This book considers issues of social and ecological significance through a masculinities lens. Earth – our home for aeons – is reeling. The atmosphere is heating up, causing reefs to bleach, fisheries to collapse, regions to flood and dry, vast tracts to burn, the polar ice caps to melt, ancient glaciers to retreat, biodiversity to decline exacerbated by the sixth great extinction, and more. Meanwhile, social and economic disparities are widening. Pandemics are cauterising glocal communities and altering our social mores. Nationalism is feeding divisiveness and hate, especially through men’s violence. Politically extreme individuals and groups are exalting freedom while scapegoating the marginalised. Such are the symptoms of an emerging (m)Anthropocene. This anthology contends with these alarming trends, pointing our attention towards their gendered origins. Building on our monograph Ecological Masculinities: Theoretical Foundations and Practical Guidance (2018), this collection of essays is framed as a dinner party conversation grouped into six discursive themes. Their views reflect a growing community of practice, whose combined efforts capture the most recent perspectives on masculine ecologisation. Together, they aim to help create a more caring world for all, moving the ecological masculinities conversation forward as it becomes an established, international, and pluralised field of study.

Rhea is a renowned psychologist, sexologist and relationship coach. While on a holiday, she meets Rohan, a famous Indian actor who chances upon her notebook and believes she is the only one who will be able to help him with his issues. Rohan has cold feet as his wedding day approaches. But is that all? He embarks on a therapeutic journey with Rhea with the support of her fiancé Siddhartha. This begins the unravelling of many childhood secrets and emotions. Will he overcome these overpowering emotions that have become a part of him? Can he rise above deep, long-term wounds and bonds? Will he go through with the marriage? Siddhartha and Rhea set some interesting relationship goals for every couple. The book elucidates how important it is to destroy the old psychology and develop a new one. A heavy and sensitive subject is presented in the simplest and most light-hearted manner possible. #NewHuman Today’s mankind is a product of the culture of thousands of years. From the time we are born, we are socialized into playing traditional gender roles. Certain differences between the sexes are natural while the others are cultural and social (manmade). The book explores men and women’s relationships with each other—mother-son, father-daughter, mother-daughter, father-son, brother-sister, girlfriend-boyfriend, husband-wife—and themselves. Be it any relationship, there are men and women involved. The kind of relationship we share with the same or opposite gender stems from our very first relationship with that gender, that is, with a mother and a father. And this is what the book deals with. Delving into the dynamics of these relationships, it brings forth a new definition of what it means to be a man or a woman through the characters Rhea, Siddhartha and Rohan.

The Earth And The Sons Of Men written by Kenneth Faminu and has been published by Xlibris Corporation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-08-01 with Religion categories.

The book The Earth and the Sons of Men is lucid and laconic, very easy to read and to understand. It is full of intrigues, suspense, and character manipulation. It is really a religious fiction of the highest order. The author carefully arranges and perfectly rearranges it as to appear mysterious. In the beginning, the creatures of the Creator like the Earth, the Sky, the Moon, the Stars, the Ocean, the Sea, the Day, and the Night are personified as if they are beings. Mother Earth accuses the sons of men of so many vices ranging from warmongering to rumormongering, adultery, idolatry, rape, assassination, jealousy, and arrogance. She therefore warns them and promises that if they (sons of men) fail to desist from these acts of wickedness, she would report them to their Creator. The sons of men turned deaf ears to Mother Earth's advice and committed injustice to humanity and other creatures like the Ocean, Sea, Day, Night, Stars, and Rivers. The only creature the son of man could not mess with is the Sun because of its distance and ferocity. Hence, Mother Earth called other creatures and briefs them on the atrocities sons of men are perpetuating on her (Earth). The author's personification of these creatures makes the whole scenario so fearful when you read and picture the catalogue of sons of men's wickedness enumerated by the Earth. Mother Earth carefully informed the creatures that the sons of men are so arrogant and incorrigible that they refuse to agree that they are evil and are perpetuating evil; she therefore begged and urged these creatures to join her to report these arrogant sons of men to their Creator. She seriously implored them to be her witnesses before their Creator (God). These creatures agreed to be Mother Earth's witnesses because they confess the sons of men have committed so many atrocities not only to Mother Earth, but also to Ocean, Sky, Sea, Rivers, Night, Day, and even the Moon. The systematic religious arrangement and relevant biblical quotations to back the accusations against sons of men show the deep knowledge of the scripture by the author. Mother Earth requests an appointment with God through Jesus Christ in order to present her case. The author deeply involves Jesus Christ as an authentic witness of Mother Earth during the crucial meeting with God, the Creator. Mother Earth, the Ocean, Sea, the Sky, the Day, the Night, the Stars, the Rivers, and the sons of men met with God on the appointed day and at the appointed place to present their cases. The Creator listens very well; he apportions blame to the sons of men and congratulates Mother Earth. The author gradually ameliorates the tension of sharp and logical argument between sons of men and Mother Earth so that the reader could catch his or her breath to be able to see the facts, the reasoning, and the lessons in the book by allowing God to intervene as his final judgment. While God accepts that he created sons of men to be the rulers of all things on Mother Earth, he disapproves the acts of wickedness, arrogance, belligerence, and immorality of sons of men. The Creator's philosophical conclusion makes me shudder and tremble when he pacified Mother Earth and said, "My spirit will not be with the sons of men because of their wickedness, you may wish to know that the sons of men are mere dust, they are taken out from you and to you they will return." The lessons to be learned from this book are many: that men should be free from every kind of wickedness, evil greed, depravity, envy, civil strife, deceit, malice, gossip, slander, God hating, insolence, arrogance, and boasting. How memorable will it be according to the wish of the author if some of our young actors and actresses could come together to make a film out of this book using voice-over on the creation. Dr. T. George, MD

They claimed to be the mightiest men in the world. For twenty-five years, before the outbreak of the First World War, professional strongmen were the pop idols of their day. Performing apparently incredible feats of strength, they strutted across stages and topped the bills everywhere, earning thousands of pounds a week. Fans included royalty, heads of state, politicians and leading figures in the literary and artistic worlds, as well as hundreds of thousands of ordinary men and women, all revelling in the antics of these larger-than-life characters. Seeking to outdo each other in death-defying deeds, the strongmen's performances were thrilling and dangerous: lifting elephants, horses, pianos and their players; breaking chains with their biceps; supporting thirty men on a plank suspended on their shoulders. Some strongmen succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Eugen Sandow, a great self-publicist, was appointed physical culture adviser to King George V. His great rival, the bombastic Charles Sampson, toured the world with his blatant cheating and rigged strongman displays until one day the elephant he claimed to be lifting remained suspended in mid-air. Georg Hackenschmidt, the Russian Lion, was so popular that Theodore Roosevelt himself declared wistfully that he would rather be 'Hack' than President of the USA. In The Strongest Men on Earth, Graeme Kent vividly brings to life the world of strongmen (and women), and shares the stories that defined a sporting and show-business era.
