This book explores mind over matter in a digital age and presents the importance of continued transformation of the mind to promote humane Artificial Intelligence for greater good. In doing so, it focuses on the organizational and managerial practices that are critical in creating an environment that supports mindset and organizational growth. The digital age is significantly impacting employees and organizations and steering billions of people around the world. Artificial Intelligence has created a whole new paradigm with a revolution loftier than all the industrial revolutions and the innovations of the past millennia combined. We are either headed towards restoring humanity back to the “Imago Dei”, where creative powers are unleashed in human freedom, or advocating selective breeding and “survival of the fittest”.

Human intuition and perception are basic and essential phenomena of consciousness. As such, they will never be replicated by computers. This is the challenging notion of Hubert Dreyfus, Ph. D., archcritic of the artificial intelligence establishment. It's important to emphasize that he doesn't believe that AI is fundamentally impossible, only that the current research program is fatally flawed. Instead, he argues that to get a device (or devices) with human-like intelligence would require them to have a human-like being in the world, which would require them to have bodies more or less like ours, and social acculturation (i.e. a society) more or less like ours. This helps to explain the practical problems in implementing artificial intelligence algorithms.

A Mind Over Matter is a biography of the Nobel-prize winner Philip W. Anderson, a person widely regarded as one of the most accomplished and influential physicists of the second half of the twentieth century. Anderson (1923-2020) was a theoretician who specialized in the physics of matter, including window glass and metals, magnets and semiconductors, liquid crystals and superconductors. More than any other single person, Anderson transformed the patchwork subject of solid-state physics into the deep, subtle, and coherent discipline known today as condensed matter physics. Among his many world-class research achievements, Anderson discovered an aspect of wave physics that had been missed by all previous scientists going back to Isaac Newton. He became a public figure when he testified before Congress to oppose its funding of an expensive project intended exclusively for particle physics research. Over the years, he published many articles designed to influence a broad audience about issues where science impacted public policy and culture. Anderson grew up in the American mid-west, was educated at Harvard, and rose to the pinnacle of his profession during the first decade of his thirty-five career as a theoretical physicist at Bell Telephone Laboratories. Almost uniquely, he spent many years working half-time as a professor at the University of Cambridge and at Princeton University. The outspoken Anderson enjoyed broad influence outside of physics when he helped develop and champion the concepts of emergence and complexity as organizing principles to help attack very difficult problems in technically challenging disciplines.

Mind Out of Matter aims to transform the way we think about consciousness and the physical world. Unlike many contemporary volumes, it develops a robust and philosophically satisfying account of the mind/body relationship without doing violence to fundamental physics. It expunges popular but ludicrous assumptions about the `in principle' capabilities of cognizers and, with the help of tools from mathematics and scientific fields, supplants flawed notions of representation, function, and mental state with objective and physically grounded alternatives. It debunks quantum theories of consciousness, constructs a simple zombie recipe, and evaluates recent research on chaotic analogue networks. This book is indispensable for readers in philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and artificial intelligence, and for mathematicians applying complexity theory or information theory to biological cognition. Audience: General academic/university libraries, plus university departmental libraries in philosophy, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and computer science. Researchers and specialists in philosophy of mind, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, artificial life, complexity theory, and information theory. Researchers in the telecommunications industry.

