Welcome to the 7 Best Short Stories book series, were we present to you the best works of remarkable authors. This edition is dedicated to James Joyce. James Joyce was an Irish, modernist writer who wrote in a ground-breaking style that was known both for its complexity and explicit content. He also participated in the early days of poetic modernism in the English language, being considered by Ezra Pound one of the most eminent poets of imagism. Although Joyce has lived outside his native Irish island for most of adult life, his Irish identity was essential to his work and provide him with all the ambiance and much of the theme of his work. His fictional universe is rooted heavily in Dublin and reflects his family life and events, friendships and enmities from school and college times. In this way, he is at the same time one of the most cosmopolitan and one of the most particularists of the modernist authors of English language. In this anthology the critic August Nemo presents seven short stories that bring the most emblematic elements of the style of this important author: The Sisters, Eveline, Araby, A Painful Case, The Dead, Two Gallants and After the Race. Bonus: James Joyce's Amazing Chronicle by Joseph Collins and James Joyce by John Macy. If you appreciate good literature, be sure to check out the other Tacet Books titles!

Archaeologies Of Early Modern Spanish Colonialism written by Sandra Montón-Subías and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-02-22 with Social Science categories.

Archaeologies of Early Modern Spanish Colonialism illustrates how archaeology contributes to the knowledge of early modern Spanish colonialism and the "first globalization" of the 16th and 17th centuries. Through a range of specific case studies, this book offers a global comparative perspective on colonial processes and colonial situations, and the ways in which they were experienced by the different peoples. But we also focus on marginal “unsuccessful” colonial episodes. Thus, some of the papers deal with very brief colonial events, even “marginal” in some cases, considered “failures” by the Spanish crown or even undertook without their consent. These short events are usually overlooked by traditional historiography, which is why archaeological research is particularly important in these cases, since archaeological remains may be the only type of evidence that stands as proof of these colonial events. At the same time, it critically examines the construction of categories and discourses of colonialism, and questions the ideological underpinnings of the source material required to address such a vast issue. Accordingly, the book strikes a balance between theoretical, methodological and empirical issues, integrated to a lesser or greater extent in most of the chapters.

It's a sprawling story filled with magic, action, adventure and Trondheim's trademark dark humor." -- Back cover of volume 1.

This book is a picture journey that depicts the simple way of life and challenges of the Mbenga people of the island of Corsico. The island is off the coast of Gabon in central western Africa. The island landscape has remained untouched by modern civilization. The small population exists on what they catch at sea and what the island provides. The discovery of oil in 1996 has had little impact on the island but that is beginning to change. Unfortunately, these changes will likely destroy the land and culture. It is uncertain what kind of future they will have. In order to help the Mbenga people on the island of Corisco, a fund has been established to help modernize the small school and give opportunity to the children on the island. Anyone interested in donating can do so by writing a check to "Corisco Island Fund." Please send it to: PO Box 5501, Rockville MD 20850. www.EmilioFontan.com
