How did a first-generation Jewish messianic movement develop the momentum to become a dominant religious force in the Western world? The essays here first investigate the roots of God's mission and the mission of his people in the Old Testament and Second Temple Judaism, specifically in the Psalms, Isaiah, and Daniel. The contributions then discuss the mission of Jesus, and how it continued into the mission of the Twelve, other Jewish believers (in the Gospels, General Epistles, and Revelation), and finally into Paul's ministry to the Gentiles documented in the book of Acts and his epistles. These essays reach backward into the background of what was to become the Christian mission and forward through the New Testament to the continuing Christian mission and missions today.

"The Grounds of Christianity Examined by Comparing The New Testament with the Old" by George Bethune English George Bethune English was an American adventurer, diplomat, soldier, and convert to Islam. As a convert from Christianity, he was uniquely qualified to examine the religion. This book, written in the early 19th century, is among the first to seriously challenge that assertion in a detailed manner. It examines in depth the textual claims made in the New Testament for the fulfillment by Jesus of Old Testament prophecies, and offers substantive and serious counter-claims that cannot be lightly or easily dismissed.

God Is Not Like That written by Diana Spencer and has been published by Trafford Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-09-01 with Religion categories.

God is Not Like That challenges all Christians to think seriously about how the misunderstandings of the past are currently affecting Christianity worldwide. The work of the Reformation was never finished, because the various factions involved split apart from each other without finding any common resolution to the problems facing the medieval church. The conclusions reached in God is Not Like That have been formulated after years of deliberation, in an effort to stimulate thought and discussion among all denominations of Christianity today. Many problems that stem from these unresolved issues have been inherited by all denominations; for example, the author believes that the Athanasian Creed, while right in its original intent, has been misunderstood by everyone for many centuries. This has been compounded by the fact that for many years there have been growing doubts about the divinity of Christ and the doctrine of the Trinity, even among scholars and teachers, making it difficult for them to explain and defend the faith to an increasingly skeptical world. Meanwhile, its vocal critics do not realize that many of the ideas that they are challenging stem from mistaken assumptions from the past, not with the faith itself; it is urgent that these issues be examined and the distortions resolved. Diana Spencer is a retired Anglican priest, although the views expressed in this book are her own. It was written in the hope that all denominations of Christianity would think about, and discuss, the issues raised. Born in England in 1935, she came to Canada at the age of twenty-one, is widowed, and living in Victoria.
