Innerhalb der deutschen Bibelübersetzung des Mittelalters wurden die deutschen Perikopenhandschriften bisher zu wenig in den Blick genommen. Diese Arbeit versucht, die südwestdeutsche Überlieferung des 14. und 15. Jahrhunderts zu ordnen bzw. Kriterien für deren Ordnung zu erarbeiten. Dabei werden exemplarisch drei verschiedene Typen von Perikopenbüchern verglichen, die aus einem Gesamtcorpus von ca. 60 Handschriften ausgewählt wurden. Anhand dieser drei Typen werden Grundcharakteristika der Überlieferung dieser Textsorte deutlich. Die Handschriften werden dabei auch ausführlich in ihren kodikologischen, geographischen, soziologischen, liturgiegeschichtlichen und gebrauchsfunktionalen Kontext eingeordnet. Carsten Kottmann studierte Germanistik, Geschichte und Philosophie in Stuttgart, Tübingen und Uppsala. Er verfasste zahlreiche Aufsätze zur Geschichte der deutschen Bibelübersetzung und zu regional- und landesgeschichtlichen Themen des Mittelalters und der frühen Neuzeit.
