered the period from the early beginnings to 1600), followed by BICRES II (1601–1700), BICRES III (1701–1800), and together with Miguel Ángel Esparza Torres of Madrid there followed BICRES IV (1801 to 1860). Now, the fifth volume, has become available, covering the years from 1861 to 1899. Access to the bibliographical information of altogether 5,272 titles is facilitated by several detailed indexes, such as a short title index, a listing of printers, publishers and places of production, and an author index. Los diccionarios actuales de espanol que dicen ocuparse del "contorno" de los predicados lo hacen de una manera bastante irregular. En este trabajo, ofrecemos una clasificacion del verbo espanol desde la perspectiva de la lexico-sintaxis, y una propuesta de como definir las entradas verbales atendiendo a su estructura argumental y tematica. Partimos del supuesto de que los predicados son unidades complejas con valor no solo referencial sino tambien y fundamentalmente gramatical (sintactico), de modo que las definiciones de dichas unidades en los diccionarios deberian traducir fielmente tales contenidos, en la medida en que ellos forman parte del lexicon de las lenguas. Este trabajo es el resultado del examen de 200 unidades lexicas en ocho diccionarios semasiologicos de espanol contemporaneo (1600 entradas, en total). Las definiciones que proponemos persiguen develar la red argumental completa de los verbos de nuestra lengua. El objetivo final de este trabajo es contribuir a mejorar la estructura de las definiciones lexicograficas en nuestros diccionarios y facilitar, consiguientemente, su comprension por parte de los usuarios ocasionales, nativos o extranjeros."
