Kings and Clans questions the assumption that "clans," as traditionally defined by anthropologists and historians, are static structures that hamper political centralization. By reconstructing the history of kings and clans in Africa's Kivu Rift Valley at a time of critical social change, Newbury enlarges our understanding of social process and the growth of state power in Africa.

The Conley family traditionally traces its origins to the Celts. Clan Conley traditionally resided in Meath and Ulster in Ireland. The Clan tooks its name in 380 A.D. from Conal Err Breg, founder of the tribe. While the clan had enjoyed a time of power and prestige, it was adversely affectted by the Anglo-Norman invasion of Ireland. In 1850 Patrick Cayle Connolly and his sister bridget immigrated to America and settled in Boston. Patrick later settled in Indiana. He married Josephine Alice Tucker and they were the parents of seven children. Descendants live in Indiana and other parts of the United States.

This is book one of the KINGS and CLANS series. KINGS and CLANS of the Midwest is a near future novel set in the Midwestern United States. A plausible explanation is depicted on how the Characters watch the Dollar become worthless before their eyes. Without a viable currency, the economy and the Country quickly slides into an apocalyptic collapse. Characters from various backgrounds are desperate to survive in a situation that has rapidly diminishing resources and many are ready to resort to the worst kinds of evil to get their "fair share." Very few in this dystopian apocalyptic setting have a clue about how to protect themselves, nor are many of them preppers. They don't all talk and act the same and everything doesn't always go right for them; nor do they all survive. Characters are all forced to join one of the wide range of colorful and often violent factions. Some seek to establish a new kind of society, and take specific, detailed steps of their own design. Those who oversaw the ruin of the Country, led by the US President, are desperate to cling to any power they can. The POTUS illegally invites the United Nations to help Homeland Security disarm its citizens and restore order to the nation. Many of the independent minded souls of the Midwest see things differently. . .

Clan King And Covenant written by John L Roberts and has been published by Edinburgh University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-07 with History categories.

Clan, King and Covenant explores the turbulent history of the Highlands during the seventeenth century. The signing of the National Covenant in 1638 first challenged the powers of Charles I in Scotland, but it was only when Alisdair MacDonald joined Montrose in raising the Royalist clans that the country erupted into civil war. Central to the conflict was the ancient enmity between the MacDonalds and the Campbells, Earls of Argyll, as clan Donald attempted to reclaim their ancestral lands in Argyll. There followed a whirlwind year of spectacular victories for Montrose in the name of the King as the Highland clans emerged upon the national stage, before his campaign subsided into eventual defeat. However it was only after the Restoration of Charles II that a bitter and protracted struggle broke out between Church and Crown, after Bishops were reappointed to the national Church. Political and religious tensions mounted with the acession of James VII of Scotland (James II of England) as a Catholic king ruling over a predominantly Presbyterian people. It reached a climax in the outbreak of the Highland War, when Viscount Dundee won a devastating victory at Killiecrankie on behalf of James VII over the Presbyterian forces of Lowland Scotland, but at the cost of his own life. Subsequently the Crown imposed an uneasy peace upon the Highlands, after the cold-blooded plotting of 'murder under trust' culminated in the Glencoe Massacre. Condoned by William of Orange, few events in the blood-stained history of the Highland clans have quite the dreadful resonance of this act, carried out cynically as a matter of public policy. Also available by the same author: Lost Kingdoms and Feuds, Forays and Rebellions (both Edinburgh University Press)

The Frasers are a famous Scottish Clan who ruled much of the north and north east of Scotland from the 14th to the 18th century. They were both feared and admired in equal measure. In the Scottish Wars of Independence against England, they supported King Robert the Bruce and gained much prestige, land and power through this King's eventually victory. However, this was not before they had suffered terribly at the hands of their oppressors. They continued to loyally support the Kings of Scotland and fought in most of the major battles during this period. In the Highlands they were forever in feud and conflict with other powerful clans. This book provides a comprehensive account of their Clan History.