Praise for Mind Over Matter Why Intellectual capital is tHe Chief Source of Wealth "Ron Baker has written another great book on the thoughts and theories on intellectual capital. As usual, he has an awesome depth of content, knowledge, and thought. A great read." --Reed Holden, founder, Holden Advisors Corp., www.holdenadvisors.com, and coauthor, The Strategy and Tactics of Pricing and Pricing with Confidence: 10 Ways to Stop Leaving Money on the Table "At a time when the virtues that made America great--individualism, hard work, and free trade--are openly debated by well-meaning politicians, Ron Baker gives us Mind Over Matter. It is a story detailing the triumph of human spirit, imagination, and creativity. Ron tells us what the 'knowledge economy' really means. He gives a prescription for transforming human and intellectual capital into the foundation for sustainable prosperity. Mind Over Matter is a provocative book deserving of a thoughtful read. It is a timeless message to be treasured for generations." --Robert G. Cross, Chairman and CEO, Revenue Analytics, Inc., www.revenueanalytics.com "Ron Baker is an absolute master at challenging the 'physical fallacy,' e.g., the basis on which we assign value to businesses by focusing on tangible rather than intangible assets. This book builds on his previous books and helps the reader understand how critical intellectual capital is to the key to success in the twenty-first century. Ron pulls from the greatest business thinkers and economists,?from Drucker to Karl Sveiby as well as current company success stories to fund his rich gold mine of proof. The biggest benefit of the book is to change the paradigm of those who are the passive keepers of the 'books.' This is a must-read for anybody who wants to flourish in the age of intellectual capital." --Sheila Kessler, PhD, President, Competitive Edge, www.CompetitiveEdge.com "This book helps us understand some of the origins and sources that have led Ron Baker to the many contributions he has made to our understanding of good practice in running professional businesses." --David Maister, author and leading consultant to professional firmswww.davidmaister.com "Reading Ron Baker's book was the only delightful incident that robbed my sleep on the flight to Frankfurt today. It was sheer pleasure--I must have entertained or annoyed fellow passengers with repeated nodding and several exclamations. Baker has a terrific style that captures my mind while he entertains and educates by showing lines of connection between authors, incidents, and theories that I have never seen before. He hardly uses the 'You have to do this and that' approach, which I despise in most business books. I sum it up in two words: outstanding stuff!" --Friedrich Blase, Kerma Partners, www.kermapartners.com "This is a wonderful read for anyone who wants to explore the power of constructive thinking. In Mind Over Matter, Ron examines the power of creative thought over the conventional wisdom that you must make a tangible product for wealth to be created. The opening chapter sets a wonderful stage for the book, which develops the power of the new business equation and the underlying theory of the various types of intellectual capital. This is a must-read book for every business leader." --Peter Byers, Chartered Accountant, Byers & Co. Ltd, New Zealand "Peter Drucker coined the term knowledge worker a half century ago. We are all still only beginning to fully comprehend the implications. In Mind Over Matter, Ron Baker has switched on a beacon for us to follow. If we have the courage to embrace the concepts Ron posits, perhaps it will be less than another half century before we begin to reap the rewards as individuals and as

Is it possible to 'send' thoughts into someone else's brain? Can random number generators predict future events? Why does a placebo work like a drug? Is there a collective consciousness? Even in this age of neurological discovery, the mind is still largely uncharted territory. What if there is more to the power of thought than we have yet grasped? This enthralling introduction, packed with illustrations and feature panels, takes in an extraordinary breadth of topi, with an even-handed approach, sifting fact from fantasy—and fraud. Encompassing the ideas of the greatest minds in Western intellectual and scientific history—Aristotle, Descartes, Newton, Einstein and more—it ventures far beyond the confines of that tradition to address Eastern thought and other ways of knowing, and exploring some of the enigmas that might conceivably be unlocked in the near future. "A smart, dynamic, approachable exploration ... offering a rare blend of compelling narrative and responsible research on the connections between mind and matter." Marilyn Schlitz, President and CEO, IONS

Your Mind at Siege is a bold and insightful book that challenges us to break free from blind faith and reassert our cognitive independence. It shines a spotlight on our learned obedience to gurus, elite intelligentsia, and sacred texts, predisposing us to kneel before the emerging power of Artificial Intelligence. Delving into the heart of consciousness, the book scrutinizes our growing submission to AI, exposing the lurking danger: not the AI itself, but our uncritical surrender to it as a silicon deity, jeopardizing our very humanity. Through a daring critique of The Diamond Sutra, the book highlights how language’s inherent limitations can inadvertently confine our understanding of consciousness. Drawing on cutting-edge studies from environmental biology, neuroscience, and cognitive sciences, the author emphasizes the intimate link between consciousness and our physical senses, challenging the notion of consciousness as a detached entity. Key Takeaways from the Book - Liberate your mind from the constraints of dogma and societal thought control, and reclaim your cognitive freedom. - Scrutinize our growing reliance on AI, revealing the perils of unquestioning devotion to technology as a modern-day god. - Demystify the interplay between sensory perception and consciousness, dispelling the myth of consciousness as a separate entity. - Reconsider long-held religious and philosophical doctrines, spotlighting the value of personal revelation & lived experience in untangling the riddles of consciousness. Your Mind at Siege isn’t just scholarly discourse, it’s an invitation to inward reflection, a rebellion against accepted mores, and a road map for understanding the intricate web that links consciousness, technology, and the human condition.
