MINIMALIST NOTEBOOK Minimalism is defined as a design or style in which the simplest and fewest elements are used to create the maximum effect. Minimalism had its origins in the arts--with the artwork featuring simple lines, only a few colors, and careful placement of those lines and colors. More recently, it has become representative of a lifestyle that aims to remove clutter from all facets of life. In the end, minimalism is less about owning fewer items and more about actively making choices on what kind of things truly matter to you. We exist in a society that creates false value on owning more stuff and having no time to use them much. The constant pursuit of bigger and better is an endless cycle. There will always be a nicer car to buy, a bigger boat, a larger home, and or a faster private jet. Did you know that there's a website for billionaires to shop? Yeah. It never ends. It may seem like an overwhelming challenge at first, but as you untangle the life you built around owning more things, you'll find the stress disappearing and the world starting to slow down. Those choices you make will begin to build a muscle that will fundamentally change the way you live your life. 12 BENEFITS OF MINIMALISM Spend Less | Choosing to accumulate only the essentials often results in financial freedom. Spending less on things you don't really need will cut your financial expenses and increase your savings. Less Stress | A minimalist home is significantly less stressful. Being able to freely move around and enjoy your home is a huge weight off your shoulders. Easier to Clean | The fewer things in our home, the fewer things there are to clean. This makes cleaning a significantly easier chore. More Freedom | The sense of freedom that comes from minimalism is truly refreshing. You will no longer feel tied to the material possessions in your home and you'll feel a new sense of independence. Good for the Environment | The less we consume and buy, the less damage we do to the environment. Be More Productive | Our possessions consume our time more than we realize. Example for my Kids | These are valuable life lessons they will never learn in the media. Support Other Causes | Money is only as valuable as what we choose to spend it on. Own Higher Quality Things | More is not better... better is better. Less Work for Someone Else | Create a less stressful life today and lessen the burden on someone else too. Be Happier | Owning fewer possessions makes you happier. Do Work You Love | Own less stuff. Choose work you love. A Day In The Life Of A Minimalist written by Joshua Fields Millburn and has been published by Asymmetrical Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-11-07 with Philosophy categories.

At age 30, Joshua Fields Millburn left his six-figure career, ditched most of his material possessions, and started focusing on life's most important aspects. Once he embraced his newfound minimalist lifestyle, he never looked back. Suffice it to say, everything has changed in Millburn's life in the last three years. After his mother died in October 2009 and his marriage ended a month later, he began questioning everything in his life: his material possessions, his career, his goals, his health, his relationships, his path in life. Soon he discovered minimalism. In the three years since the author adopted a minimalist lifestyle, he has written more than 300 essays about minimalism and intentional living. He has written about his journey, his failures, his lessons, and everything he has learned during his transformation. A Day in the Life of a Minimalist is a collection of his best, most important individual writings--rethought and edited specifically for this collection. This 208-page book contains 50 essays about living a meaningful life with less stuff, including "The Short Guide to Getting Rid of Your Crap," "The Commodification of Love," "Letting Go of Shitty Relationships," and the title essay. Collectively, these essays are purposefully organized into nine sections--lifestyle, goals, experiments, clutter, relationships, changes, philosophy, consumer culture, and work--covering a variety of topics, viewpoints, and arguments within those themes. Also included are a special forward written by Colin Wright (the man who introduced Millburn to minimalism) and an introduction by Joshua Fields Millburn, as well as two unpublished essays that can't be found anywhere else: "What If Everyone Was a Minimalist?" and "Work-Life Balance." These essays were written to encourage readers to think critically about the excess in their lives and, ultimately, to take action towards living more intentionally. This collection is short enough to be read in a few sittings, or it can be digested slowly, reading one essay a day for nearly two months, applying its principals each day to your own life.

More than forty years after its first appearance as an artistic movement, minimalism is one of the most enduring trends of our times and a firmly established esthetic aspect of architecture and design. In interior design, minimalism can be defined by the following characteristics: simple forms, pure lines, unobstructed spaces and neutral colors. This style advocates harmonious as well as functional surroundings, and banishes excess or any kind of visual 'population'. Despite the strictness of its principles, the increasing popularity of minimalism has toned down the rules a little in order to create more livable and less strict, and ultimately more human, domestic environments. This book offers decoration ideas based on the most contemporary form of miminalism, as well as inspiring maxims of the leading exponents of this movement. -- from front flap.

A Theory Of Minimalism written by Marc Botha and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-19 with Philosophy categories.

The explosion of minimalism into the worlds of visual arts, music and literature in the mid-to-late twentieth century presents one of the most radical and decisive revolutions in aesthetic history. Detested by some, embraced by others, minimalism's influence was immediate, pervasive and lasting, significantly changing the way we hear music, see art and read literature. In The Theory of Minimalism, Marc Botha offers the first general theory of minimalism, equally applicable to literature, the visual arts and music. He argues that minimalism establishes an aesthetic paradigm for rethinking realism in genuinely radical terms. In dialogue with thinkers from both the analytic and continental traditions – including Kant, Danto, Agamben, Badiou and Meillassoux – Botha develops a constellation of concepts which together encapsulate the transhistorcial and transdisciplinary reach of minimalism. Illustrated by a range of historical, canonical and contemporary minimalist works of different media, from the caves of early Christian ascetics to Samuel Beckett's late prose, Botha offers a bold and provocative argument which will equip readers with the tools to engage critically with past, present and future minimalism, and to recognize how, in a culture caught between the poles of excess and austerity, minimalism still matters.

Less Is More written by Harriet Walker and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Fashion design categories.

When it comes to dress, less can most definitely be more. In this striking new book, journalist Harriet Walker surveys one of the most wide-reaching movements in fashion. Minimalism has its roots in the early twentieth century, when women’s clothes became pared down and practical after centuries of complex construction. Walker reviews the work of designers who, over the decades, have adopted minimalist principles in their work, from Coco Chanel, who liberated women from Edwardian formal dress, to Donna Karan and Jil Sander, whose workwear offered women a feminine but credible alternative to power dressing; and from the avant-garde style of Japanese masters Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto to contemporary interpretations by Gareth Pugh, Roland Mouret, COS and Zara. With 250 colour illustrations, including specially commissioned photographs, Less is More is the engaging story of an abiding aesthetic that has subtly shaped modern fashion.

Chomsky S Minimalism written by Pieter A. M. Seuren and has been published by Oxford University Press, USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

Noam Chomsky's current theory, published in 1995, is known as The Minimalist Program and has been presented as his crowning achievement. Minimalism has spawned in linguistics an entire research program, despite being fundamentally misguided, according to distinguished linguist and philosopher of language Pieter Seuren. Seuren's accessible and spirited attack argues that the Minimalist Program is deeply flawed. Seuren points to the original acrimonious split in the 1960s and 1970s between Chomsky's generative grammar and the alternative generative semantics proposed by his followers, and argues that the latter theory was sounder and unfairly suppressed. Seuren maintains that this suppression, and the cult surrounding Chomsky and Minimalism more generally, has done great damage to linguistics by impairing open discussion of empirical issues and excluding valid alternatives.
