Das Ziel hierbei ist die Entwicklung neuer Ansätze, wobei Big Data und maschinelles Lernen gemäß der Themenstellung als Werkzeuge fungieren sollen. Die Antwort auf die Frage, ob Big Data und das maschinelle Lernen tatsächlich eine Optimierung mit sich bringen, soll durch eine Potentialanalyse gegeben werden. Hierfür werden zunächst Maßnahmen entwickelt, welche anschließend untersucht, und schließlich evaluiert werden, um abschließend die Erkenntnis zu erlangen, ob und inwiefern es sich bei Big Data und dem maschinellen Lernen um eine Optimierung handelt. Um die Forschungsfrage möglichst umfassend und genau beantworten zu können, wurde eine Struktur gewählt, die das Themengebiet zunächst allgemein, im Laufe der Arbeit immer spezifischer auf die Fragestellung bezogen, untersucht. Dafür gliedert sich die Arbeit in drei wesentliche Themengebiete. Ausgehend von den wirtschaftlichen Aspekten werden zunächst die Grundlagen der Lagerwirtschaft sowie die Kommissionierung erläutert und in Verbindung mit der Lagerplatzvergabe gebracht. Im weiteren Verlauf der Arbeit werden die technischen Aspekte beleuchtet. Dabei soll ein tiefergreifendes Verständnis gegenüber Big Data und maschinellem Lernen ermöglicht werden. Auf den wirtschaftlichen und technischen Grundlagen aufbauend wird im dritten Teil die Forschungsfrage untersucht und beantwortet. Es geht hierbei um die Frage, inwiefern sich Big Data und maschinelles Lernen als Werkzeuge für eine optimierte Lagerplatzvergabe eignen. Dies wird durch eine Potentialanalyse, einer Evaluation der Optimierungsmöglichkeiten, umgesetzt, indem die ersten beiden Punkte dieser Arbeit in Verbindung gebracht werden.
