Samuel, my dear friend, I say in my mind. Stonehenge, the Tower Bridge with the Tower of London next to it, Windsor, London... Yes, I've seen the city of London. Great city; very busy though. There are many pubs...stop thinking about England... Stop thinking about pubs! Rosa would have preferred to forget about the past, but her mind and her memories seem like a time bomb that can go off at any time. Her only comfort is Robbin. Yet even he cannot do anything when disaster strikes. Now she wants to forget everything and risks danger and challenge where she finds it. Then she meets Raymond, who is a very interesting leader of a street gang... Nynke van Uffelen (1996) has been writing since she could hold a pencil, and she plans never to quit. She was born in Leiderdorp and now lives in Zwolle, where she is in the third grade grammar. "Filled Silences" is her first book and certainly not her last.

Designing For Society written by Nynke Tromp and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-12-27 with Design categories.

Our globalised world is encountering problems on an unprecedented scale. Many of the issues we face as societies extend beyond the borders of our nations. Phenomena such as terrorism, climate change, immigration, cybercrime and poverty can no longer be understood without considering the complex socio-technical systems that support our way of living. It is widely acknowledged that to contend with any of the pressing issues of our time, we have to substantially adapt our lifestyles. To adequately counteract the problems of our time, we need interventions that help us actually adopt the behaviours that lead us toward a more sustainable and ethically just future. In Designing for Society, Nynke Tromp and Paul Hekkert provide a hands-on tool for design professionals and students who wish to use design to counteract social issues. Viewing the artefact as a unique means of facilitating behavioural change to realise social impact, this book goes beyond the current trend of applying design thinking to enhancing public services, and beyond the idea of the designer as a facilitator of localised social change.

Dryland Fish, edited by Matthew MacLeod is the winner of the Chelson Award for Poetry Iowa 2003. The Chelson is awarded annually to the most distinguished literary talent of the year by the Association for Literary Arts, a division of 1st World Library - Literary Society. "The Dryland Fish...what the hell is that?" people ask. I'd always wondered so myself. Actually, until about a month ago I'd never heard of the thing. I had nearly finished sifting through the hundreds of poems I received for a contemporary anthology of Iowa poetry but was without a title. One night I was sitting in a booth at the 2nd Street Cafe ...."Do you have any dryland fish?" he hollered towards the swinging kitchen doors and then, before anyone could answer, stormed out the door, exposing a sliver of prairie sky. I never saw the man again and soon forgot the details of his face but Dryland Fish swam about in my head for days. I didn't know what Dryland Fish meant following week I learned that Dryland Fish is another name for "morels", the mushrooms which Iowans search the woods for, high and low, each spring. For two weeks in late April or early May nearly everyone collects morels which are these large, sponge-like mushrooms considered to be a mid-west delicacy. They sell them across local radio stations, on street corners from the open backs of run-down pick-up trucks and at local farmers markets.....

Design And Anthropology written by Wendy Gunn and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-08 with Social Science categories.

Design and Anthropology challenges conventional thinking regarding the nature of design and creativity, in a way that acknowledges the improvisatory skills and perceptual acuity of people. Combining theoretical investigations and documentation of practice based experiments, it addresses methodological questions concerning the re-conceptualisation of the relation between design and use from both theoretical and practice-based positions. Concerned with what it means to draw 'users' into processes of designing and producing this book emphasises the creativity of design and the emergence of objects in social situations and collaborative endeavours. Organised around the themes of perception and the user-producer, skilled practices of designing and using, and the relation between people and things, the book contains the latest work of researchers from academia and industry, to enhance our understanding of ethnographic practice and develop a research agenda for the emergent field of design anthropology. Drawing together work from anthropologists, philosophers, designers, engineers, scholars of innovation and theatre practitioners, Design and Anthropology will appeal to anthropologists and to those working in the fields of design and innovation, and the philosophy of technology and engineering.
