Somos senhores de nosso próprio castelo, ou peças de um jogo de tabuleiro, do qual não conhecemos profundamente as regras? Certamente estamos tão longe de uma pureza racial quanto de uma pureza cultural. Somos todos híbridos culturais num mundo cada vez mais polarizado. As fronteiras territoriais são tão incapazes de impedir o trânsito de indivíduos que querem migrar de um país ao outro, quanto as fronteiras e defesas psíquicas são incapazes de nos proteger das influências socioculturais que tornam nossa alma miscigenada, muito antes do hibridismo de nossa genética. As questões políticas e religiosas sempre foram fatores de extrema importância na formação das personalidades individuais e culturais. Hoje sabemos que também são importantes na formação de defesas psíquicas e suas patologias. Olhar para um indivíduo e levantar informações sobre sua família de origem sempre foi uma prática rotineira na psiquiatria e na psicologia, constituindo fator fundamental nas anamneses, porém as questões culturais têm sido acrescentadas, tornando-se cada vez mais relevantes, pois contextualizar a origem sociocultural de um indivíduo torna-se tão fundamental quanto a compreensão ideológica do contexto original de uma prática política ou psicoterapêutica. Não basta analisarmos as circunstâncias de vida de um determinado indivíduo sem contextualizarmos suas origens psíquicas, e como isso pode influenciar seu integração e adaptação social, sua capacidade criativa e resiliência.

In this book, a make-believe cocaine museum becomes a vantage point from which to assess the lives of Afro-Colombian gold miners drawn into the dangerous world of cocaine production in the rain forest of Colombia's Pacific Coast. Although modeled on the famous Gold Museum in Colombia's central bank, the Banco de la República, Taussig's museum is also a parody aimed at the museum's failure to acknowledge the African slaves who mined the country's wealth for almost four hundred years. Combining natural history with political history in a filmic, montage style, Taussig deploys the show-and-tell modality of a museum to engage with the inner life of heat, rain, stone, and swamp, no less than with the life of gold and cocaine. This effort to find a poetry of words becoming things is brought to a head by the explosive qualities of those sublime fetishes of evil beauty, gold and cocaine. Transconstitutionalism is a concept used to describe what happens to constitutional law when it is emancipated from the state, in which can be found the origins of constitutional law. Transconstitutionalism does not exist because a multitude of new constitutions have appeared, but because other legal orders are now implicated in resolving basic constitutional problems. A transconstitutional problem entails a constitutional issue whose solution may involve national, international, supranational and transnational courts or arbitral tribunals, as well as native local legal institutions. Transconstitutionalism does not take any single legal order or type of order as a starting-point or ultima ratio. It rejects both nation-statism and internationalism, supranationalism, transnationalism and localism as privileged spaces for solving constitutional problems. The transconstitutional model avoids the dilemma of 'monism versus pluralism'. From the standpoint of transconstitutionalism, a plurality of legal orders entails a complementary and conflicting relationship between identity and alterity: constitutional identity is rearticulated on the basis of alterity. Rather than seeking a 'Herculean Constitution', transconstitutionalism tackles the many-headed Hydra of constitutionalism, always looking for the blind spot in one legal system and reflecting it back against the many others found in the world's legal orders.
