The last twenty years have seen a rise in the production, circulation, and criticism of new forms of socially engaged art aimed at achieving social justice and economic equality. In Wages Against Artwork Leigh Claire La Berge shows how socially engaged art responds to and critiques what she calls decommodified labor—the slow diminishment of wages alongside an increase in the demands of work. Outlining the ways in which socially engaged artists relate to work, labor, and wages, La Berge examines how artists and organizers create institutions to address their own and others' financial precarity; why the increasing role of animals and children in contemporary art points to the turn away from paid labor; and how the expansion of MFA programs and student debt helps create the conditions for decommodified labor. In showing how socially engaged art operates within and against the need to be paid for work, La Berge offers a new theorization of the relationship between art and contemporary capitalism.

This monograph intervenes in the long-standing and controversial debate on the socio-economic orientation of the European Union. Arguing that the European economic constitution is pluralist in the sense that it does not favour any specific socio-economic paradigm, it shows that European law allows the pursuit of very different regulatory projects by the European and the national legislators. Mannheim/Wien, im August 1969 Jakob Ebner Vorwort zur zweiten Auflage In der Neubearbeitung wurde der Wortschatz erganzt und aktualisiert. Dazu wurde das neueste Schrifttum ausgewertet, einschlieBlich der Ju gendliteratur. Uber 700 Stichworter wurden neu aufgenommen. Dies wur de durch platzsparenden Druck ermoglicht. AuBerdem wurden Worter der alteren Literatursprache und altere Sachbezeichnungen sowie Worter mit zu geringem Unterschied zum Sprachgebrauch in Deutschland gestrichen. Der allgemeine Teil am SchluB des Buches wurde durch eine Darstellung der osterreichischen Umgangssprache und eine Suchliste Binnendeutsch- 6sterreichisch erweitert. Die vielen Anregungen und Korrekturvorschlage, die mich in den letzten zehn Jahren in Rezensionen und Briefen erreichten, bildeten eine wichtige Grundlage flir die Neubearbeitung.
