High in the mountains of New Mexico, Taos has long been a magnet for artists. When writer Valmai Howe Elkins, escaping brutal east coast winters, buys a tiny house without even seeing inside, lured by the way the light shimmers between the branches of an old apple tree, she is intrigued by the startling adobe house at the top of the lane. “That’s the Mabel Dodge Luhan House,” the realtor tells her. “Mabel was a wealthy socialite who became a patron of the arts. She married Tony Luhan from the Pueblo and they built that house. She was the person who invited Georgia O’Keeffe to the American Southwest.” Mabel, born in 1879, turned her back on a glittering life in Florence, Italy and New York to savor the simple pleasures of Taos and her people. Inspired by Mabel’s book, Winter in Taos, together with the extraordinary house and its view across the sage plains to the Sacred Mountain, Elkins regains her health, makes friends and plunges into Taos adventures. The book is an invitation to readers to explore the lives of rebellious women. The author experiences the power of place and a quirky house which continues to create its own magical world.

Forgiven but not forgotten: Mabel's Journey Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. (Romans 12:19) Is it possible to forgive and forget when others intentionally hurt us? The author posits that it's possible to forgive and forget if God is at the center of the rebuilding process ....and the following steps are practiced.... - Praying for the ability to recognize perpetrators' motives. - Acknowledging that perpetrators have issues with jealousy, envy, sense of entitlement, or whatever in your God-given wisdom you determined their problem to be. - Asking God to renew a right spirit within perpetrators, as well as ensuring that you do not possess similar characteristic. - Dialoguing with offenders to increase awareness of the painfulness of their actions. In praying, through God you are able to forgive.....realizing that the battle is not yours...but the Lord's. - Accepting apologies, and praying with perpetrators immediately thereafter to remove the yoke of unforgiveness. Mabel is a young girl, whose parents' reckless decisions dealt her a cruel blow in life. She embarked on a journey, trying desperately to escape a dysfunctional and abusive home, but the journey took her through ill-treatment and neglect. It was only through others that she learned to bask in droplets of mercies and at times showers of blessings. Mabel practiced the art of forgiving, so as to lessen the crippling weight and burden of unforgiveness, but just as she thought she would triumph and master the art of forgiving and forgetting, disaster struck.

Focusing on Black Americans' participation in world’s fairs, Emancipation expositions, and early Black grassroots museums, Negro Building traces the evolution of Black public history from the Civil War through the civil rights movement of the 1960s. Mabel O. Wilson gives voice to the figures who conceived the curatorial content: Booker T. Washington, W. E. B. Du Bois, Ida B. Wells, A. Philip Randolph, Horace Cayton, and Margaret Burroughs. Originally published in 2012, the book reveals why the Black cities of Chicago and Detroit became the sites of major Black historical museums rather than the nation's capital, which would eventually become home for the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture, which opened in 2016.

Socrates In The Agora written by Mabel L. Lang and has been published by McGraw Hill Professional this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1978 with Agora (Athens, Greece). categories.

As far as we know, the 5th-century B.C. Greek philosopher Socrates himself wrote nothing. We discover his thoughts and deeds entirely through the writings of his followers, disciples who accompanied him on his walks through the Athenian Agora and engaged in dialogue with him in the Stoa Basileios. Rather than examining his ideas in abstract, this stimulating little book aims to place Socrates in his physical setting, using textual references to follow his progress through the material remains that have been uncovered by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens since 1931. The author not only sheds new light on the great philosopher's life, but also provides a vivid reconstruction, through following the career of one of its most famous citizens, of daily life at the center of classical Athens.

Excerpt from Mabel Gordon: A Novel Reader, my work is before you; if it only beguiles a lonely hour I shall be glad. If it serves to strengthen the faith of anyone, then "love's labor will not have been lost. If, also, someone should find pleasure in criticising that which the writer, while painfully conscious of his inability to tell this story perfectly, yet has done so with care, somebody will be happy, and to give happiness to even one heart is cause for gladness.
