This book presents reinforcement learning (RL) based solutions for user-centric online network selection optimization. The main content can be divided into three parts. The first part (chapter 2 and 3) focuses on how to learning the best network when QoE is revealed beyond QoS under the framework of multi-armed bandit (MAB). The second part (chapter 4 and 5) focuses on how to meet dynamic user demand in complex and uncertain heterogeneous wireless networks under the framework of markov decision process (MDP). The third part (chapter 6 and 7) focuses on how to meet heterogeneous user demand for multiple users inlarge-scale networks under the framework of game theory. Efficient RL algorithms with practical constraints and considerations are proposed to optimize QoE for realizing intelligent online network selection for future mobile networks. This book is intended as a reference resource for researchers and designers in resource management of 5G networks and beyond.

Developing Networks Using Artificial Intelligence written by Haipeng Yao and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-04-26 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book mainly discusses the most important issues in artificial intelligence-aided future networks, such as applying different ML approaches to investigate solutions to intelligently monitor, control and optimize networking. The authors focus on four scenarios of successfully applying machine learning in network space. It also discusses the main challenge of network traffic intelligent awareness and introduces several machine learning-based traffic awareness algorithms, such as traffic classification, anomaly traffic identification and traffic prediction. The authors introduce some ML approaches like reinforcement learning to deal with network control problem in this book. Traditional works on the control plane largely rely on a manual process in configuring forwarding, which cannot be employed for today's network conditions. To address this issue, several artificial intelligence approaches for self-learning control strategies are introduced. In addition, resource management problems are ubiquitous in the networking field, such as job scheduling, bitrate adaptation in video streaming and virtual machine placement in cloud computing. Compared with the traditional with-box approach, the authors present some ML methods to solve the complexity network resource allocation problems. Finally, semantic comprehension function is introduced to the network to understand the high-level business intent in this book. With Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), 5th Generation Wireless Systems (5G) development, the global network is undergoing profound restructuring and transformation. However, with the improvement of the flexibility and scalability of the networks, as well as the ever-increasing complexity of networks, makes effective monitoring, overall control, and optimization of the network extremely difficult. Recently, adding intelligence to the control plane through AI&ML become a trend and a direction of network development This book's expected audience includes professors, researchers, scientists, practitioners, engineers, industry managers, and government research workers, who work in the fields of intelligent network. Advanced-level students studying computer science and electrical engineering will also find this book useful as a secondary textbook.

Driving 5G Mobile Communications with Artificial Intelligence towards 6G presents current work and directions of continuously innovation and development in multimedia communications with a focus on services and users. The fifth generation of mobile wireless networks achieved the first deployment by 2020, completed the first phase of evolution in 2022, and started transition phase of 5G-Advanced toward the sixth generation. Perhaps one of the most important innovations brought by 5G is the platform-approach to connectivity, i.e., a single standard that can adapt to the heterogeneous connectivity requirements of vastly different use cases. 5G networks contain a list of different requirements, standardized technical specifications and a range of implementation options with spectral efficiency, latency, and reliability as primary performance metrics. Towards 6G, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) methods have recently proposed new approaches to modeling, designing, optimizing and implementing systems. They are now matured technologies that improve many research fields significantly. The area of wireless multimedia communications has developed immensely, generating a large number of concepts, ideas, technical specifications, mobile standards, patents, and articles. Identifying the basic ideas and their complex interconnections becomes increasingly important. The book is divided into three major parts, with each part containing four or five chapters: Advanced 5G communication Machine learning-based communication and network automation Artificial Intelligence towards 6G The first part discusses three main scenarios and standard specification of 5G use cases (eMBB, URLLC, mMTC), vehicular systems beyond 5G, and efficient edge architecture on NFV infrastructure. In the second part, different AI/ML-based methodologies and open research challenges are presented in introducing 5G-AIoT artificial intelligence of things, scheduling in 5G/6G communication systems, application of DL techniques to modulation, detection, and channel coding as well as 5G Open Source tools for experimentations and testing. The third part paved the way to deployment scenarios for different innovative services including technologies and applications of 5G/6G intelligent connectivity, AI-assisted eXtended Reality, integrated 5G-IoT architecture in next-generation Smart Grid, privacy requirements in a hyper-connected world, and evaluation of representative 6G use cases and technology trends. The book is written by field experts from Europe and Mauritius who introduce a blend of scuentific and engineering concepts covering this emerging wireless communication era. It is a very good reference book for telecom professionals, engineers, and practitioner in various 5G vertical domains and, finally, a basis for student courses in 5G/6G wireless systems.

This report examines the findings of a study by Bell Atlantic, IBM, and Siemens which investigated the role of the Intelligent Network in telecommunications. It considers current trends and future developments, on a national and international level. This report defines and describes the concept of the Intelligent Network and considers the operating requirements (including the hardware and software) and the types of service a network user can expect. Concepts, definitions, and terminology reflect the status of the Intelligent Network in 1988. Actual implementation may differ due to the constantly changing environment, new requirements, and experiences with existing solutions. The report is divided into six parts: Part 1 introduces the concept of the Intelligent Network, and describes elements common to alLIN services. It considers the application program and network management requirements, and provides examples of the hardware and software proposed for implementing the network. Parts 2 through 6 include detailed descriptions of specific IN services. In each part there is a functional service description and an application description. The reader is expected to have a general knowledge and understanding of existing telecommunication networks.
