The higher education landscape has arguably become one of the most arduous to traverse. More so in the African context, where a host of variables continiously challenge educators to reflect critically on their philosophies and practices as they engage an ever-changing audience. In this book, a critical engagement with theological education in Africa is offered. As the book originates from South Africa, it is presented as a South African perspective, although contributors are situated accross the African continent and abroad. The common denominator is that all contributers are, in some way or another, invested in theological education in Africa. The main contribution of this collaborative work is to be sought in the insights it offers on four main areas of theological education: A historical and current orientation on theological edcuation in Africa, some paradigm shifts in theological education in Africa, ministerial formation needs versus theological education challenges, and a critical reflection on elective models and methods. The book presents the original and innovative research of scholars for fellow scholars involved in theological higher education as it is grounded in the respective fields of interest of each contributor. It contributes to a better understanding of the complex African theological higher education landscape that is also mindful of post-COVID-19 realities. Methodologically the work draws on a combination of methods, including literature studies, empirical work, and in some cases sectional offerings from doctoral studies, as indicated in the various chapters.

The Tabernacle And The Church written by Abraham DeAlmeida and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-01 with Religion categories.

The temple built by Moses in the desert is the most extraordinary of all the Old Testament ritual types. As a prefiguration of the facts of the New Covenant, DeAlmeida finds as antitypes not only Jesus and the Christian but also the church as a whole, since "Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands, a replica of the true one, but heaven, that he may now appear before the face of God on our behalf." The author, in a simple and enlightening way, presents in this work abundant references to the divisions of the tabernacle, its rich furniture, the materials used in its construction, the four colors indicating the four gospels, the different offerings, the numbers applied to the pieces, the sacrifices, and so forth. These typological riches, associated with the great annual feasts and the Levitical priesthood, constitute precious and practical lessons on how to live the true Christian faith today. The strong presence, in this book, of the number five--which indicates divine grace--shows us that in the tabernacle, the glory of the church shines. This book purports to be original, as it focuses on the subject from a spiritual point of view.

Interconnectivity Subversion And Healing In World Christianity written by Afe Adogame and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-07-13 with Religion categories.

The rise of Christianity around the world has been the impetus for much religious and social change. The interconnectivity of religious centers has resulted in theological dialogue and innovation. The subversion of long-held categories of culture, gender, race, spirituality, theology, and politics has naturally occurred along with the transgressing of borders and boundaries. Yet at the same time, there has been occasion for healing through intercultural experiences of forgiveness, peacemaking, and reconciliation. Stimulated by the work and mentorship of Joel Carpenter, who has done much to expand the study of world Christianity less through focusing on his own research and writing, and more through amplifying the voices of others, the international contributors to this volume from all six continents promote a deeper understanding of World Christianity through the exploration of such related themes. Whether discussing primal spirituality in northeast India, white supremacy in South Africa, evangelical women and civic engagement in Kenya, or Calvinism in Mexico, the contributors draw upon ethnographic case studies to more deeply understand interconnectivity, subversion, and healing in World Christianity. Their essays provoke a reorientation of Christian thought within the study of World Christianity, enriching the current discourse and promoting vistas for further interdisciplinary studies.
