O livro Estilos de liderança de professores: conhecer para compreender apresenta uma narrativa sobre os estilos de liderança adotados pelos professores. A obra propõe-se a identificar os estilos de liderança de professores, sobretudo da escola pública, a partir das percepções dos alunos. O autor descreve os quatro estilos de liderança de professores, de acordo com a base teórica estudada, a considerar: autoritativo, autoritário, negligente e permissivo, baseado na Teoria dos Estilos Parentais. Tal modelo refere-se à análise do comportamento de professores a partir das dimensões: responsividade, exigência e controle coercitivo. Essas dimensões podem influenciar o comportamento dos alunos e sofrer influência de diversas variáveis. Para a identificação de tais estilos, foi utilizado o Inventário de Estilos de Lidera nça de Professores (Ielp), construído por Batista (2013) e adaptado pelo próprio autor para a pesquisa que originou esta obra. Aborda ainda o quanto o controle coercitivo está presente em todos os estilos adotados pelos professores em sala de aula, mesmo naquele considerado o melhor estilo, o autoritativo, e identifica aquelas atitudes tomadas pelos professores em sala de aula, que os alunos percebem como adequadas ou inadequadas. No transcorrer da obra, o leitor terá oportunidade de refletir acerca das questões apresentadas, que envolvem o cotidiano da sala de aula, a partir de resultados de uma pesquisa empírica, realizada na escola pública, permitindo um amplo debate, de mútuo enriquecimento, podendo contribuir para a qualidade na interação com os alunos.
