Life is not Complicated, You Are (College Edition) Has inspired future leaders in classrooms across America."Carlos Wallace talks about different aspects of life, his book is very big on motivation. He talks about how he went through different tragic things in his life. He talks about financial ruin, and how you have to take one step at a time and pick yourself up from your troubles. Just like in the book when it talks about motivation. Just because we don't always meet the certain goals we had planned for ourselves doesn't mean we weren't successful. We just created a new goal, sometimes more realistic.""Carlos Wallace is the author of Life Is Not Complicated- You Are, which is a motivational and view-changing narrative. He uses personal experiences and examples to show listeners how they can live their lives in the best way possible. Wallace explains how dwelling on the past, living in fear, and not doing what is best for one's own life can lead to disappointment. By accomplishing his personal goal of inspiring people through this narrative, Wallace proved how motivation and positive thinking can improve one's life.""In this book by Carlos Wallace "Life Is Not Complicated, You Are" It is a very inspirational book, because it lets us know about what life is about and what everyone goes through base on what Carlos Wallace has experience in his life during the years. His purpose was to let everyone know that no one is alone and that we all go through the same things. As life goes on, we all have a purpose in life, it could either be to helpsomeone that is going through something hard in their lives or to be there next to someone and let them know that their lives are worth living, even when everything seems gone.""Depression and many other psychological disorders can run in families, which has a major effect on emotional state. The most important thing that Wallace gets to in this book is when he quotes hamlet, "this above all, to thine self be true." Being true to yourself is essential to self-determination. That is the foundation of motivation. If you listen to yourself and really try to do the right thing and know you are trying, that is enough to keep you motivated to strive higher. Because you have come so far before, you know you can again."

By the grace of God and with eternal thanks for the support (and patience) of my dearest friends and family, I can say proudly and with a humble heart: I have FINALLY completed my very first book, "Life Is Not Complicated, You Are: Turning Your Biggest Disappointments Into Your Greatest Blessings". In it, I chronicle how the principles my beloved parents and grandparents imparted helped me conquer life's challenges and, more importantly, appreciate its blessings. Through their wisdom and guidance, I found strength, discovered insight, developed my faith and nurtured a desire to be a constant source of encouragement in the lives I touch directly and indirectly. Lessons that help us survive our greatest difficulties should be shared. I call this dynamic a "transfer of strength" and believe it will have a positive ripple effect! Through the experiences I share in this book I hope to pay my lessons forward. If I can help spare at least one person a night of tears, a day of hopelessness, a moment of despair and a second of sadness, then "Life Is Not Complicated, You Are" will be more successful than I could have ever imagined. We are all extraordinary people. Every one of us has wisdom to contribute. Please, invite fellow students, friends and family to talk about which of the messages in Life Is Not Complicated, You Are resonated with them. Together, with this book as our guide, we can create the largest group dedicated to talking about how we can all tap into our Legacy or Foundation to learn more about ourselves. We can discuss what makes us Fearless, and evaluate how we define Success. How did you deal with Disappointment or Adversity, and who supported you on your journey toward Deliverance and Purpose? Let's do our part to create the most powerful transfer of strength the world has ever seen and begin a cycle of affirmative thinking that turns life's biggest disappointments into its greatest blessings!

The author of "Life is Not Complicated, You Are," Mr. Carlos Wallace teaches life lessons through his autobiographical narrative. The intent of this novel study is to provide lessons and suggestions for Secondary English educators as an opportunity to discuss difficult coming of age topics with our students. As educators, we are aware that there are many ways to approach a novel study. This novel study guide approaches the content through a social justice lens. The lesson plans are designed for a 4 to 6 week novel study. The novel study addresses the narrative as a reflection of a wealth of knowledge, an opportunity to share experiences, and shared privileges from the perspective of the author. Each chapter is titled with a quote reflective of the chapter's content. These quotes are duplicated in the study guide and intended for student reflective purposes. Some chapters have been grouped together as the themes within the chapters are closely related. The suggested page grouping should be ideally read during class and then remaining sections for homework. Students are encouraged to read in class as much as possible. Reading in class promotes a connectedness with the text. Most of the assignments for "Life is Not Complicated, You Are" have been constructed with small groups in mind. Ideal groups should consist of 3 to 4 students. This novel is intended to be discussed as the subject matter commands small and large group discussions. There are links provided where students can hear Mr. Wallace not only tell a little about himself as one is autobiographical, but also propel the narrative. Provided links should be previewed and discretion is advised contingent upon the intended audience. The suggested activities are conversation initiators. The intended use of these activities should facilitate student interaction. Students should journal or write reflections as they navigate through the prescribed readings. This novel has the propensity to facilitate enlightening classroom conversation and broaden the scope and knowledge of issues as they relate to social justice. "Welcome to my world. Take what you need." - Carlos Wallace Sincerely, Vanessa Necolettos Ed.S.

