Religions are increasingly being regarded as relevant partners in international development cooperation due to their special attributes. However, to date there has been little research into what the special attributes of religious development agencies actually are or how such organisations employ them. What resources do religious NGOs draw on in development cooperation? How do such NGOs differ from other development agencies? Does their engagement make a considerable difference to collaborative development work? Using empirical case studies and theoretical analysis, the contributions in this book address these questions. In doing so, they examine different religions and their collaborative development work in various regions of the world, and chart the most recent changes in religions. With contributions by Jeffrey Haynes, Katherine Marshall, Andreas Heuser, Jens Koehrsen, Dena Freeman, Richard Friedli, Wilhelm Gräb, Ulrich Dehn, Marie Juul Petersen, Claudia Hoffmann, Sinah Theres Kloß, Yonatan N. Gez, Katrin Langewiesche, Suwarto Adi, Ido Benvenisti, Christine Schliesser, Leif H. Seibert, Philipp Öhlmann, Marie-Luise Frost, Adi Maya.

Using a range of international examples to compare the reality, purpose and effect of student engagement in universities across the globe, Student Engagement and Quality Assurance in Higher Education argues that teachers and students need to collaborate to improve the quality of university education and student learning. The growing trend of assessing and assuring quality in higher education is incredibly complex, as there are so many variables affecting both experiences and measures. With case studies from ten countries, covering a variety of cultural and environmental settings, this book focusses on ways of working with students to produce applicable, implementable strategies for universities the world over. Internationally applicable, this book presents ideas from a range of cultures, which can be adapted to be implemented in a variety of cultures. The reader is provided with a range of approaches where both the advantages and disadvantages are clearly presented. The ten case studies consider the macro, meso and micro levels of each approach, allowing for an exploration of the growing area of research and practice that is student–staff partnerships, showcasing ways of working with students to enhance engagement and quality, which are vital for a long-term approach. Focussing on one of the main reform topics for universities, Student Engagement and Quality Assurance in Higher Education is essential reading for educational researchers, institutional leaders and all concerned with the implementation and progression of student engagement and quality assurance in higher education.

Over the last decade, concepts of diaspora and locality have gained complex new meanings in political discourse as well as in social and cultural studies. Diaspora, in particular, has acquired new meanings related to notions such as global deterritorialization, transnational migration and cultural hybridity. The authors discuss the key concepts and theory, focus on the meaning of religion both as a factor in forming diasporic social organisations, as well as shaping and maintaining diasporic identities, and the appropriation of space and place in history. It includes up to date research of the Caribbean, Irish, Armenian, African and Greek diasporas.

Searching For The Common Good written by Thierry Collaud and has been published by Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018 with Common good categories.

This book addresses the heated debate on whether politics has to care only about the question of justice, rights and tolerance or open up to a teleological concept like the common good. Long considered the central feature of the public sphere, the common good was progressively sidelined during the 20th century. But amid ambiguous globalisation and the limits of political liberalism, the common good is returning to the fore. This volume gathers together theologians, economists and philosophers in order to investigate this concepts relevance in meeting the challenges of our time. It argues in different ways and from different disciplines that the common good is what shapes the public sphere most profoundly. It is not a closed concept, but rather a dia-lectic that drives societies and humanity towards more human integration. As such, the common good is a form of hope, hope that what is good for me and what is good for others are not ultimately at odds but actually enrich and extend each other.

This textbook provides a comprehensive overview of identity-based brand management based on current research. The authors focus on the design of the brand identity, which covers the internal perspective of brand management, and the resulting external brand image perceived by consumers and other audiences. The book covers topics such as brand positioning, the design of the brand architecture and brand elements, the management of brand touchpoints and the customer journey, as well as multi-sensory brand management and brand management in a digital environment. Further topics covered are international brand management, brand management in the retail sector, in social media and on digital brand platforms (electronic marketplaces). Numerous practical examples illustrate the applicability of the concept of identity-based brand management. The authors show that the concept of identity-based brand management is a valuable management model to make brands successful. In the 2nd edition, all chapters were fundamentally revised and up-to-date practical examples as well as latest research findings were added. International Public Relations written by Hugh M. Culbertson and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-05 with Language Arts & Disciplines categories.

As a formal occupation, public relations grew primarily in the United States through much of the twentieth century. In recent years, however, it has spread rapidly throughout the world. Broad outlines on how public relations practices differ from country to country have only recently begun to take shape in scholarly writing about the field. The existing literature on international public relations tends to focus on how those working for western organizations --particularly multi-national corporations--can best practice abroad. Although useful, such writings tend to focus on adaptation of western approaches, not on development of new ones designed specifically for varied sociocultural settings around the world. The editors have produced this book for a number of reasons. There has been tremendous growth in the teaching of public relations around the world--enhancing practice in many countries outside North America. There has also been rapid growth in the number of professors who demand theoretical perspectives which might facilitate a unified comparative analysis across countries and regions. Only a few U.S. universities--six documented in this book--now teach courses formerly called "International Public Relations." However, many professors are going abroad to teach and do research. This suggests increased interest in and a need for courses dealing with international public relations. Furthermore, there is a dearth of literature dealing in depth with international PR, an important component of international communication. This appears to be the first book-length comparative analysis of public relations as practiced in various countries and regions around the world. Although existing books on international PR focus largely on ways in which western practitioners, employers, and clients can operate effectively in other countries, this volume views public relations in each country or region covered from the perspective of practitioners in that country. It contains six chapters designed to provide a theoretical anchor for the 14 country and region analyses. Given the intense interest in public relations education as a factor in professional enhancement, it also discusses issues and practices relating to education.

The example of the Alevis of Turkey is used to contribute to debates over the role of Islam in the modern world. It is argued there is nothing inherently secular-proof within Islam, but belief depends on the wider social and religious context.
