Blake Cabello attends college on a football scholarship. He lives in a frat house and easily up to his reputation as a hot jock, until his father decides to get remarried. Jamie Rush was a senior in high school and living a quiet life with his mom when she married Blake's dad. Jamie came out to her and his friends in Oregon years before and his new step-father and step-brother, as masculine as they both are, don't seem to have a problem with that. That is until Jamie leaves for college and the same fraternity house that his step-brother has lived in for the past year. Jamie just wants to get an education. He joined the fraternity to please his mother and step-father who had met there years earlier. Blake just wants to keep his reputation intact and do his best to not disappoint his father. Smaller than the rest of them and not the least bit aggressive, Jamie becomes an easy target for the bullies that live in the frat house. If that wasn't bad enough, the step-brother he has looked up to and even developed a little crush on at home, seems to always be right there in the center of it all, and not on Jamie's side. Jamie doesn't want to dislike Blake, but sometimes it seems that's exactly what Blake is trying to get him to do. Blake doesn't really have a problem with Jamie, but he does have a reputation to uphold. As a matter of fact, Blake has a lot of secrets that he's struggling with, an almost double life that he's leading and scared to death that someone else is going to discover. For one thing he's been having dreams about his step-brother. They're unsettling and confusing. He's not gay, not even a little bit, so why does Jamie have such an effect on him? Then there's his involvement in the underground world of fighting. He thinks it's a good way to release his stress and actually do something just for himself for a change...but has he gotten in too deep? When Blake's double life implodes and Jamie's the only one there to save him, will his step-brother step up, or will Jamie take a page out of Blake's playbook and simply walk away?

Liam Reilly is an unattached, occasionally delinquent, teenage ward of the state. He lives in a university workshop. He rides a bike made of bamboo. His best friend is an AI named Eiann.Oh, he’s a genius too.Liam is content with his life, until a demon named Narvicous Scalegrim Gorgonzola Grimmold Maximus the Terrible (Gerald for short) appears in his workshop eating Cheez-Its and twerking to Cardi B. When a bunch of frat boys open a gate to hell in their basement foosball lounge, it falls on Liam, Eiann, and Gerald to stop the demon army waiting on the other side. Liam—an avowed loner—is stuck working with a bunch of other social outcasts: Jeanie, a T-shirt entrepreneur; her excessively “woke” cousin Mitchell; their androgynous friend Jax a.k.a. Jax Vader a.k.a. DJ Max Spinz; and a mysterious, wise-cracking, East African ninja-assassin, Esmeralda—who also happens to be blind—except when she visits other dimensions; that’s a different story. Thrown together with a busload of Latin children trying to escape a migrant detention facility and an underworld demigod, Liam and his lab partners—Eww, please don’t call them friends—basically have to save the world. If they can manage to save each other first.Zombies, Frat Boys, Monster Flash Mobs is what you get when you take the supernatural capers of Jonathan Stroud’s Bartimaeus Sequence, add in the unabashed nerdiness of Hank Green’s An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, followed by a helping of the irreverent edginess of an Angie Thomas novel. Zombies, Frat Boys, Monster Flash Mobs is current. It is socially relevant. Don’t call it a sequel! It’s not. But it is a part of an interconnected world, the Snog Team Six Series, with some returning characters, reoccurring themes, not to mention some running jokes—if you are hip enough to get them, wink wink, nudge nudge. Challenge accepted?

Mike Bloomberg written by Joyce Purnick and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-09-22 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

A biography of the business mogul, former New York City mayor, and 2020 democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg has repeatedly defied the standard models for success. He has never won a crowd over with his speaking prowess. Rooms do not hush with anticipation when he enters. Celebrity stalkers do not haunt him. But his unparalleled achievements drip with the dynamism that his public persona lacks. His penchant for problem solving and impressive ability to chart his own path has led to his great success as a business genius, self-made billionaire, and influential mayor. In this brilliant biography, former New York Times columnist and editor Joyce Purnick unravels this great American enigma from his childhood in the suburbs of Boston, to his rise on Wall Street and the creation of Bloomberg L.P., to his mayoral record and controversial campaign trail for a third term.

Brooklyn Roots is the story of Estelle Breines experience growing up in Borough Park, but it will resonate with anyone who grew up there, or for that matter, in any other urban, ethnic neighborhood. She paints word pictures that take you back in time, evoking the scenes, scents and sensibilities of the old neighborhood. Leslie Werstein Hann, writer/editor, HannWriting Inc. Once stirred, those memories rolled out in bursts, demanding recording. A description of the neighborhood of her youth emerged: her fathers pharmacy, shops along the avenue, and the house with its magnificent purple irises peeking above a stone wall as tall as a four year old. A small garment is remembered in detail: a dolls dress made from an old pillowcase, using a needle encrusted by baked on grease from the stuffed chicken necks her grandmother prepared; this the woman who braided the authors hair so tightly as surrogate parent while her parents worked to provide for them all in an era emerging from the Great Depression. There was the school she attended when the war began, and the celebrations at its end, and the places she and her friends explored as they grew. Her recollections of the neighborhoods artifacts appear as she envisions pickles and egg creams. Each shop along the 13th Avenue of her memory is sustained in its original character, even the corsetiere and milliner of the past, stuck there in time.

The genesis of Real Men Wear PINK evolved at the end of a five-year estrangement from my brother Pink McCaskell Jr. After serving time at Mason County Jail in Michigan, Pink returned home with hopes of leaving his past behind to embark on uncharted territory. Pink's journey would begin with unconventional access to college. Ironically, two brothers'--"the thug" and "the scholar"--paths crossed on a college campus. Though I was the scholar, he became my professor and unveiled the mysteries of machismo behavior in the context of racial, gender, and economic oppression. Machismo is the professor of Black men. He proliferates the luxuries of sex, aggression, power, deviance, and aloofness. Real Men Wear PINK uses the creativity of storytelling to unveil how machismo manifests in four Black male collegians from diverse backgrounds--Avery Johnson, Jaleen Gonzalez, Julius Simba-Simbi, and Pink McCaskell Jr. At the crossroads, each is challenged with accepting their past and forging a promising future. The book uniquely captures the struggles of being Black, male, and a collegian by using parables rooted in theory and practice to reimagine Black males' purpose, integrity, nurture, and knowledge--PINK.
