Safety is an important aspect of everyday business operations. It can have an impact on the operations of an enterprise as well as the wellbeing of the workers. Literature shows that SMEs face extra problems in this area due to limited resources and lack of knowledge. A potential accident on the premises, in many cases, has devastating consequences. SMEs make up the vast majority of private companies in the EU and beyond. Despite the importance of the issue, the information found in literature is scattered and often not aimed at SMEs. This book aims to gather the latest information and become the full reference point for designing and adopting an appropriate safety strategy for SMEs.

Process safety has acquired global attention in the 21st century due to its association with workplace accidents and injuries. Employers and occupational health and safety (OHS) specialists have expressed increasing interest in enhancing process safety due to the link between poor process safety and adverse incidents such as explosions, fires, and chemical spills. Such catastrophes can cause severe damage, such as fatalities, injuries, property destruction, environmental degradation, and loss of productivity, putting a significant and long-term financial strain on organizations. Several events have been reported in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the last decade. Some of the unfortunate occurrences include the Shah Oil Field release of toxic hydrogen sulphide in 2009, in which three employees died, another accident in Borouge with a boiler explosion in which one employee died, and the 2017 explosion at ADNOC Refinery (TAKREER) facility, which resulted in the loss of millions of dollars in assets. Many occurrences went unreported due to internal policy, fear of negative publicity, litigation, and the need to protect secret information. Understanding the elements that influence process safety is critical for improving process safety and reducing occupational accidents and injuries. As a result, it is critical to investigate the process safety parameters in the context of the ADNOC refinery. It is also critical to assess the impact of safety climate variables on process safety and employee perception of safety training, strengthening the relationship between safety climate elements and process safety. Data triangulation was used in the study, which involved combining data from focus group discussions, interviews, and quantitative analysis. The hypotheses developed on the research model were tested concurrently using SEM-AMOS path modelling. The findings revealed the significant and robust impact of reported top management safety commitment, management safety practices, and supervisory safety behaviour on process safety, validating all the hypotheses. The study, however, found little support for the safety training construct as a moderator between safety climate characteristics and process safety relationships. The consequences of this study are significant for process safety practices, the process industry and the oil and gas sector in general. According to the findings, medium and lower-level employees evaluate process safety on an overall and dimensional level (employee safety engagement, employees' safety performance and safe working environment). These findings increase a manager's and an organization's management level's comprehension of how employees perceive process safety and tie this aspect to safety climate in particular and safety culture in the general workplace environment.

Global Warming: Engineering Solutions goes beyond the discussion of what global warming is, and offers complete concrete solutions that can be used to help prevent global warming. Innovative engineering solutions are needed to reduce the effects of global warming. Discussed here are proposed engineering solutions for reducing global warming resulting from carbon dioxide pollution, poor energy and environment policies and emission pollution. Solutions discussed include but are not limited to: energy conversion technologies and their advantages, energy management and conservation, energy saving and energy security, renewable and sustainable energy technologies, emission reduction, sustainable development; pollution control and measures, policy development, global energy stability and sustainability.
