De nadruk ligt op bindweefselfuncties en -herstel en hoe die zijn te beïnvloeden. Deze zesde druk is inhoudelijk ingrijpend gewijzigd. De ontwikkelingen op het gebied van moleculaire biologie, histologie van celstructuren, maar ook de rol van fascievliezen als krachtdoorleidende structuren in het lichaam zijn hierin meegenomen. Ook het tensegrity-principe en recent onderzoek naar kraakbeen, bot en spierweefsel waren aanleiding tot een forse aanvulling en herstructurering van de inhoud van dit boek. Het nieuwe hoofdstuk 3 concentreert zich op het begrip bindweefselcontinuüm. De bestaande hoofdstukken verschuiven en er is veel tekst ingevoegd en gehergroepeerd. De auteur Jan Jaap de Morree heeft een aantal foto's gemaakt en toegevoegd bij illustraties van spierweefsel en peesweefsel. Het boek is geschreven voor studenten fysiotherapie, bewegingstherapie, manuele therapie, ergonomie en kinesitherapie aan hogescholen en universiteiten. Bij uitstek in domeinen met kinesiologische, biomechanische en ergonomische onderwerpen. Daarnaast is het boek een bron van informatie voor professionals in het werkveld.

En dan met name op het gebied van de anatomie en de rol van het fasciale systeem als kracht-geleidend en proprioceptief systeem. Hoofdstuk 2 gaat nu in op de embryologische ontwikkeling van bindweefsel en hoofdstuk 9 staat volledig in het teken van de diverse functies van het fasciale systeem. Ook zijn nieuwe foto's toegevoegd ter illustratie van spier-, pees-, en fasciaweefsel. Dynamiek van het menselijk bindweefsel is een goed aanknopingspunt om de juiste vorm van therapie te kunnen bepalen. Het laatste hoofdstuk helpt daar expliciet bij, daarin staan overwegingen om de therapeutische interventie te ondersteunen. Dynamiek van het menselijk bindweefsel heeft een nieuwe auteursteam. Jeroen Alessie is hogeschooldocent fysiotherapie. Ook is hij is coauteur van paramedische studieboeken. Karl Jacobs is voormalig fysiotherapeut, studeerde Functional and Clinical Anatomy en is als anatoom verbonden aan het Amsterdam UMC. Beide auteurs zijn ervaren sprekers op congressen en betrokken bij diverse bij- en nascholingen.

Neglected finger injuries may lead to chronic lesions that often have detrimental consequences for the practice of a ball sport, whether at a recreational level or at the top athlete level. The initial injury management is crucial. Depending on the type and the severity of the lesions, different people may get involved: the players themselves or their entourage, physiotherapists, club doctors, emergency physicians, family doctors, sports doctors or hand surgeons. Treatment is usually conservative: the long fingers require rapid mobilization to prevent stiffness and contrary to that, the thumb requires stability. Surgery may be necessary to reach these goals especially for athletes, because of the demands of their sport. Chronic lesions are also in part related to repeated trauma, requiring specialized long-term multidisciplinary treatment. They can often lead to the end of a sporting career, but also may limit the functionality of the fingers at the time of conversion.
