Award-winning author and historian Lochlainn Seabrook has done it again. He's given traditional Southerners yet another book that not only rectifies many of the notoriously false Yankee myths floating around out there, but one that makes Southerners genuinely proud to be Southern! This brief work, provocatively entitled "Give This Book to a Yankee! A Southern Guide to the Civil War For Northerners," is a loosely based distillation of his popular blockbuster "Everything You Were Taught About the Civil War is Wrong, Ask a Southerner!" Pared down several hundred pages for quick reading, as the title suggests, "Give This Book to a Yankee!" makes an excellent gift for your Northern friends, or even for fellow Southerners who have been inculcated with pro-North nonsense, and who need reeducating as to Dixie's authentic history. The book's nineteen chapters cover the most salient aspects of what Mr. Seabrook likes to call "Lincoln's War," including such topics as the true cause behind the conflict, the legality of secession, race relations in the Old South and the Old North, myths about so-called "slavery," the real origins of the American abolition movement, Jeff Davis, Abe Lincoln, the Emancipation Proclamation, the treatment of blacks in the Confederate and Union armies, the KKK, Reconstruction, and much more. For scholars the book comes with over 200 endnotes and a bibliography. The Foreword is by Confederate Virginia Flagger Karen Cooper. Heavily researched and illustrated, this little book is an essential weapon anyone can use to defend Dixie and the Southern Cause, making it a must-have for traditional Southerners, Civil War buffs, and educators. At only $7.95 keep several copies with you to hand out. You never know when you're going to bump into an unenlightened Yank or reconstructed Southerner! Civil War scholar and unreconstructed Southern historian Lochlainn Seabrook, a descendant of numerous Confederate soldiers and a recipient of the prestigious Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal, is the sixth great-grandson of the Earl of Oxford and the author of over thirty popular books for all ages. A seventh-generation Kentuckian of Appalachian heritage who is known as the "American Robert Graves" after his celebrated English cousin, Seabrook has a forty-year background in the American Civil War, Confederate studies and biography, self-help, healing and health, spirituality, Jesus, the Bible, the Law of Attraction, theology, thealogy, anthropology, etymology, the paranormal, genealogy, and comparative religion and myth. A Southern Agrarian and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the National Grange, he lives with his wife and family in historic Middle Tennessee, the heart of the Confederacy. Seabrook's other titles include: "A Rebel Born: A Defense of Nathan Bedford Forrest"; "Honest Jeff and Dishonest Abe: A Southern Children's Guide to the Civil War"; "The Unquotable Abraham Lincoln: The President's Quote They Don't Want You to Know!"; "The Quotable Stonewall Jackson"; "The Alexander H. Nathan Bedford Forrest And The Battle Of Fort Pillow written by Lochlainn Seabrook and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-11-16 with History categories.

Yankee historians delight in calling Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest "the Butcher of Fort Pillow," claiming that he instigated a "racist massacre" of surrendering black Union troops during the battle at Henning, Tennessee, on April 12, 1864. But is this true? Of course not. It is merely the North's fabricated version, one based not on reality, but on opinion, nescience, emotion, sciolism, presentism, spite, and an anti-South bias that is still very much alive to this day. For those who are interested in the truth about the conflict, award-winning historian and Forrest scholar Lochlainn Seabrook has written "Nathan Bedford Forrest and the Battle of Fort Pillow: Yankee Myth, Confederate Fact." This brief but comprehensive investigation blows the lid off what pro-North writers like to refer to as a "controversy," but which was in fact nothing more than an ordinary fight in which an overwhelming force (2,500 racially integrated Confederates) assaulted an indefensible fort filled with belligerent drunken soldiers (600 racially segregated Yankees) who refused to surrender in the face of impossible