My name is Lillie Zane Jones. I live in Philadelphia, Mississippi. I was born on a farm in Winston County, Mississippi, on July 16, 1953 to Woodrow and Claudia Smith. My mother named me after a marvelous, holy, wonderful woman preacher, named Sister Lillie Roark. At the age of three years my parents sold the farm and we moved to Chicago, Illinois. It wasn't until I was thirty years old that I moved back to Mississippi. This was a life changing experience. I was filled with the powerful spirit of the Almighty God, Who is none other than Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. Then I came to know more about this wonderful woman, I was named after. I feel an honor to have her name, but I don't feel worthy of it. God called me to preach the Good News of His Gospel in 1985. This also I feel honored but not worthy of. But nevertheless I'm going to do whatever I can through the leading of His spirit to tell the world that there is a Savior that loves them with an everlasting love. This book is about some things God has shown me in His written word. Some are sermons He gave me to preach, and some are studies I have done. The more I read and study the Bible, and hear my Pastor Bro. Ernest Flake preach and teach, the more I realize what an awesome Mighty God Jesus our Lord and Savior is. My hope and prayer is that something in the words of this book will give hope and more understanding of the powerful God that loved us enough to come and robe Himself in a fleshly human body and shed His blood for our atonement. That we could have everlasting life in heaven with Him.

It all began when I finally desired quiet time in Gods presence. He, being my Lord and Savior, gave me a need to hear encouragement and guidance from him. Knowing that I belong to my God, Jesus died for my sins, and I am filled with his Spirit gave me peace and confidence, but I felt there was more I needed. I longed to hear from him. Was this really possible? How would I know it was him? I would enter my prayer time as usual, with quiet meditation, praise, and worship from my heart and lips. Id then pick up my prayer journal for personal prayers, petitions, and intercession for others. In my spirit, I would, at times, receive words of affirmation during my prayer time. Then when finished, I would be guided to pick up my pen and begin to write. I not only realized that God was giving me these words to write and encourage me with but also each one was always one page long. After almost a year, I began to transfer them to my computer. As I did, I was also given a title and a scripture to go with each one. All I knew was this ability was definitely God-given to me for his purpose. Soon I was realizing it wasnt all for me, I was prompted to share them on occasion with others. This began a list of folks who wanted to receive them on a regular basis. The list continued to grow, and God continued to encourage me through others to write more as he led me. What I thought was, God was speaking to me only; in reality, he is able to speak to others through a devotional, simple folk like me put down on paper. I pray they will bless and encourage all who read them, as they have been for me. May this book always be a reminder to us that God is speaking, are you listening?

Wayne and Virginia Wright, former Wesleyan missionaries to the Philippines, wrote this tribute for his funeral that best describes his life: Roberto became a part of our lives more than sixty years ago. There are some important words that we think of at this time that characterized his life. The first big word is "grace." Roberto did not become who he was because of money or any of the benefits that most people think are important. God chose Roberto out of what could have been a negative early beginning and brought him into his family through grace. We have no way of knowing what Roberto's life might have been without that wonderful grace of God to make a life meaningful that otherwise might have been wasted. Roberto Bumanlag's life is a testimony of what God can do through grace. The next big word is "giftedness." There are not many things anyone can do, but what Roberto could do better. God not only changed him through grace, he gifted him with abilities to do almost anything and do them well. His hands were gifted with the ability to make things beautiful. His voice was gifted to sing well for his Lord. He had an impressive mind to think and speak in God-honoring ways. Many years ago, when Roberto was a young student at Bible school and sometimes living with us in our home, there wasn't much that needed to be done that he could not do. We still have some things he made that we will remember him by. Throughout his long life, he gave himself to live faithfully using and expressing the many gifts God gave him. Another big word is "love." We will not remember Roberto so much for all the things he did--we will remember him because he was loving toward all he shared life with. He leaves behind him memories and evidences of his love for Ruth, for the children, and for all of us to whom he so often spoke words and did deeds of kindness.
