The Shining meets The Conjuring in this scary and suspenseful novel “akin to old Stephen King novels” (School Library Journal). The fact that neither of her parents wants to deal with her is nothing new to Penny. She’s used to being discussed like a problem, a problem her mother has finally passed on to her father. What she hasn’t gotten used to is her stepmother…especially when she finds out that she’ll have to spend the summer with April in the remote woods of Washington to restore a broken-down old house. Set deep in a dense forest, the old Carver House is filled with abandoned antique furniture, rich architectural details, and its own chilling past. The only respite Penny can find away from April’s renovations is in Miller, the young guy who runs the local general store. He’s her only chance at a normal and enjoyable summer. But Miller has his own connection to the Carver house, and it’s one that goes beyond the mysterious tapping Penny hears at her window, the handprints she finds smudging the glass panes, and the visions of children who beckon Penny to follow them into the dark woods. Miller’s past just might threaten to become the terror of Penny’s future…

Theories Of The Bargaining Process written by Alan Coddington and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07-05 with Business & Economics categories.

A tour de force of theoretical reasoning, this book presents the most advanced analytical model of the bargaining process so far conceived. Focused essentially on the dynamics of the bargaining process, Coddington's model employs elements of several conceptual constructs--individual decision-making, theories of expectations and their adjustment, and environment concepts--to explain the nature of consistency in a bargainer's system of expectations and intentions. The book begins with a description of the bargaining process in an economic context and establishes an analytical framework. There follows a critical survey of bargaining theory in which the author selects those concepts, which he finds most valid and most applicable to his decision-making/expectation/adjustment model. The internal consistency of a wide class of bargaining models is then examined in a chapter on the relationship between decision-making and expectations. Since the theory of games has been used as a basis for bargaining process theory, the author devotes a chapter to an examination of the game-theoretic approach and an assessment of its value relative to his own approach. The author concludes with a study of the specific capabilities of his own analytical model, with discussion of the possible combinations of assumptions with which the investigator may work. Although stemming from a problem in economic theory and of immediate intent to economists, the book's contribution to the general theory of conflict process and interdependent decision-making make it an important study for students of politics and international affairs as well as management and labor relations specialists.

The Bargaining Manager written by Bernard A. Ramundo and has been published by Praeger this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1994-02-28 with Business & Economics categories.

Ramundo demonstrates that bargaining is the logical substitute for bossing and the reality of the expanded negotiating role of the manager. He establishes that negotiation is a technical managerial skill which can fill the void created by the absence of meaningful management process. To resolve the dilemma that bargaining is inherently neutral and can be abused, he shows how advocacy and other pursuit of personal interest can be controlled by the organization. He concludes by proposing that his effective-negotiation system, shown to be easily assimilated and most compatible with the management process, be institutionalized as an integral part of that process. Ramundo's approach is refreshingly basic in identifying commitment to the organization and effective managerial process as the keys to more effective management. Every organization is faced with the need to improve competitiveness if it is to prosper in its task environment. Management must respond to this challenge by a return to the basics of committed service to the organization and improved operational performance: the core elements of effective management. Management by bargain is a broad concept. It means that consensus development through bargaining is now involved in all of the functions and roles of the manager. Bargaining is the process of the workplace. Bargaining outside the organization has also expanded because improved competitiveness demands cooperative activities with other organizations. The result for the organization is that negotiation is truly everywhere. To serve his organization well, the manager needs formal training in negotiating skills and the opportunity to gain experience as a bargaining manager. The organization should mandate training in the effective-negotiation system and use of the system as the operational adjunct to management process. Manager-negotiators, empowered and motivated by the effective-negotiation system, can serve the organization better.

The Shadow Negotiation written by Deborah Kolb and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-02-13 with Business & Economics categories.

At last, here is a book that shows women how to recognize the Shadow Negotiation -- in which the unspoken attitudes, hidden assumptions, and conflicting agendas that drive the bargaining process play out -- and how to use that knowledge to their advantage. Each time people bargain over issues -- a promotion, a contract with a new client, a bigger role in decision-making -- a parallel negotiation unfolds beneath the surface of the "formal" discussion. Bargainers constantly maneuver to determine whose interests and needs will hold sway, whose opinions will matter, and how cooperative each person will be in reaching an agreement. How the issues are resolved hangs on the actions people take in the shadow negotiation, yet it is in this shadow negotiation that women most often run into trouble. The most productive negotiations take place when strong advocates can connect with each other. Good results depend equally on a bargainer's positioning her ideas for a fair hearing and on being open to the other side's point of view. But traditionally women have not fared well on either front. Often, they let negotiable moments slip by and take the first "no" as a final answer, or their efforts to be responsive to the other side's position are interpreted as accommodation. As a result, women can come away from negotiations with fewer dollars, perks, plum assignments, or less say in decision-making than men. To negotiate effectively, women must pay attention to acts of self-sabotage as well as to the moves others make in the shadow negotiation. By bargaining more strategically, women can establish the terms of their advocacy, their voice, and at the same time encourage the open communication essential to a collaborative discussion in which not only acceptable, but creative, agreements can be worked out. Written by Deborah M. Kolb and Judith Williams, two authorities in the field, The Shadow Negotiation shows women a whole new way to think about the negotiation process. Kolb and Williams identify the common stumbling blocks that women encounter and present a game plan for turning their particular strengths to their advantage. Based on extensive interviews with hundreds of business-women, The Shadow Negotiation provides women with a clear, insightful guide to the hidden machinations that are at work in every bargaining situation.
