The Courage To Imagine written by Roni Natov and has been published by Bloomsbury Academic this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020 with Children categories.

"The act of imagining lies at the very heart of children's engagements with literature and with the plots and characters they encounter in their favorite stories. The Courage to Imagine is a landmark new study of that fundamental act of imagining. Roni Natov focuses on the ways in which children's imaginative engagement with the child hero figure can open them up to other people's experiences, developing empathy across lines of race, gender and sexuality, as well as helping them to confront and handle traumatic experience safely. Drawing on a wide range of theoretical approaches from the psychological to the cultural and reading a multicultural spectrum of authors, including works by Maya Angelou, Louise Erdrich, Neil Gaiman, and Brian Selznick, this is a groundbreaking examination of the nature of imagining for children and re-imagining for the adult writer and illustrator."--Page 4 of cover.

This is a story about a boy who is excited for his Birthday. He is counting the days down until the day arrives, when BAM, the countdown stops. All of a sudden Matt is dealing with something called a pandemic. A quarantine. The Coronavirus. All of these things happen quickly, and change the plans for his Birthday celebration. They even change his whole life. The story takes the reader on a journey to experience and relate to what is happening in Matt's life. It will allow the reader to easily start a conversation about the Coronavirus, and the changes in their daily routines that we are all experiencing. Colorful illustrations will guide the reader, along with Matt, on the journey as the pandemic begins. Some readers may notice how the colors of the pages change as Matt's feelings change throughout the story. The casual writing of the story will make the sensitive and complicated issues approachable for small children. It will allow them to feel that their feelings, whatever they may be, are valid and common. This book is written by an author who is a mother with a college background in early education and speech/language development. Additionally, Mrs. Perrone is a special education teacher. Her book will hopefully help children identify, understand and then cope with many different new emotions they have felt due to the Coronavirus. It may also get the reader to feel hopeful, and 'believe' just like Matt does. The book is perfect for a parent to buy to help draw out sensitive feelings or thoughts from their child experiencing the Coronavirus pandemic.A teacher, or even a speech therapist providing services virtually, will also benefit from this book. They can discuss new vocabulary that the child has already heard. They can draw out conclusions or inferences based on the book. They can also discuss the symbolism of why the coloring changes throughout the book. The book would also make a great gift to any child who lived through this Coronavirus pandemic. They are the heroes that go unmentioned. Matt's mom calls him a hero. She realized that his world was turned upside down in a blink of an eye and Matt had no clue as to why. Yet, Matt managed to get through the days and do without the things he once loved. Even at his weakest moment, Matt was still able to be strong and believe things would get better. He is a hero.
