Leadership books most often cite interviews with high-profile business executives while offering do-and-don’t case studies of different corporate initiatives in action. But some of the world’s most extraordinary leaders work their magic outside the world of business. Their ability to gain the enthusiastic commitment of their people -- when something other, and perhaps greater, than profit is at stake -- demonstrates a fundamental human connection that their counterparts in the corporate sector would do well to emulate. The Art of Winning Commitment presents the unique perspectives of a diverse group of leaders that includes:* educators* religious and spiritual leaders* heads of not-for-profit social services* an orchestra conductor* a professional storytellerReaders will also learn leadership secrets from former Philadelphia 76ers’ executive Pat Croce, former Chief of the Cherokee Nation Wilma Mankiller, and politician and retired U.S. Army General Wesley Clark, and others. In the search for commitment, loyalty, and business excellence, leaders can learn a lot from those outside of the business definition of leadership.

“Always be closing!” —Glengarry Glen Ross, 1992 “Never Be Closing!” —a sales book title, 2014 “?????” —salespeople everywhere, 2017 For decades, sales managers, coaches, and authors talked about closing as the most essential, most difficult phase of selling. They invented pushy tricks for the final ask, from the “take delivery” close to the “now or never” close. But these tactics often alienated customers, leading to fads for the “soft” close or even abandoning the idea of closing altogether. It sounded great in theory, but the results were often mixed or poor. That left a generation of salespeople wondering how they should think about closing, and what strategies would lead to the best possible outcomes. Anthony Iannarino has a different approach geared to the new technological and social realities of our time. In The Lost Art of Closing, he proves that the final commitment can actually be one of the easiest parts of the sales process—if you’ve set it up properly with other commitments that have to happen long before the close. The key is to lead customers through a series of necessary steps designed to prevent a purchase stall. Iannarino addressed this in a chapter of The Only Sales Guide You’ll Ever Need—which he thought would be his only book about selling. But he discovered so much hunger for guidance about closing that he’s back with a new book full of proven tactics and useful examples. The Lost Art of Closing will help you win customer commitment at ten essential points along the purchase journey. For instance, you’ll discover how to: · Compete on value, not price, by securing a Commitment to Invest early in the process. · Ask for a Commitment to Build Consensus within the client’s organization, ensuring that your solution has early buy-in from all stakeholders. · Prevent the possibility of the sale falling through at the last minute by proactively securing a Commitment to Resolve Concerns. The Lost Art of Closing will forever change the way you think about closing, and your clients will appreciate your ability to help them achieve real change and real results.\

Success, to me, is pegged on the 6 C's; clarity, commitment, courage, confidence, chance, and change. If your goals are set clearly and without any contradictions, you have a better chance at succeeding than someone whose goals are not clear. Once you have established clear goals, you must commit to do whatever is necessary to follow through to fruition. Commitment is the mother of success. Your commitment must be accompanied by courage. Winston Churchill once said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." You must gather your courage to move forward even in the face of adversity. By extension, your courage must be shielded by your confidence that whatever happens and even when success is not guaranteed, you have the confidence and the ability to move forward. Self-confidence stirs away criticism and enables one pick up the pieces and move on. Arthur Ashe was right when he said, "One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation." Confidence and clarity when combined become a strong force for success, but preparation for success is moot if there is no risk taking. Man, by nature is wired to take chances. When you are prepared for whatever comes your way, you must take risks to attain your goals. Your desire for success must be so strong that you take calculated risks. Helen Keller, one of the greatest personalities to ever overcome her handicap, once said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Success demands the former and abhors the later. Clarity, commitment, courage, confidence, and chance must work in tandem with change. Success essentially is change in the status quo. The former US president, Barack Obama, once said, "Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." You must ultimately take the first step towards your goal by embracing change and making the best of it. Those who succeed have learned that success involves change and without change there is no innovation, creativity, or incentive for improvement. Successful people are those who initiate change and take advantage of the opportunities that abound in their environment to manage change that is inevitable. In the 33 strategies, I will show you practical principles that will prepare you for success. You will learn how to plan and execute your plans for your own success in the journey. "The 33 strategies" is a comprehensive and valuable tool to guide you throughout your journey to success. It will help you travel the road that was specifically designed for you and help you move forward, live out your dreams, and finish at the top.

What would you rather have-conventional success or a high level beyond success? Dan Clark, one of the world's leading inspirational speakers and leadership trainers, vehemently opposes the conventional wisdom about success. He believes it's tragic and superficial to build our careers and personal lives around getting more money, bigger houses, cooler toys, and fancier job titles. What's it all worth in the end? How many outwardly successful people still feel empty inside? Clark has spent decades traveling around the world, interviewing the famous and powerful; consulting with presidents and generals and sheikhs and corporate leaders; creating a multimillion-dollar business; and (before any of the above) overcoming a paralyzing injury
