Salvatore Bernocco was born in Ruvo di Puglia, a town in Apulia, situated in southern Italy, in 1961. He works in the town hall, utilizing his degree in economics and commerce from the University of Bari nearby. A journalist, writer and poet, he also is Managing Editor of "Fermento", a monthly publication by the Catholic church, SS. Redentore in Ruvo di Puglia; as well as the Vice Editor of the local magazine "Il Rubastino". Many of his articles have been published in the "Osservatore Romano", the newspaper of the Catholic Church, as well as having published articles in many other regional and national newspapers and magazines within Italy. He also has written many books and poems in Italian. He's the President of Sehaliah, a cultural and yoga association, of Ruvo di Puglia, founded in 2005; and the Co-Founder of the APO Association, the goal of which is the prevention of cancer. This is his second experience in English and Italian languages with the publisher Xlibris. His first book, Insights on Life and Love, was released in 2010. His attempt is to bridge two different cultures unified in poetic thoughts, thanks to the experiences and knowledge he gained studying English from the age of 14.

The book attempts to answer the question: what do managers in multinational companies really do during meetings? Following fieldwork in three corporations in Britain and Italy, the picture that emerges is one that challenges the widespread understanding of meetings as boring, routine events in the life of an organisation. As the recordings analysed in the book show, organisational meanings and relations come into existence through verbal interaction; these are challenged and manipulated in a constant process of sense-making in search of coherence which engages managers in their daily work life. The pragmatics of pronominalisation, metaphors and discourse markers, as well as thematic development, reveal the dynamics of sense-making in both English and Italian. The ‘native’ perspective adopted in Part One of the book is complemented , in Part Two, by a contrastive study of the structural and pragmatic properties of meetings in the corporate and cultural contexts of the British and Italian multinationals, respectively. Finally, the intercultural dimension of corporate communication is vividly portrayed in the experience of managers of an Anglo-Italian joint venture examined in the concluding chapter.

The present book is intended to represent the first volume of a long series, which will be devoted to collect studies, proceedings, and papers in the field of Humanities. The title “Mantua Humanistic Studies” reminds us to a historical town in northern Italy, Mantua, that had been for a long time the capital of one of the most powerful and culturally influencing dynasties of the Renaissance: the Gonzaga family. Mantua has an extraordinary richness in terms of history, arts, and tradition of studies, and is now one of the main Unesco Heritage sites. Among the artists who have left their masterworks in the city, we can find Pisanello, Andrea Mantegna, Leon Battista Alberti, Giulio Romano, Rubens, Titian, and many others. Even if in the time of the Gonzagas the city had a strong history of humanistic studies, mainly established by the great teacher Vittorino Da Feltre, during the following centuries Mantua gradually lost great part of its cultural influence, especially after the end of the leading dynasty at the beginning of the 18th Century. Maybe the only real exception was the renowned “Accademia Nazionale Virgiliana”. Nevertheless, in very recent years some Italian Academic Institutions and Universities have rediscovered the cultural importance of the town, and they moved here with some of their Bachelor and Master degrees: the Politecnico of Milano, the University of Verona and, in 2018, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. More and more students are moving into our old city every year, and the future could really be bright in the terms of culture, teaching, and research. “Mantua Humanistic Studies” would like to be a small – but maybe not useless – contribution to what could be a “second Renaissance” for the capital of the Gonzagas, offered by a small but active Scientific Publishing House which was born and still operates in this small but incredible town.

The aim of this book is to investigate the delicate relationship between female sanctity and madness, in a time-frame extending from medieval until contemporary times. Questa energia, la cui esistenza è stata scoperta dagli scienziati moderni, è lo stesso tipo di energia spirituale che era conosciuta da Elia, Eliseo e Gesù, e utilizzata da loro per compiere miracoli. La scienza sta scoprendo la dinamica miracolosa della religione, ma la scienza non ha ancora compreso il potere direttivo dinamico del pensiero dell'uomo. Tutti i cosiddetti operatori di miracoli affermano di non produrre da soli i risultati meravigliosi; di essere solo gli strumenti di un'entità superiore. Gesù non sosteneva di avere l'esclusivo potere soprannaturale che gli viene solitamente attribuito. Aveva esplorato l'energia eterea, che chiamava il 'regno dei cieli'; la sua comprensione era al di là di quella dell'uomo medio, ma sapeva che altri uomini potevano fare quello che lui faceva se solo ci avessero provato. Incoraggiò i suoi seguaci a prenderlo come centro della fede e ad usare il potere del pensiero e della parola. Chi crede in me, farà anche lui le opere che io faccio; e ne farà di più grandi".. La grande rinascita moderna della guarigione divina è dovuta all'applicazione della stessa legge che usò Gesù. Egli esigeva la fede da parte di coloro che guariva, e con quella fede come punto di contatto mentale e spirituale liberava l'energia latente nella struttura atomica dei suoi pazienti ed essi venivano restituiti alla vita e alla salute. Abbiate fede nel potere della vostra mente di penetrare e liberare l'energia che è repressa negli atomi del vostro corpo, e sarete sbalorditi dalla risposta. Le funzioni paralizzate in qualsiasi parte del corpo possono essere ripristinate all'azione parlando all'intelligenza e alla vita spirituale dentro di loro.
