The Things That Cross My Mind is a collection of poetic thoughts and expressions intended to build people from the inside out by exploring four facets of relationship: About God and me; about relationship; about being single; and about life. Its poetry and psalms are designed to inspire, enrich, and help others approach life with confidence and assurance that they are important to God and significant to this world. Your gifts are needed; He gave them to you for a purpose. The Things That Cross My Mind will help you override societal notions of who you should be and assist you in accepting yourself in spite of what others think. It will also help you to love God and self, and know that you are worthy to be loved. Moreover, the entries inform single persons that they have so much to offer and that they do not have to sell themselves to get what they are gifted to accomplish. Giving clear insight into how much God loves you, the poetic expressions break down stereotypes and other barriers that hinder self-worth. The Things That Cross My Mind will allow you to be strengthened, directed, enriched, encouraged, healed while simultaneously allowing you to laugh and stand.

What do you think of when you look at the cross and the crucifix? Do they hold sacred and religious value for you? After reading this book, your perception may change; the church's use of these symbols has for centuries concealed facts regarding their true origins. The author reveals these findings in this stunning expose. His research includes historical accounts of Christianity's conspiracy and divulges the true meaning of the cross as a satanic symbol. How does anyone 'put on the mind of Christ', as Scripture commands? Can people really get so close to Christ that they not only know his mind but also take on his thinking? And what does this mean for Christian discipleship, the Church, the ordinary person of faith? David Scott, writer and poet, has reflected on this central theme of Christianity over a lifetime's ministry in the Anglican church. He writes with engaging honesty about his personal thoughts and yet brings a theological rigour to his analysis. He combines a down-to-earth practicality with profound engagement with the texts of Scripture. The result is a gem of a book. He writes as follows in his introduction. 'Put on the mind of Christ: what that phrase, with its concentration on 'mind', does not immediately evoke is the way in which the rattle-bag of feelings about things, the heartaches, the heart searchings, the lifting up of the heart have coalesced and been informed by the sharper, tougher attitudes of mind. We shall see, in the case of Jesus, that those two concepts heart and mind, become one orientation, attitude, and spring for action. They also provide one unmoveable pointer for us to a destination we trust in, as we set out to know Christ, and be known by him, and so to enter into a creative relationship with the very centre of our faith.'

Isabella Lilias Trotter (1853-1928) was an artist and a missionary for over 38 years to the Muslims of Algeria. John Ruskin, the famous art critic, didn't believe that ladies could paint before he met Lilias. He changed his mind after he met her and believed that if she would give her life to painting she could become the greatest painter of the nineteenth century. Ruskin believed that if she would devote herself to art "she would be the greatest living painter and do things that would be immortal. " He was unhappy that she was spending so much time on the streets of London, helping with the YWCA, when he thought she ought to be painting. Lilias, however, decided to give up her career in art in order to serve God. She always remained a good friend of Ruskin's though, and they wrote many letters when she was in Algeria. She also wrote several books - beautifully illustrated by herself, including: Parables of the Cross (1894), Parables of the Christ-Life (1899), and a book for Sufi Muslims, The Way of the Sevenfold Secret.

Asians, Christian as well as Buddhists and Hindus, are beginning to feel that Western Christianity has both preached and lived a Christianity without the Cross. Jesus did not carry his cross as a businessman carries his briefcase, or as Christians symbolically carry a well-filled lunch box. Even more seriously, Asians have experienced Christ crucified as crucifying them: This, concludes Koyama, is the most serious missiological problem facing the Church today. With vivid imagery that marked his Waterbuffalo Theology, Dr. Koyama, one of the most engaging of modern theologians, offers a meditation on Christianity from South East Asia which has much to offer the more formalized life of the Western churches.

I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20 I want to tell you what perhaps the greatest Christian who ever lived (the Apostle Paul) thought of the cross of Christ. Believe me, the cross is one of deepest importance. This is no mere question of controversy; this is not one of those points on which men may agree to differ and feel that differences will not shut them out of heaven. A man must be right on this subject, or he is lost forever. Heaven or hell, happiness or misery, life or death, blessing or cursing in the last day – all hinges on the answer to this question: “What do you think about the cross of Christ?” Let me show you: 1. What the apostle Paul did not glory in. 2. What Paul did glory in. 3. Why all Christians should think and feel about the cross like Paul.
