Heteras is a fantasy novel that pits the forces of the noble against the forces of an ancient evil. It is a tale of four worlds connected by a gateway called Heteras. In Book 1, Mozeh abducts the god Protector, hunts for the future leaders they call Marked Children, and sets Heteras aflame. The Elders appoint Anazar, a record keeper, to lead the survivors through a mythical stairway beneath a lake watched over by Guardian spirits. They carry with them a sac full of green stones, a withered journal, and pouches of an indigenous tea. The ninety-ninth step leads the Heterans to a vineyard in a sleepy village in Rhineland, Germany. With the children safe, Anazar begins his search for an heir who possesses a jewel that will help the travelers in their quest to rescue their Protector and restore peace in Heteras. They adjust to life in this big strange world and embark on an adventure that earns them allies and foes. Along the way, they cross paths with a brother and a sister who are also on a quest of their own. Was this encounter predestined? Their search takes them to the peaks of the Dolomites in Northern Italy where they hope to find the answers they seek, and where, on a seemingly unremarkable hill, the next phase of their adventure begins.

The culture wars show no sign of abating. Same-sex sexuality continues to be one of the most brutal and bloody fronts in those wars and Christians, the fiercest combatants. Friendships, families, churches, and denominations continue to draw their lines-in-the-sand, split, and go their separate ways. Meanwhile, the lives of many, young and old, are deeply scarred and some even lost in the crossfire. It doesn't have to be that way! Challenging the arguments that perpetuate that conflict, Open Wide the Gates presents a carefully developed biblical, theological, and ethical argument for the welcome, affirmation, and inclusion of gays and lesbians in the life and ministry of the local church. Its irenic tone and clearly articulated presentation provides pastors, denominational leaders, and concerned laypeople with a reliable guide for navigating these often-turbulent waters. In this comprehensive study, Brian D. Cunnington points to a path forward, a path for following Jesus in the twenty-first century characterized by grace, love, and hope; a path that demonstrates the radical presence of God's kingdom here on earth for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation.

A Thesaurus Of Medical Word Roots written by Horace Gerald Danner and has been published by Scarecrow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-08-15 with Medical categories.

Dr. Horace Gerald Danner’s A Thesaurus of Medical Word Roots is a compendium of the most-used word roots of the medical and health-care professions. All word roots are listed alphabetically, along with the Greek or Latin words from which they derive, together with the roots’ original meanings. If the current meaning of an individual root differs from the original meaning, that is listed in a separate column. In the examples column, the words which contain the root are then listed, starting with their prefixes. For example, esthesia, which means “feeling,” has as its prefixed roots alloesthesia, anesthesia, and dysesthesia. The listing then switches to words where the root itself forms the beginning, such as esthesiogenesis or esthesioneuroblastoma. These root-starting terms then are followed by words where the root falls in the middle or the end, as in acanthesthesia, cryesthesia, or osmesthesia. In this manner, A Thesaurus of Medical Word Roots places the word in as many word families as there are elements in the word. This work will interest not only medical practitioners but linguists and philologists and anyone interested in the etymological aspects of medical terminology.

Lost to the desiccated desert of 4th century Egypt, reclusive hermit Paphunce reflects on his sinful life. Determined to become closer to God, Paphunce resolves to bring God his childhood infatuation, the beautiful actress Thaïs. On his godly mission, Paphunce ventures out across the desperate landscape and dons a disguise to reach Thaïs. However, in his attempts to help her reach salvation, Paphunce may find himself eternally lost to damnation. As beautifully written as it is profoundly philosophical, ‘Thaïs’, a fictionalised retelling of the life of fabled Christian convert Saint Thaïs of Egypt, seeks to question the superficial virtuousness of religion. For any fans of Martin Scorcese’s ‘Silence’, ‘Thaïs’ is an enthralling story that asks similarly important questions about the nature of faith and is a riveting read that belongs on everyone’s bookshelf. François-Anatole Thibault (1844 – 1924), better known as Anatole France, was a French journalist, poet, novelist, and Nobel laureate for literature. Spending much of his early life in his father's bookshop, France quickly rose to prominence as a respected author of over 25 works. A French classicist writer with a style reminiscent of Voltaire and Fénélon, France's work has a strong preoccupation with scepticism and hedonism. He is best remembered for his classic French novels ‘La Rôtisserie de la Reine Pédauque’ (1893) and ‘Le Crime de Sylvestre Bonnard’ (1881). France's works have had a historic legacy, and he is recognised today as one of France’s most prominent authors.
