EQ-5D from the EuroQol Group is a standardised, non-disease-specific instrument for describing and valuing health. It is in widespread use in many countries and has been applied in many different settings. EQ-5D is now an integral feature of many clinical trials and is increasingly used in population health surveys. La maladie et le traitement antiretroviral bouleversent de plusieurs manieres l'univers des personnes vivant avec le VIH. Nous avons effectue une etude transversale allant du 1er Juin 2007 au 30 Novembre 2007 chez les PVVIH sous traitement ARV et suivis au CHU/HJRB d'Antananarivo. Notre objectif etait d'evaluer la qualite de vie des PVVIH. Trente un patients ont participes a cette etude, l'age moyen etait de 39,09 ans, les ages extremes etaient de 22 et 64 ans. Les hommes etaient les plus representes avec comme sex-ratio 1,21, la qualite de vie des PVVIH etait amelioree sous traitement ARV, la composante physique etait plus altere que la composante psychique avec notre echelle de mesure. Les effets secondaires des ARV, la sensation d'etre marginalise, ainsi que le manque de soutien familial, etaient principalement identifies comme responsables de la baisse du niveau de la qualite de vie. Nous n'avions pas notes de correlation directe entre la qualite de vie et la modification de l'activite sexuelle meme si 38,7 % des PVVIH avaient choisi l'abstinence totale. Les patients qui declaraient ressentir un grand benefice des ARV avaient egalement un score eleve de qualite de vie.
