With this philosophy, understanding key physical properties is of paramount importance for the efficient design of sensing platforms that will meet target specifications. You will learn about the role of the fiber configuration and the functional coating on the properties of the resulting optrodes. You will also get an encompassing overview on all optical fiber configurations used for plasmonic sensing thus far, especially on the progress made over the last decade and rendering the technology compatible for use in real conditions. The book presents both fundamental aspects and advanced applications while focusing on recent and emerging fields of research, such as the use of tilted fiber Bragg gratings, the integration of sensors in situ, the use of smart interrogation techniques, and much more. This is a unique reference for both beginners and experts in optical fiber-based sensors, especially for industrial engineers working in biophotonics and biochemical sensing, as it presents state-of-the-art design procedures and sensing features. The book’s theoretical background combined with recent advances of plasmonic-based optical fiber technologies also make it highly beneficial for all researchers, academics, and students specialized or interested in this flourishing and promising discipline.

Mimo Signals And Systems written by Horst Bessai and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-10-28 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This text evolved from notes used to teach two-semester courses on multi-port signals and systems theory and vector-valued signal transmission to third-year electrical and computer engineering students. It is also based on the author's tutorial courses on the subject presented to practicing engineers in industry. The primary motivation has been to familiarize the reader with the essential tools and methods used to describe the dynamic behavior of electrical multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. The book shall provide a basic understanding of the fundamentals, implementation, and of MIMO techniques. For easier comprehension, these applications techniques, in conjunction with several "classic" algorithms, are illustrated by means of numerous worked examples. MATLAB, a matrix-oriented commercial software package with user-friendly interfaces and excellent graphics support, was chosen to perform numerical analyses. MATLAB is very easy to learn and de facto a worldwide standard programming language in universities and industry. End-of chapter problems are added to provide additional training opportunities and to reinforce the knowledge gained. Over the last decade, spurred by the invention of a series of fundamentally new wireless transmission concepts, MIMO theory has been transformed into one of the most vibrant and active research areas. Communications engineers continue to produce - at an unprecedented high speed - more accurate radio channel models. Spectral efficiencies of actually working systems are reported as high as 20 bits/s/Hz. Information theorists are eager to find more accurate formulas describing capacity bounds for communication systems with multiple transmit and/or receive antennas.

Ultrasonics International 93: Conference Proceedings presents a comprehensive account of the presentations given in the Ultrasonics International 93 conference. It discusses a blood flow mapping system using ultrasonic waves. It addresses the dynamical response functions of elastically anisotropic solids. Some of the topics covered in the book are the ultrasonic waves propagation in a liquid producing radicals; ultrasonic characterization of interfaces; surface acoustic wave measurements; line-focus-beam acoustic microscopy; investigation of fatigue cracks in steels using spherical lens scanning acoustic microscopy; and the phenomenon of ultrasonic light diffraction. The description of bichromatic tunable acousto-optic separator is fully covered. The diffraction phenomenon affecting the properties of the fibre-optic sensor system is discussed in detail. The text describes in depth the opto-acoustic measurement of ultrasound velocity in a solidifying polymer. The evaluation of microfracture due to thermal shock using acoustic emission is completely presented. A chapter is devoted to the detection of a weak adhesive and adherent interface in bonded joints. The book can provide useful information to engineers, students, and researchers.
