An Outdoor Guidebook like no other. Most of us do not spend time in nature in ways that nurture us psychologically and spiritually. When we live our lives cut off from nature, we lose a great source of richness and vitality. Learn how our relationship with Mother Nature is greatly enhanced when we shift from viewing her as inert object to experiencing her as living subject. Developing a harmonious relationship with nature will not only open doors for connecting you with the natural world but also with the depths of your own inner nature. Communing with Nature shows you how to foster this kind of relationship. Over 80 activities in this book will break you out of your limited ways of relating to nature, develop your powers of awareness, and plunge you deeply into the mysteries of existence. Communing with Nature will help you: Develop your awareness as a tool for personal growth. Awaken your senses for connecting with nature. Use language to enhance rather than block relating to nature. Cultivate peak experiences in nature as a doorway to spiritual awakening. Explore relating to a variety of settings: ocean, mountain, desert, cave, and sky. Create retreats, walkabouts, pilgrimages, and vision quests that connect you to your own inner nature as you commune with the natural world. Over 100 inspirational quotations will sing to you of the glory of nature's wonders. Numerous stories will make communing with nature come alive for you, awakening your hunger for experiences of your own. In addition to the personal benefits of communing with nature, a growing number of environmental experts are telling us that the solution to our environmental problems is dependent upon a change in consciousness. Communing with Nature offers a path to awaken this consciousness person by person, a path that leads each of us into deep participation with the wonders of nature's beauty and wisdom. "John Swanson is that rare guide who not only shows us the terrain, but also sharpens our lenses, deepens our presence. In his company we can learn to merge with the natural world our larger body and experience the delight, reverence, and renewal that is our birthright." ---- Joanna Macy, author, Coming Back to Life: Practices to Reconnect Our Lives, Our World "Communing with Nature is an intelligent and deeply inspiring journey into the heart of the human-nature relationship. In a time when so much is at stake in our world, this ecopsychological guide for reconnecting with nature is a valuable resource for educators, therapists, wilderness guides and anyone who loves the earth. This wonderful book is filled with insightful theory, practical exercises, suggestions for using the exercises and examples of how the author has successfully applied them in his own teaching. I highly recommend this book. ---- Jed Swift, Director of the Center for Ecopsychology Naropa University, Boulder, Colorado

This book is about a malpractice lawsuit filed due to a wrongful death claim. My family was grateful and blessed to have won the maximum amount of damages permissible under Louisiana law. The verdict value of $950,000 was a sizable amount of money, but it in no way provided a scintilla of comfort toward the loss of my father. I would rather forfeit the money award damages to have him alive. It is my sincere desire that you the family, the medical practitioner, the law student or any persons of interest interested in becoming informed and empowered regarding all of their inalienable rights get a revelation by reading this book. Please use this book as a reference and education guide to assist you with getting through the laborious legal process via simplifying the process so that even a layperson can get their hands around the process and make it work in their favor.

When Ari Hahyar set out to learn to commune with nature, he knew little about botany or the mysticism of plants; he knew only the happiness he felt when he would leave his Santa Monica condo for a walk in the woods. In Hugging Trees in Los Angeles, Ari explores his neighborhood, the parks and mountains of the city, and natural areas as far away as the Philippines. He attends workshops, plants trees, listens to teachers steeped in the wisdom that comes from the wilderness, and takes inspiration from Thoreau's Walden as well as modern writings-some scientific, some environmental, some more spiritual in tone. He hopes to reach a level of direct communication with nature, and although that connection often eludes him, he discovers something even more profound: how the gift of exploration and wonder opens his heart and brings him access to his humanity.

A Year In The Woods written by Torbjørn Ekelund and has been published by Greystone Books Ltd this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-10-12 with Nature categories.

From the acclaimed author of In Praise of Paths comes a humorous and modest Walden for modern times. As nature becomes ever more precious, we all want to spend more time appreciating it. But time is often hard to come by. And how do we appreciate nature without disruption? In this sensitively-written book, Torbjørn Ekelund, an acclaimed Norwegian nature writer, shares a creative and non-intrusive method for immersing oneself in nature. And the result is nothing short of transformative. Evoking Henry David Thoreau and the four-season structure of Walden, Ekelund writes about communing with nature by repeating a small, simple ritual and engaging in quiet reflection. At the start of the book, he hatches a plan: to leave the city after work one day per month, camp near the same tiny pond in the forest, and return to work the next day. He keeps this up for a year. His ritual is far from rigorous and it is never perfect. One evening, he grows so cold in his tent that he hikes out before daybreak. But as Ekelund inevitably greets the same trees and boulders each month, he appreciates the banality of their sameness alongside their quiet beauty. He wonders how long they have stood silently in this place—and reflects on his own short existence among them. A Year in the Woods asks us to reconsider our relationship with the natural world. Are we anxious wanderers or mindful observers? Do we honor the seasons or let them pass us by? At once beautifully written, accessible, and engaging, A Year in the Woods is the perfect book for anyone who longs for a deeper connection with their environment, but is realistic about time and ambition.

Under The Open Skies written by Markus Torgeby and has been published by HarperCollins this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-11-17 with Self-Help categories.

THE INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER A guide for living outdoors and communing with the natural world—under the open skies. "I believe in sleeping outdoors, surrounded by tall fir trees, darkness and cold. Lying on my back and looking up at the stars, watching my breath form thin clouds." Under the Open Skies is one man’s perspective-shifting, immersive journey into the wilds of northern Sweden and into his own soul. For four years, Markus Torgeby lived alone in a hut he built with his hands in the Jämtland forest on the northern tip of Sweden, reconnecting with nature, and healing from the stress and strain of urban life and an athletic career derailed by injury. For Markus, living in the forest provided something concrete—cool winter air on his face, a cotton canvas of clouds overhead, wet clothes drying over the fire. Free from the constraints of modernity, his only responsibilities were the basics of survival—shelter, heat, food. Rooted on the ground under a bed of leaves, with his head finally aligned with his body, Markus found the solitude and silence he needed to be reborn. In this moving elegy, Markus offers lessons both practical—how to make fire, how to craft an outdoor bed, how to tap trees for water—and profound—what it means to become one with the natural world, to live authentically, to reconnect with yourself and your surroundings. Illustrated with 75 beautiful full-color photographs taken by his wife, Frida, Under the Open Skies is as invigorating as a long hike on a brisk morning and as sublime as a bowl of cinnamon porridge at the end of a long day. It is an invitation—to the stressed, disconnected, and lonely, to all who yearn to unplug and slow down, to those who wonder how life got so complicated—to come home to nature, to open the mind and heart to the wide-open sky.
