My book is about the major injustices that exist in America. I spend time explaining the various social and economic issues that have since become a burden to the American republic. I go into detail about my viewpoints on the injustices that have caused a myriad of controversy and political unrest. I express my inner voice that greatly appeals to how I view things in general for the sake of innovation and progression: how the world should be. In other words, I believe that the sky is the limit for our human potential, so that is what we absolutely need to strive for, even in the most perilous times. America should be a place where people can grow and develop, without having to persistently worry about what devastating tragedy awaits them on the other side of tomorrow. My book is expressing how blue it is for an amazing country like America to waste essential potential by focusing on the trivialities, such as race, economic status, gender, and various other sociocultural categories. My main objective is to thoroughly explain how momentous and powerful we could all be if we worked together as an integrated team in fellowship and harmony with one another. To perfectly sum up what my book is about, I would describe it as inspirational, holistic, and subtly revolting, in the most optimistic way imaginable. I am an idealist at heart, but I understand that dreams have to be turned into a reality for the sake of progression and innovation. I encourage for people to pursue their dreams by taking concrete steps of action and making it an irrevocable reality--envision how great our society would be if people authentically accepted progression, diversity, and individuality.

Asian Americans have become the love-hate subject of the American psyche: at times celebrated as the model minority, at other times hated as foreigners. Wen Liu examines contemporary Asian American identity formation while placing it within a historical and ongoing narrative of racial injury. The flexible racial status of Asian Americans oscillates between oppression by the white majority and offers to assimilate into its ranks. Identity emerges from the tensions produced between those two poles. Liu dismisses the idea of Asian Americans as a coherent racial population. Instead, she examines them as a raced, gendered, classed, and sexualized group producing varying physical and imaginary boundaries of nation, geography, and citizenship. The Feeling Child: Affect and Politics in Latin American Literature and Film compiles a series of essays focusing on the figure of the child within the specific context of the “affective turn” in the study of contemporary sociocultural settings across Latin America. This edited volume looks specifically at the intersection between cultural constructions of childhood and the affective turn within the contemporary sociopolitical landscape of Latin America. The editors and contributors share a common aim in furthering comprehension of the particular intensity of the child’s affective presence—spectatorial, haptic, silent, and spectral, among others—in contemporary Latin American cultural expression. The contributions herein approach this theoretical challenge through an interdisciplinary lens which brings together two burgeoning strands of inquiry.
