"When we receive the key to biblical eschatology, a whole new world opens up to us. The scales fall from our eyes and we see Christ, His covenant, His kingdom, and His people in all Scripture. In The Great End Time Debate, Dean Davis offers us the key." -- Simon Wartanian For the last 150 years the evangelical church has been embroiled in a great debate about eschatology: about the true shape of Salvation History, and about God's plan for the Consummation of all things at the return of Christ. In this book, retired pastor and author Dean Davis seeks to resolve that debate once and for all. He begins at the beginning, asking how it got started and what keeps it going. He answers by suggesting that we have failed to listen to God's Son, who alone can guide us into all truth, including eschatological truth. Making that commitment afresh, and therefore anchoring to the New Testament, Davis invites us on a rich theological journey with Christ in which we listen to the Lord on the four underlying issues of the Great End Time Debate: the Kingdom of God, the interpretation of Old Testament Kingdom prophecy, the meaning of the Millennium, and the Consummation of all things. The journey is no cakewalk, for along the way we must earnestly wrestle with complex issues and honestly consider competing options. But the prize ever beckons: a final ascent to the highest peak of all, the peak where the High King of Heaven grants his beloved Bride a fresh vision of her Blessed Hope, and the winner of the Great End Time Debate.

"The most sweeping and comprehensive book on eschatology that I've ever encountered. The scope of this book is simply breathtaking." -Dr. Sam Storms For the last 150 years the evangelical world has been embroiled in a Great Debate about eschatology, about the true biblical picture of God's ultimate purpose for the universe, life, and man. Much of the debate swirls around the Kingdom of God: What is its true nature? In how many stages does it enter history? How shall we interpret the Old Testament prophecies of the Kingdom-literally (in terms of Israel) or figuratively (in terms of the Church)? There is also controversy about the Consummation: Will our world get better and better, or worse and worse? Will Christ return once, twice, or even three times? When He does return, will it be before the millennium or after? How many resurrections should we expect? How many judgments? What will the universe be like when God finally creates the new heavens and the new earth? This book was written in the conviction that the High King of heaven has given his people certain master keys by which they may know the answers to these questions, and so be fully prepared for the awesome consummation of all things. In it, pastorand author Dean Davis seeks to place those keys in our hands, so that we may behold afresh the simplicity and glory of our Blessed Hope, and thereby resolve, once and forall, the Great End Time Debate.

Wars and rumors of wars, blood moons, natural disasters, the onslaught of terrorism, spreading heresies—the news is filled with reports of such things. But which of them are truly “signs of the times,” according to biblical prophecy? God says, “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come” (Isaiah 46:10). The One who knows the future has revealed much about it in His Word, the Bible. This book contains one hundred questions concerning the end times, answered from a biblical perspective. “How can I understand the book of Revelation?” “What is Israel’s role?” “What is the rapture?” “Should I be worried about 666?” “Are we living in the end times?” We don’t have all the details of what will happen, but this book will point you consistently to the Bible for answers. The student of Scripture should have an advantage when it comes to prophecy: “You, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief” (1 Thessalonians 5:4). Eschatology is a fascinating and beneficial study. Following current events is sometimes like watching pieces of a puzzle fall into place. We know God’s purposes will stand and what He has decreed will come to pass.

Its no-nonsense approach to the second coming is sure to blow open the debate over prophecy and the end-times. Is there biblical evidence for a thousand-year earthly kingdom (the Millennium) ruled by Christ before the fulfillment of the new heaven and new earth? Revelation chapter 20 seems to suggest so, but few books of the Bible are so difficult to interpret. And a discussion of the Millennium branches out into many other theological questions about the end times (eschatology): Are these the last days? What must happen before Jesus returns? What part does the church play? This Counterpoints volume compares three views of the Millennium: Premillennial: Christ will come again before this kingdom is established. Postmillennial: our present age represents that kingdom and that the church is and must move toward the fulfillment of this kingdom. Amillennial: a future Millennium is not a literal kingdom, and when Christ returns, he will usher in an immediate new heaven and new earth. Robert B. Strimple, Kenneth L. Gentry Jr., and Craig A. Blaising offer their perspectives, giving their exegetical reasoning. Each of them then responds to the views held by their peers in a respectful and informative setting, making it easy for you to compare their beliefs and gain a better understanding of how this aspect of Christianity's great hope--the return of Jesus--is understood by the church. The Counterpoints series presents a comparison and critique of scholarly views on topics important to Christians that are both fair-minded and respectful of the biblical text. Each volume is a one-stop reference that allows readers to evaluate the different positions on a specific issue and form their own, educated opinion.

Finally, there’s a book that uses sound, rightly divided doctrine and wisdom to answer all your tithing questions. No longer will you have to rely on opinions, clichés, wishful thinking, passed down deceptions, legalism, or plain ole foolishness just to know what is required of you and where you stand with God. The Bible is very clear for those who want to know. All of your questions are thoroughly answered in THE GREAT TITHING DEBATE. The huge list of tithing questions, compiled over years of waiting for tithing to finally work, hinges on an exhaustive knowledge, or lack thereof, concerning exactly what Jesus fully accomplished at the cross. When the reality of redemption is properly understood, most questions disappear and the once shaky believer finds that, not only is he now standing on solid rock, but has actually become part of that rock. When redemption is fully understood, one realizes that the act of tithing to “open heaven” or provide anything that Jesus freely gave at the cross is actually an insult to the suffering He endured at the cross. Yes, tithing worked in the Old Covenant as a part of the total Law, but has absolutely no place in the New Covenant that provides everything (Romans 8:32) through the blood of Christ. Peter counted such teaching as “tempting the Holy Spirit” in Acts 15. Paul obviously had the same opinion in most of his writings, for those who will read them without wearing their tithing glasses. We may call it an “act of faith,” “obedience,” “doing the Word,” “good stewardship,” or what ever we want, but at the end of the day it is nothing more than an obsolete, Old Testament ordinance that will only “frustrate the grace of God,” as Paul taught in Galatians. As circumcision became “nothing” under the NT, likewise, tithing is no longer obligatory. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to actually have your prayers easily answered because of Jesus’ finished work and the Name He gave us to use? Would you like to know that God is going to say “yes” to His promises without you having to wonder if all your church ducks are in a row? And finally, wouldn’t it be nice to have a royal ring put on your finger, a kingly robe put on your back, and a big hug of approval without having to sleep in the bunk house as a “servant” until it’s decided that you can be trusted? So, this is a book about salvation; something that the church seems to know little about. Beyond forgiveness of sins, today’s church seems to be unaware and uninterested in understanding redemption. This vacuum has left us open to a myriad of opinions, questionable doctrines, and even deception. This book endeavors to fill some of that vacuum. You should get a copy and explore the possibilities of the complete redemption that God intended for us to enjoy. Examine the free preview below and “taste and see that the Lord is good,” even much better than we’ve been taught. Hopefully, pride, a rampant byproduct of legalism and performance, won’t keep you from hearing. Maybe you’re still teachable and open to God’s leading, even if you’re already pretty sure you have a good understanding of the duties required of a genuine Christian. DO YOU KNOW THAT Malachi was
