Zuerst wird in Kapitel 2 ein Überblick über die Zweisprachigkeitsforschung gegeben. Darin werden verschiedene Definitionen für Zweisprachigkeit diskutiert, Kategorien der Zweisprachigkeit erläutert und Theorien des Zweitspracherwerbs dargestellt. Des Weiteren werden Einflüsse der Zweisprachigkeit auf die Intelligenz und mögliche Sprachstörungen erörtert. In Kapitel 3 erfolgt eine Eingrenzung auf die Zweisprachigkeit in der Familie. Nach einer Abhandlung der verschiedenen Methoden der Zweisprachigkeitserziehung werden zentrale Aspekte einer erfolgreichen zweisprachigen Erziehung diskutiert. Nach dieser Darstellung der theoretischen Grundlagen werden in Kapitel 4 fünf ausgewählte Fallstudien vorgestellt, die auf Interviews der Autorin beruhen . Diese fünf Fallstudien werden anschließend in Bezug auf die theoretisch vorgestellten Aspekte und Kriterien von Zweisprachigkeit und einer zweisprachigen Erziehung untersucht und abschließend bewertet.

Studien zu schulischen Leistungen belegen seit Jahren, dass Schülerinnen und Schüler nicht-privilegierter Herkunft tendenziell schlechter abschneiden. Die vorliegende Arbeit geht diesem Befund genauer nach und fragt danach, ob und, wenn ja, in welchem Ausmaß sozial bedingte Weisen des Sprachgebrauchs dazu beitragen, dass Testaufgaben - hier am Beispiel mathematischer Testaufgaben der Studie Trends In International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS 2007) - weniger erfolgreich bearbeitet werden können. In einem Dreischritt aus fachlicher Klärung, sprachlicher Klärung und Klärung im Rahmen von Interaktion wird exploriert, welche Aufgabenmerkmale Schwierigkeiten evozieren. Ebenso wird geprüft, welche sozialstrukturellen Zusammenhänge sich im Zusammenhang mit mathematischer Testleistung zeigen. Die Ergebnisse liefern Anregungen und Anknüpfungspunkte sowohl für die Entwicklung und Prüfung von Testaufgaben als auch für die (vor-) schulische Sprachförderung. Anke Walzebug studierte Erziehungswissenschaft, Soziologie, Psychologie und Ethnologie an der Universität Hamburg. Sie ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Institut für Schulentwicklungsforschung (IFS) der Technischen Universität Dortmund und promovierte als Stipendiatin der NRW Research School 'Education and Capabilities' an der Universität Bielefeld und der Technischen Universität Dortmund. Sie arbeitet und forscht u.a. im Bereich des (vor-) schulischen Schriftspracherwerbs und zur Güte von Test- und Schulbuchaufgaben.

(Perhaps it is in German.) is left disoriented, speechless. Giulia This book is devoted to language acquisition in children who have been expos ed to two languages since birth. It has often been said that the study of simultaneous bilingualism is the "most fertile ground" for the formulation of general theories on language acquisition processes, and indeed, most of the studies on early bilingualism aim in this direction. But in a sense this book serves the reverse purpose. Using the results of psycholinguistic research as a basis, I have sought to understand the peculiarities of the process of language organization in the child who faces the problem of learning two languages when other children are learning only one. Thus, the recurring theme of my study is the diversity of bilingual as opposed to monolingual acquisition.