odds. Excerpted from Mr. Seabrook's popular title "A Rebel Born: A Defense of Nathan Bedford Forrest," the book contains dozens of pages of new material, along with rare photos and illustrations, maps, details concerning the origins of the battle and the charges against Forrest, official reports, and important eyewitness accounts by those at the scene. Also included: an index, bibliography, and reference notes. This book, which helps restore Forrest's reputation after being unfairly tarnished by 150 years of slander, falsehoods, and anti-South propaganda, is a must-read for all those who are in search of the truth about "Nathan Bedford Forrest and the Battle of Fort Pillow." For the traditional South Mr. Seabrook's work represents the final word on the matter. Civil War scholar Lochlainn Seabrook, a descendant of the families of Alexander H. Stephens and John S. Mosby, is the most prolific and popular pro-South writer in the world today. Known as the "new Shelby Foote," he is a recipient of the prestigious Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal and the author of over 45 books. A seventh-generation Kentuckian of Appalachian heritage and the sixth great-grandson of the Earl of Oxford, Mr. Seabrook has a forty-year background in American and Southern history, and is the author of the runaway bestseller "Everything You Were Taught About the Civil War is Wrong, Ask a Southerner!" Seabrook's other titles include: "Confederate Flag Facts: What Every American Should Know About Dixie's Southern Cross"; "Everything You Were Taught About American Slavery is Wrong, Ask a Southerner!"; "The Great Yankee Coverup: What the North Doesn't Want You to Know About Lincoln's War"; "Give This Book to a Yankee: A Southern Guide to the Civil War for Northerners"; "Confederacy 101: Amazing Facts You Never Knew About America's Oldest Political Tradition"; "Slavery 101: Amazing Facts You Never Knew About America's 'Peculiar Institution'"; "Forrest! 99 Reasons to Love Nathan Bedford Forrest"; "Honest Jeff and Dishonest Abe: A Southern Children's Guide to the Civil War"; "The Unquotable Abraham Lincoln: The President's Quote They Don't Want You to Know!"; "The Quotable Stonewall Jackson"; "The Alexander H. Confederate Exceptionalism written by Nicole Maurantonio and has been published by University Press of Kansas this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-09-30 with History categories.

Along with Confederate flags, the men and women who recently gathered before the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts carried signs proclaiming “Heritage Not Hate.” Theirs, they said, was an “open and visible protest against those who attacked us, ours flags, our ancestors, or our Heritage.” How, Nicole Maurantonio wondered, did “not hate” square with a “heritage” grounded in slavery? How do so-called neo-Confederates distance themselves from the actions and beliefs of white supremacists while clinging to the very symbols and narratives that tether the Confederacy to the history of racism and oppression in America? The answer, Maurantonio discovers, is bound up in the myth of Confederate exceptionalism—a myth whose components, proponents, and meaning this timely and provocative book explores. The narrative of Confederate exceptionalism, in this analysis, updates two uniquely American mythologies—the Lost Cause and American exceptionalism—blending their elements with discourses of racial neoliberalism to create a seeming separation between the Confederacy and racist systems. Incorporating several methods and drawing from a range of sources—including ethnographic observations, interviews, and archival documents—Maurantonio examines the various people, objects, and rituals that contribute to this cultural balancing act. Her investigation takes in “official” modes of remembering the Confederacy, such as the monuments and building names that drive the discussion today, but it also pays attention to the more mundane and often subtle ways in which the Confederacy is recalled. Linking the different modes of commemoration, her work bridges the distance that believers in Confederate exceptionalism maintain; while situated in history from the Civil War through the civil rights era, the book brings much-needed clarity to the constitution, persistence, and significance of this divisive myth in the context of our time.

