Este libro constituye la recopilación de diferentes capítulos que integra conocimientos de las ciencias básicas medicas y la semiológica, cuya aplicación es necesaria al enfrentarse a una paciente con una dolencia ginecológica u obstétrica. El objetivo es que la suma de estos conocimientos a ciertas habilidades en la relación medico-paciente, dé como resultado una anamnesis y un examen físico exhaustivo y pertinente. Lo anterior dentro del marco del respeto por el pudor de una paciente que responderá preguntas intimas y dejara examinar sus genitales. El estudiante, a lo largo del texto, recibirá elementos que el permitirán generar una historia clínica completa y ordenada, y que aporte los argumentos para un adecuado análisis, un diagnostico acertado y una plan racional de ayudas diagnosticas y tratamiento medico o quirúrgicos. Los estudiantes de pregrado en el rea de la salud que inicia su ciclo en ginecología y obstetricia requieren u texto que les refuerce la fundamentación anatómica y fisiológica, y que al mismo tiempo correlacionen dich fundamentación anatómica y fisiológica, y que al mismo tiempo correlaciones dicha fundamentación con la semiología y el proceso diagnostico. Los textos disponibles, la mayoría de muy buena calidad académica, suelen ser muy extensivos, excesivamente detallados y mas enfocados al abordaje terapéutico. Además su costo generalmente es elevado. Por otro lado los textos de Semiología no profundizan lo suficiente en la semiología de ginecológica y obstétrica. El análisis anterior puso de manifiesto la necesidad de construir el compendio Fundamento de Ginecología y Obstetricia, que permita al estudiante integrar sus conocimientos en embriología, anatomía, histología y farmacología a la semiología, en la entrevista medica y en el examen fisco; facilitando el objetivo final de elaborar una historia clínica analítica, bien fundamentada y que cumpla con los requerimientos académicos y legales actuales. No obstante, para alcanzar este objetivo el estudiante deberá estudiar el texto con profundidad y ante todo, aplicar estos conocimientos en la practica de sus rotaciones clínicas dentro las cuales tendrá contacto con pacientes. Esperamos entonces que este compendio sea un aporte al aprendizaje de un adecuado proceso diagnostico y por consiguiente terapéutico, de las patologías en Ginecología y Obstetricia.
