In The Inter-American Human Rights System as a Safeguard for Justice in National Transitions, Annelen Micus analyzes the importance of the Inter-American Human Rights System for transitional justice processes in Latin America, with a focus on Argentina, Chile and Peru. She examines which factors influence a country’s approach in confronting its past and addressing impunity. The emphasis is placed on the way countries may overcome amnesty laws with the support of international law in order to hold perpetrators of grave human rights violations to account. The book’s main focus is on the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and the impact of its jurisprudence on legal proceedings and political decisions within the national transitional justice processes in the three countries.

Commentary On The Rome Statute Of The International Criminal Court written by Otto Triffterer and has been published by Hart Publishing Limited this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-01-01 with Criminal jurisdiction categories.

On July 1, 2008, the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) entered into force, enabling the ICC - as laid down in the Preamble to the Statute - to affirm "that the most serious crimes of concern to the international community as a whole must not go unpunished and that their effective prosecution must be ensured by taking measures at national level and by enhancing international cooperation." In this second edition commentary, Otto Triffterer and a number of eminent legal practitioners and scholars in the field of international criminal law give a detailed article-by-article analysis of both the Statute as well as the "Elements of Crime" and the "Rules of Procedure and Evidence," adopted by the Assembly of States Parties in 2002, and the "Regulations of the Court," adopted by the Judges of the ICC in 2004. This substantially revised and significantly amended version considers the jurisprudence of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR); other international, "semi-international," or national courts; and the relevant literature since the publication of the first edition in 1999. This book has been selected in 2009 to receive the prestigious ASIL Certificate of Merit for High Technical Craftsmanship and Utility to Practicing Lawyers and Scholars.

The Crimes Of Love written by Marquis de Sade and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-03-10 with Fiction categories.

'Senneval, you see in me your sister, the girl you seduced at Nancy, the woman who murdered your son, the wife of your own father and the ignoble creature who sent your mother to the gallows...' Who but the Marquis de Sade would write, not of the pain, tragedy, and joy of love but of its crimes? Murder, seduction, and incest are among the cruel rewards for selfless love in his stories; tragedy, despair, and death the inevitable outcome. Sade's villains will stop at nothing to satisfy their depraved passions, and they in turn suffer under the thrall of love. Psychologically astute, and defiantly unconventional, these stories show Sade at his best. A skilled and artful storyteller, he is also an intellectual who asks questions about society, about ourselves, and about life, for which we have yet to find the answers. This new selection includes 'An Essay on Novels', Sade's penetrating survey of the novelist's art. ABOUT THE SERIES: For over 100 years Oxford World's Classics has made available the widest range of literature from around the globe.
