***THE NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER*** 'This epic tale deserves all the praise that is coming its way. Phenomenal' Sun In Amsterdam, three people die in a canal house, their remains arranged around the crucified form of their patriarch, De Jaager: fixer, go-between, and confidante of an assassin named Louis. The men responsible for the murders are Serbian war criminals. They believe they can escape retribution by retreating to their homeland. They are wrong. For Louis has come to Europe to hunt them down: five killers to be found and punished before they can vanish into the east. There is only one problem. There's a sixth. From the number one Sunday Times and multi-million-copy bestselling author John Connolly comes the most compelling and unsettling thriller yet. The Charlie Parker novels can be read and enjoyed in any order. The Nameless Ones is the nineteenth book in this globally bestselling series.

‘Illusory, frightening, and deeply moving, The Fisherman is a modern horror epic. And it’s simply a must read’ Paul Tremblay In upstate New York, within the woods, Dutchman’s Creek flows out of the Ashokan Reservoir. Steep-banked and fast-moving, it offers the promise of fine fishing, and of something more, a possibility too fantastic to be true. When Abe and Dan, two widowers who have found solace in each other’s company and a shared passion for fishing, hear rumours of the Creek and what might be found there, the remedy to both their losses, they dismiss them. Soon, though, the men find themselves drawn into a tale as deep and old as the Reservoir. It's a tale of dark pacts, of long-buried secrets, and of a mysterious figure known as the Fisherman. It will bring Abe and Dan face to face with all that they have lost, and with the price they must pay to regain it. ‘An epic, yet intimate, horror novel. Langan channels M. R. James, Robert E. Howard and Norman Maclean. What you get is A River Runs Through It... straight to hell’ Laird Barron More praise for The Fisherman ‘Reading this, your mouth fills with worms. Just let them wriggle and crawl as they will, though—don’t swallow. John Langan is fishing for your sleep, for your soul. I fear he’s already got mine’ Stephen Graham Jones ‘What starts as a slow, melancholy tale gains momentum and drops you head first into a churning nightmare from which you might escape, but you’ll never forget, and the memory of what you saw will change you forever’ Richard Kadrey ‘The Fisherman is a treasure, the kind of book you just want to snuggle up and shiver through. I can’t say enough good things about the confidence, the patience, the satisfying cumulative power of this book. It was a pleasure to read from the first page to the last’ Victor LaValle ‘Stories within stories, folk tales becoming modern legends, all spinning into a fisherman’s tale about the one he wishes had gotten away. Langan’s latest is at turns epic and personal, dense yet compulsively readable, frightening but endearing’ Adam Cesare

A chilling case of unsolved murders and mistaken identities unravels when a lake in a Christchurch cemetery releases its grip on the murky past in this exciting crime thriller from the internationally bestselling author of The Laughterhouse. Cemetery Lake begins in a cold and rainy graveyard, where Private Detective Theodore Tate is overseeing an exhumation—a routine job for the weathered former cop. But when doubts are raised about the identity of the body found in the coffin, the case takes a sinister turn. Tate knows he should walk away and let his former colleagues on the police force deal with it, but his strong sense of justice intervenes. Complicating matters are a few loose ends from Tate’s past. Even good guys have secrets, and Tate thought his were dead and buried for good. With time running out and a violent killer lurking, will he manage to stay one step ahead of the police, or will his truth be unearthed? Originally published in Paul Cleave’s native New Zealand in 2008, Cemetery Lake is the first novel to feature Theodore Tate, the “quintessential flawed hero” (Kirkus Reviews) from Collecting Cooper and The Laughterhouse. Full of the clever plot twists and sardonic humor for which Cleave has become known, it is at once a totally entertaining crime novel and an unforgettable drama about the universal battle against the darkness within.

Wanderjahre written by Lutz Kleveman and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-03-28 with categories.

Foreign correspondent Lutz Kleveman has reported from some of the world's most perilous conflict zones, from the Balkans to the Middle East. In 'Wanderjahre', Kleveman retraces his career during the turbulent years 2000 to 2008, beginning with his first job for the Daily Telegraph as a happy-go-lucky stringer in Yugoslavia, Sierra Leone and Chechnya, covering the post 9/11 wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the drug wars in Colombia and South East Asia, and ending in the surreal madness of North Korea. War-weary, Kleveman begins to question how much of his restless attraction to conflict zones was rooted in his family history. Turning his sharp journalistic eye inward, he investigates the story of his mysterious late grandfather Hans-Heinrich who, as a young air force pilot in WWI, was shot down over Russia, and later became a high-ranking army officer in Hitler's Wehrmacht. Published to critical acclaim in Germany, 'Wanderjahre' is a gripping personal memoir and a compelling coming-of-age journey at a time when the world turned mad. Praise for 'The New Great Game' by Lutz Kleveman 'A powerful, compelling book... in the very best tradition of foreign reporting.' Misha Glenny, The Observer 'Kleveman marshals the political and historical facts with authority' Patrick French, Sunday Times 'Enlightening historical background and colourful anecdotes from his extensive travels.' The Economist 'Kleveman's strengths lie in his sharp journalistic eye, and his apparent fearlessness.' The Independent 'Lutz Kleveman takes readers on a fascinating trip ... and tells a spellbinding tale.' San Francisco Chronicle 'Kleveman brims with ingenuity. His reportage is first-class.' Fundamental Concepts Of Architecture written by Alban Janson and has been published by Walter de Gruyter this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-02-28 with Architecture categories.

Architecture is an experience – with the intellect and with all our senses, in motion, and in use. But in order to actually discuss and assess it with relevance, a clarification of terms is essential in order to avoid the vagueness that often prevails when talking about architecture. This dictionary provides a vocabulary that allows the architecture discourse to go beyond the declaration of constructive relationships or the description of architectonic forms in familiar terms like “roof,” “base,” “wall,” and “axis” or “proportion”. The point is to describe the experience of architecture: how exactly does it contribute to the experience of a situation? For instance, the staging of an entrance situation, or the layout and visitor routes through a museum. From “context,” through “guidance,” “readability,” “patina,” “spatial structure,” “symmetry” and “tectonics,” to “width” (and “narrowness”) or “window,” the most important terms in architectural language are explained precisely and in detail.
