The growth of institutional capacity in the developing world has become a central theme in twenty-first-century social science. Many studies have shown that public institutions are an important determinant of long-run rates of economic growth. Se agrupan en torno a tres ejes temáticos. Primero, la reflexión historiográfica y comparativa acerca del pasado de las migraciones ibéricas, abordando cuestiones como las fuentes epistolares, la migración de retorno o la construcción de liderazgos en las comunidades emigrantes. Segundo, el estudio de las imágenes, los estereotipos y las representaciones de los colectivos migrantes, así como de sus identidades colectivas de índole territorial. Y, tercero, diversos aspectos de la historia de las migraciones gallega a América Latina, como la inserción social de los gallegos en la Argentina, la articulación de espacios asociativos en Argentina y Cuba, y el papel de la prensa en la conformación de una esfera pública emigrante capaz de influir en los destinos del país de origen. Todos los ensayos responden a un enfoque centrado en la historia sociocultural del fenómeno migratorio, que busca aprehender sus dinámicas sociales, grupales e identitarias mediante la combinación de la mirada local con la global, de la microhistoria con la reflexión teórica, de la visión desde Europa con la perspectiva desde las sociedades de destino americanas. Este Cuaderno Metodológico aborda el uso, con fines científicos, de documentos personales inobstrusivos, esto es, de documentos personales que han sido escritos sin ningún estímulo exterior, es decir, sin ser solicitados por ningún investigador. Se toma como referencia la clásica idea de la investigación no obstrusiva—inobstrusiva, discreta o no reactiva— (unobtrusive) que en 1966 enunció Eugene Webb junto con sus colaboradores. En la actualidad, han aparecido nuevos espacios biográficos donde la gente común publica su relato en primera persona sobre sus vivencias y sentimientos; se trata, sobre todo, de los diarios en línea o blogs (weblogs, fotologsy videoblogs). Además, se ha publicado una gran cantidad de libros escritos por personas que narran aspectos cruciales de sus vidas, como el enfrentamiento a enfermedades graves o la experiencia con la adopción. Estos libros, que nosotros denominaremos «documentos personales de formación», son un claro ejemplo de documentos personales en la posmodernidad a la vez que un excelente modelo para tratar los problemas metodológicos y técnicos inherentes a la investigación con documentos personales inobstrusivos. Cada una de las fases de la investigación con este tipo de documentos se fundamenta en el fenómeno de las adopciones y en las narraciones en primera persona que sobre este tema se publicaron en España entre los años 1990 y 2011.

This volume is a monograph of the 47 species of the Dulcamaroid clade of the large and diverse genus Solanum. Species in the group occur in North, Central and South America, and in Europe and Asia. The group is most species-rich in Peru and Brazil, and three of the component species, Solanum laxum of Brazil, Solanum seaforthianum of the Caribbean and and Solanum crispum of Chile are cultivated in many parts of the world. All species are illustrated and a distribution map of each is provided. All names are typified and nomenclatural and bibliographic details for all typifications presented. One new species from Ecuador is described. The monograph is the first complete taxonomic treatment of these species since the worldwide monograph of Solanum done by the French botanist Michel-Felix Dunal in 1852.