Nathan Bedford Forrest is best known for his role as a Confederate officer in the American War for Southern Independence. While most Forrest biographies discuss his military career in great detail, what they do not provide is the General's own perspective of the conflict. In his one-of-a-kind book, "Give 'Em Hell Boys!," Forrest scholar, Forrest relation, Southern historian, and award-winning author Lochlainn Seabrook handily remedies this situation. Neatly divided into five sections for each year of Lincoln's War, as the subtitle indicates, the book encompasses all of the General's military correspondence, from 1861 to 1865. In the 300 fascinating footnoted entries included, we find Forrest's reports, dispatches, orders, returns, letters, notes, communiques, and telegrams, as he himself wrote or dictated them, usually from the battlefield. His missives were sent out to a wide assortment of Civil War figures, from the president of the Confederacy (Jefferson Davis) and fellow Confederate officers to his Yankee enemies, most of the communications with the latter which ended with unsurprising results: immediate surrender! Through Forrest's own words, we are able to track not only the progress of the War, but his rise from private to lieutenant general (one rank shy of full general)-the only man on either side to achieve such a feat. Included along with a bibliography and an index are such extras as a historical time line of the highlights of Forrest's life, a list of all of his engagements, and a section on his recognition by the Confederate Congress. Like the author's numerous other works on Forrest, "Give 'Em Hell Boys!" (named after one of his most famous war cries) will help destroy the many anti-South myths surrounding the General, giving him back his rightful place as a lauded American patriot and Southern icon. Learn about both Forrest the man and the Rebel officer from the great Confederate chieftain himself, in this captivating read that is already well on its way to becoming a standard in Civil War literature. Is the Confederate Battle Flag truly a symbol of "hatred, racism, and slavery," as Liberals maintain? Of course not. It's the opposite: it's a symbol of Christian love, universal brotherhood, and freedom, but they don't want you to know that! More importantly it's a sacred emblem of Southern heritage, history, and honor, one that every traditional Southerner is rightfully proud of. In "Confederate Flag Facts: What Every American Should Know About Dixie's Southern Cross," award-winning Southern historian Lochlainn Seabrook corrects the many falsehoods fabricated by the anti-South movement about the South's most famous ensign: the Starry Cross (the Confederate Battle Flag). In the process, he provides the true history of the Confederate States of America and its three official flags: the Stars and Bars (the First National), the Stainless Banner (the Second National), and the Blood-Stained Banner (the Third National). We learn why the C.S.A. patterned itself on the original U.S.A. (which was known as "the Confederate States of America"), even copying her Constitution and flag, all in an effort to preserve the confederate republic of the American Founding Fathers. In debunking the many myths and lies invented by Liberals about the Confederate Flag, a wide range of pertinent topics are covered concerning Lincoln's War, including secession, slavery, and abolition. Special attention is paid to Dixie's brave "boys in gray," the Confederate soldier, a unique breed of warrior who was represented by every race. Mr. Seabrook backs up his in-depth research with numerous eyewitness accounts, both from the Confederacy and the Union. This generously illustrated work, complete with endnotes, an index, and a bibliography, is jam-packed with little known facts about the South and her flags, making it a powerful educational tool. Not just for beginners and enemies of the South, but for seasoned Civil War buffs and writers as well. Pick up your copy of the most informative guide ever written on the Confederate Flag. Give it out to unenlightened friends, neighbors, educators, journalists, and politicians, and help combat the Left's contrived, malicious, and historically inaccurate war on the South and her symbols. With its 100-year history of infant mortality, violence, murder, war, surgical amputations, political intrigue, thousands of ghastly deaths, and a long streak of truly bad luck, it's little wonder that Carnton Plantation is haunted, or that thousands travel each year to visit its hallowed grounds in the hopes of spotting a ghost themselves. What is perhaps more surprising is that no one has thought to chronicle the accounts of Carnton's many ghost stories, and put them in a book for readers of all ages. Lochlainn Seabrook, a former Carnton tour guide and the author of dozens of popular Civil War books, has rectified this situation by providing us with the first nonfiction book ever written about the goblins of Tennessee's most haunted Civil War house. Carnton Plantation Ghost Stories is loaded with both fun and serious facts touching on numerous topics, from the Civil War, plantation life, and Victorian culture, to 19th-Century medicine, genealogy, and slavery. And all is written from the South's point of view, a refreshing perspective that enriches an already fascinating subject: a Southern plantation full of Civil War ghosts! Included is a complete list of the dead Rebel soldiers buried at the McGavock Confederate Cemetery, over 100 photos and illustrations of paranormal energies, Carnton Mansion, and the grounds, maps of the property, a wonderful and useful "Ghostly Glossary," a history of both Carnton and the Battle of Franklin II, and factual discussions on Lincoln's War. Additionally, Seabrook, who is related to the founders and owners of Carnton, has thoughtfully included a family tree for the plantation clan. Entertaining yet educational, diverting yet gripping, this is a book that everyone from ghost-hunters to Civil War buffs will want on their shelf. The foreword is by Austin Cook, team leader of SyFy Channel s hit TV series Killer Contact. Available in paperback and hardcover.