Create Convincing Characters That Readers—and Editors—Can't Resist! It's the question that eternally plagues all good writers: How can you describe the thoughts and feelings of characters who have backgrounds or psychological aberrations with which you have no personal experience? How can you describe the feelings of a drug addict if you've never been one? How can you write about being a prisoner if you've never been to jail? You can do all the research you want, but the question still remains: How do you convincingly portray characters if you've never lived in their skin? In Breathing Life Into Your Characters, writing consultant and professional psychotherapist Rachel Ballon, Ph. D., shows you how to get in touch with the thoughts and feelings necessary to truly understand your characters—no matter what their background or life experiences. She'll show you how to: • Develop a psychological profile for every character • Turn archetypes into conflicted characters • Think like a criminal to convincingly write one • Reveal personalities through the use of nonverbal communication In addition, you'll learn how to effectively use Ballon's "Method Writing" system—taught previously only in her writing workshops—to explore your own feelings, memories, and emotions to create characters of astonishing depth and complexity!

'Simply wonderful.' - BEN FOGLE 'Kate's book has the warmth and calming effect of a log fire and a glass of wine. Unknit your brow and let go. It's a treat.' - GARETH MALONE 'Kate Humble pours her enviable knowledge into attainable goals. It's a winning combination and the prize - a life in balance with nature - is definitely worth claiming.' - LUCY SIEGLE 'As ever, where Kate leads, I follow. She has made me reassess and reset.' - DAN SNOW 'Kate Humble's new book is a lesson in moving on from a tragedy and finding our place in the world' - WOMAN & HOME 'A Year of Living Simply is timely, given that the pandemic has forced most of us, in some way to simplify our lives, whether we planned to or not. Kate wrote it before any of us were aware of the upcoming crisis, but it captures the current moment perfectly... It's not necessarily a "how to" book, more of a "why not try?" approach.' - FRANCESCA BABB, MAIL ON SUNDAY YOU 'What I particularly love is her philosophy for happiness, which is the subject of her new book, A Year of Living Simply. The clue is in the title. Remember the basics. Instead of barging through the day on autopilot, really stop to think about the tiniest little things that added a moment of joy. No, of course stopping and smelling the flowers won't cure all our ills and woes. But taking the time to savour the things that bring pleasure, really being in that moment and appreciating it, can remind you that most days have moments that buoy your mood.' - JO ELVIN, MAIL ON SUNDAY YOU If there is one thing that most of us aspire to, it is, simply, to be happy. And yet attaining happiness has become, it appears, anything but simple. Having stuff - The Latest, The Newest, The Best Yet - is all too often peddled as the sure fire route to happiness. So why then, in our consumer-driven society, is depression, stress and anxiety ever more common, affecting every strata of society and every age, even, worryingly, the very young? Why is it, when we have so much, that many of us still feel we are missing something and the rush of pleasure when we buy something new turns so quickly into a feeling of emptiness, or purposelessness, or guilt? So what is the route to real, deep, long lasting happiness? Could it be that our lives have just become overly crowded, that we've lost sight of the things - the simple things - that give a sense of achievement, a feeling of joy or excitement? That make us happy. Do we need to take a step back, reprioritise? Do we need to make our lives more simple? Kate Humble's fresh and frank exploration of a stripped-back approach to life is uplifting, engaging and inspiring - and will help us all find balance and happiness every day.
