The system, as here exemplified, I have found the best that has come under my observation, and I do not hesitate to rest my name as a horseman on the award of those who will give it a faithful trial. The chapters on sweating, food, and drink are not offered as being scientifically correct in a veterinary view. The want of a medical education would have prevented me from writing such a treatise, if I had been ambitious to do so; but the results deduced I know to be correct from the practical tests of every seasons experience in training horses.
