Everyone deals in different ways with the rollercoaster of grieving. Sharon Stephens once had a beautiful world, and his name was Donnie. He meant more to her than her next breath. When her husband passed away, she started writing. And as she wrote down the story of her journey through grief, it became clear to her that she was writing for more than herself. She was also writing for others who have lost loved ones, to help them along their path to healing. It doesn't matter if our loss was sudden or if long-term illness took our loved one. The fact is, they are not here, and we are left behind. We are hurting, and often in disbelief. Sometimes we can't think straight. We get caught up in own heads, dwelling on everything we've lost. We try to push forward but seem to end up right back where we started. That's normal, and it's okay. There are steps and seasons to the whole process. We have to be kind to ourselves and know that we are not alone in facing this difficult time. Get counseling. There is always help available for people who are grieving. For anyone who has suffered loss. And write. Try writing down your own experiences and feelings. Sharon even talked to Donnie, which always put her mind at ease. Get a picture of your loved one and talk to them. Tell them how you feel inside. And ask for guidance from above. Whatever your beliefs in a higher power, whether you call that power God, the universe, or whatever, ask for strength and guidance. Don't just close yourself off and let darkness take over. Your loved one would not want that. They would want you to live in happiness, with joy and love surrounding you. There will be tears for sure. Let them out. Then take a deep breath and be thankful for life. Keep moving forward, no matter how small the step. Forward is still forward. With the help of your faith, family, and friends, you will be all right. This is the emotional and inspiring story of one woman's journey through loss, grief, and healing, her day-to-day process of dealing with the loss of her husband. By offering up her story, she hopes anyone reading it who is struggling to cope with loss feels less alone and more hopeful.

In 2016 her husband was injured while on his job. Over the next three years he underwent a neck surgery, a wide variety of therapies and treatments. Nothing helped ease the pain and numbness. In 2019 he went in for another neck surgery to replace the discs that had been replaced during his 2017 surgery. "Surgery went well, he is in recovery," is the word she received over the phone from the surgeon while in the waiting room of the hospital. Two days later her husband coded and although they were able to bring him back he was never responsive again. Other complications and set backs occurred over the next couple of weeks. Then the doctors told her she had a decision to make. It was the hardest decision she and her family had to make. They were all in agreement with what he would have wanted and with his family by his side, holding his hands, he died early on a Saturday afternoon. Her life changed forever at that moment. As a widow she had many decisions to make. A life to continue living, or not. She could have gotten lost in her own isolation. She could have drowned in her own sorrow and become stuck in the stages of grief. Instead, this is her story of how she took this new way of life and living by the horns and faced each day with a positive attitude. This is her story of moving forward through grief and how she progressed to find happiness, smiles and laughter within her first year. Her determination, the goals she set, her faith kept her going. In part two she details ways women, (and men) can also get through this tragedy that nearly everyone faces at some point in their lives. She offers ideas of how couples can prepare each other for the 'til Death do us part', of the wedding vows. While she admits in this book there is no way to prepare for the emotions one feels at that time in their life, she gives others hope and encouragement to be able to keep going and move forward.

This is the story of a real womans journey through two very difficult situations: surviving the loss of a spouse, and still managing to complete her PhD. Each one of these paths individually is challenging, but to walk them simultaneously is harrowing. Read a book that describes the circumstances leading to a relatively happy 30-something married mom becoming a single mom, student, and widow. See her evolution from dazed mourner to accomplished scholar and enjoy the quirky humor, poetry, and stories she shares along the way. This book will not provide you with the one answer to deal with grief, but it will reassure you that there are many things you can try on your own journey.

My Good Grief written by Cindyanne Kershaw and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-11-20 with Grief categories.

'My Good Grief', is not just a book about grief. It is a story about a woman's journey through sorrow and back into joy. It's a story that demonstrates the ability we have, to be all right, in spite of what life deals us. In 'My Good Grief', Cindyanne Kershaw tells about an unshakable belief in the goodness of life, and about a faith that transcends its sorrows, despite the deaths of her two husbands and a younger brother. 'My Good Grief', tells of her experiences with cancer, alcoholism and AIDS, and the way she lived through them. The stories and poetry convey how a journey through multiple losses can still be one of hope, and how life can still be full of joyful expectation. They also show how faith and love served as constants, and sustained her on a difficult path. 'My Good Grief', tells about the beauty of Nature as a healer, and the blessings of family, friends, children and grandchildren. Although it's a heart-wrenching story about loving and losing, it's also meant to be an inspirational story about discovering joy and delight in the midst of it all, and loving again and again.
