Automated Instrumentation For Radioimmunoassay written by Lemuel J. Bowie and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-02-06 with Science categories.

The various instruments described in this text all provide an integrated and automated approach for separating free and bound ligands along with other steps in radioimmunoassay. Although the various systems differ significantly in design, they all perform these basic manoeuvres, for the most part, without any operator intervention. It is hoped that the following descriptions of the various system capabilities will not only provide useful information for present and potential users of the systems, but also stimulate additional development by manufacturers which will bring the full potential of radioimmunoassay even closer to a reality.

The House Of Prisoners written by Andrea Seri and has been published by Walter de Gruyter this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-07-31 with History categories.

This book deals with the house of prisoners (bit asiri ) at the city of Uruk during the revolt against king Samsu-iluna of Babylon, Hammurabi’s son. The political history of this brief period (ca. 1741–1739 BC) is not widely known and until now there has been no comprehensive treatment of the bit asiri. This book includes autograph copies, transliterations, and translations of 42 unpublished cuneiform tablets from various collections, collations, and detailed tables and catalogues. The analysis comprises some 410 documents dated or attributable to king Rim-Anum, one of the insurgents who attained relative independence as the ruler of Uruk. The study of this corpus reveals details about diplomatic dealings between the central power and rebel rulers, about the functioning of the house of prisoners of war, and about the individuals who participated in different echelons of the local administration. This monograph investigates what kind of organization “the house of prisoners” was, how it worked, how it interacted with other institutions, the composition of its labor force, and state management of captive and enslaved individuals.

Hormones In Human Amniotic Fluid written by A.E. Schindler and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Medical categories.

This monograph represents the first comprehensive review of hormones in human amniotic fluid and includes data published up to and including 1980. Recently, more extensive use of amniocentesis for prenatal diagnosis and evaluation of fetal lung maturation has shown that amniotic fluid hormone measurements can aid in the diagnosis of fetal and placental abnormalities. The material is presented in two main sections dealing with steroid and protein hormones. The methods of identification and quantitation are delineated, and the findings are discussed in relation to the clinical conditions. In addition, particular attention has been directed towards up-to-date review of the sources, metabolism and transfer of human amniotic fluid hormones. The review is intended to serve the needs of clinicians, basic scientists and students, providing detailed information on human amniotic fluid hormones in order to improve patient care and indicate possibilities for further investigations. The Bile Acids Chemistry Physiology And Metabolism written by K.D.R. Setchell and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Medical categories.

Over a decade has elapsed since the last volume in this series was published. At that time we considered that we had comprehensively covered all aspects relating to bile acid chemistry and physiology. However, major strides have been made in our understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology of bile acids, due largely to the great advances which have taken place in analytical technology. As a result, the need to document these advances was felt acutely, and therefore this volume is devoted to methodologies in bile acid analysis and their applications. This volume includes twelve chapters written by prominent scientists in the field of bile acid research. The initial chapter discusses techniques of extraction and isolation of bile acids from biological fluids. It is followed by descriptions of physical methods of analysis and discussions of the way these techniques have been applied in the field of bile acid research. Of practical value is the inclusion of a comprehensive list of spectra obtained for refer ences by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry . These chapters are followed by reviews of biological methods of immuno assay and bioluminescence. Specific applications of these techniques are then addressed in contributions relating to bile acid analysis of tissue, serum, urine, and feces. With this integrated approach we have attempted to provide a volume which represents a comprehensive review of the analytical field of bile acids, while also serving as a useful reference book for those workers involved in bile acid analysis.

Calcium Regulating Hormones Vitamin D Metabolites And Cyclic Amp Assays And Their Clinical Application written by Heinrich Schmidt-Gayk and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Medical categories.

Calcium metabolism is regulated by three specific hormones: parathor- mone, calciferol metabolites, and calcitonin. Cyclic AMP also plays an important part in calcium regulation, and its concentration in urine can be taken as a measure of parathyroid function. Methods for quantitative measurement of, e.g. calcium-regulating hormones and vitamin D metabolites as well as of cAMP are absolutely necessary for safe differential diagnosis of diseases of the parathyroid like hypo- and hyperparathyroidism. In this monograph all presently available methods are summarized as to whether they can already be obtained as test kits or are still being tested. Radioimmunoassays for the various peptide fragments such as 53-84, 44-68, 28-48, and 1-34 are described, as are immunochemiluminescence methods and adenylate cyclase bioassays. The same is true for the vitamin D metabolites, where the various assays for calcidiol and calcitriol such as HPLC, protein-binding assay with second antibody separation, and double antibody RIA are deA scribed. Finally, determination of calcitonin and cAMP is discussed in detail. This is a practically and clinically oriented monograph for working in the fields of internal medicine, endocrinology, and laboratory medicine.
