Um livro forte, tenso. A morbidez, a melancolia, o pessimismo, a tragédia pessoal e os conflitos do personagem central - Poeta-dentista, que depois passa a ser tratado apenas como Poeta - chegam a ser contagiantes. Um verdadeiro soco no estomago, como Kafka dizia que um livro tinha que ser, cutucando fundo na alma, remexendo nos abismos do espírito. Um exemplo singular desta arte de contar uma história e ao mesmo tempo um manifesto cru e pungente sobre o complexo mundo do poeta como um todo, revelando-nos sua natureza, seu caráter, sua intimidade, suas desilusões, seus sentimentos, seus delírios; febris, belos, amargos ou sórdidos. Enfim, o sofrimento perturbador que habita o âmago de todo ser humano. É possível que o leitor, muitas vezes durante a leitura feche o livro para refletir um pouco, retornando à leitura novamente, pois o livro nos obriga a sondar os labirintos mais recônditos da nossa existência. Duvida-se muito que alguém não saia de A Passagem dos Cometas com a base de si mesmo um pouco (ou muito) abalada; que o enredo não balance suas estruturas, seja a quem for. Não será nenhuma surpresa caso o leitor sinta alguma aflição pelo Poeta-dentista, que tem sua alma desnudada e esmiuçada pelo autor, numa extenuante análise psicológica. O livro é permeado de diálogos sensacionais. Longas discussões, às vezes ásperas, graves, teóricas. Outras vezes agradáveis e divertidas. Há muita descontração por parte do Editor, um personagem irreverente e admirador confesso do amigo Poeta-dentista (aquele que vive dividido entre poesias e dentes). Sendo que a partir da página 117 o autor passa a tratá-lo apenas como Poeta, quando o leitor passará a considerar (e admitir) que seja mais Poeta que dentista, com sua extrema veneração pelos poetas, ardorosa paixão que fica explícita do início ao fim do livro. Discutem tabus, preconceitos, teorias, comportamento humano, focando no existencialismo, destacando a importância filosófica da existência individual, segundo a qual o homem é livre e responsável por seu destino, sem nunca fugir do tema principal: os Poetas e a Poesia. Apesar de o enredo nos causar um certo incômodo por conta da dramaticidade, temas de profunda complexidade, como a loucura, morte, suicídio, etc., o final é extremamente significativo, e inevitável, uma vez que sua sobrevivência (o Poeta-dentista, com todos os seus conflitos) seria absurdamente inútil, não tivesse sido necessário o suicídio filosófico, sutilmente sugerido do início ao fim do livro. O livro é um mergulho no mundo da psicologia e da dramaticidade humana, repleto de reflexões filosóficas e psicológicas que se entrelaçam nos diálogos dos personagens. Além disso, sua leitura proporciona entretenimento, informação e, sobretudo conhecimento. O livro pode ser relacionado com romances psicológicos clássicos, tais como: Dom Casmurro e Crime e Castigo, Machado de Assis e Dostoiévski, respectivamente, por sua originalidade, expressão simbólica do drama humano, análise de diferentes aspectos da vida interior no que tange aos poetas e pelo pendor introspectivo, induzindo-nos a profundas reflexões. Muitos apreciam leituras que apontam referências e este livro é pródigo em esmiuçar a relação entre determinados concei-tos. Há algumas pitadas de erotismo e piadas picantes contadas pelo Editor, personagem polêmico, brincalhão e debochado. Tal recurso estilístico tem um propósito: desanuviar a aura nebulosa e severa que permeia o texto, ao tratar de um assunto tão pavoroso como suicídio e morte. Uma realidade da qual não podemos fugir nem ignorar. Mas o prezado leitor há de convir que isso seja inevitável. Um mal necessário. Uma ponta de punhal a fazer uma incisão, ainda que dolorosa, até atingir sua alma. Chocalhando-o, re-mexendo em suas entranhas, fazendo-o sentir, refletir, se emocionar, chorar, espernear... Remover a capa invisível da indiferença que o esconde. Infelizmente não há outra forma de alcançá-lo. Mas afinal, você sabia que há uma estreita relação entre os cometas e os poetas? Caso não saiba, a leitura deste livro torna-se obrigatória. O autor traça um paralelo entre eles, comprovando, sutilmente e com sólidos argumentos, que há uma íntima relação entre esses dois astros magníficos, sim; os Cometas e os Poetas. O leitor poderá examinar tudo isso em detalhes neste livro que impressiona e provoca curiosidades. Além disso, tem por mérito resgatar a memória dos poetas, perpetuando-os, já que muitos deles estão distantes de nossa memória, outros tantos relegados ao limbo, esquecidos... Estes seres extraordinários que marcaram (e marcam) nossas vidas, vagueiam a nossa imaginação, enfeitam nossos devaneios e acalentam nossos sonhos. Afinal, quem nunca apreciou uma poesia, ou não tenha um poeta favorito guardado no coração? Recomendado a todos que desejam uma leitura de peso, mas com uma ressalva: será necessária uma dedicação extra para ingressar e viajar por este mundo admirável e fabuloso, conturbado e tenebroso. O mundo dos poetas. Mas ao final, com o espírito renovado, terá sido uma viagem gratificante, emocionante e inesquecível.

An Open Access edition of this book will be available on the Liverpool University Press website and the OAPEN library. At the turn of the 21st century, the Brazilian punk and hardcore music scene joined forces with political militants to foster a new social movement that demanded the universal right to free public transportation. These groups collaborated in numerous venues and media: music shows, protests, festivals, conferences, radio stations, posters, albums, slogans, and digital and printed publications. Throughout this time, the single demand for free public transportation reconceptualized notions of urban space in Brazil and led masses of people across the country to protest. This book shows how the anti-capitalist, anti-bourgeoisie stance present in the discourse of a number of Brazilian bands that performed from the late 1990s to the beginning of the 21st century in the underground music scenes of Florianópolis and São Paulo encountered a reverberation in the rhetoric emanating from the Campaign for the Free Fare, subsequently known as the Free Fare Movement (Movimento Passe Livre, or MPL). This allowed the engaged bands and the movement for free public transportation to contribute to each other’s development. The book also includes reflections on the Bus Revolt that occurred in the northeastern city of Salvador, unveiling traces of the punk and anarcho-punk movements, and the Revolution Carnivals that occurred in the city of Belo Horizonte, an event that mixed lectures, vegetarianism, protests, soccer, and punk rock music.
