Medical Latin In The Roman Empire written by D. R. Langslow and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000-06-08 with History categories.

Despite the ubiquitous importance of medicine in Roman literature, philosophy, and social history, the language of Latin medical texts has not been properly studied. This book presents the first systematic account of a part of this large, rich field. Concentrating on texts of `high' medicine written in educated, even literary, Latin Professor Langslow offers a detailed linguistic profile of the medical terminology of Celsus and Scribonius Largus (first century AD) and Theodorus Priscianus and Cassius Felix (fifth century AD), with frequent comparisons with their respective near-contemporaries. The linguistic focus is on vocabulary and word-formation and the book thus addresses the large question of the possible and the preferred means of extending the vocabulary in Latin at the beginning and end of the Empire. Some syntactic issues (including word order and nominalization) are also discussed, and sections on the sociolinguistic background and stylistic features consider the question to what extent we may speak of `medical Latin' in the strong sense, as the language of a group, and draw comparisons and contrasts between ancient and modern technical languages.

Glial cells are commonly viewed as subordinate players to the functional requirements of neighbouring neurons - in normal as well as pathological conditions. These neuron-glial interactions are crucial for the development, maintenance, plasticity and repair of the nervous system. They are also dependent upon and/or influenced by interactions between glial cells themselves.

Interfacial Electrochemistry written by Wolfgang Schmickler and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-08-26 with Science categories.

Electrochemistry is an old branch of physical chemistry. Due to the development of surface sensitive techniques, and a technological interest in fuel cells and batteries, it has recently undergone a rapid development. This textbook treats the field from a modern, atomistic point of view while integrating the older, macroscopic concepts. The increasing role of theory is reflected in the presentation of the basic ideas in a way that should appeal to experimentalists and theorists alike. Special care is taken to make the subject comprehensible to scientists from neighboring disciplines, especially from surface science. The book is suitable for an advanced course at the master or Ph.D. level, but should also be useful for practicing electrochemists, as well as to any scientist who wants to understand modern electrochemistry.

After relentlessly studying the teachings of legendary healers, such as Dr Arnold Ehret and Dr Robert Morse, we set out on a journey of healing ourselves and reversing our very own conditions. Within our group, we were suffering from a range of diverse diseases and conditions, including Heart Disease, Kidney Disease, Diabetes, a variety of Autoimmune Diseases and Leaky Gut. During our healing journeys, we formed a journal that we would use on a daily basis, and this helped us to incorporate all of the lessons and tips that we had learnt and refined along the way - in short, it acted as a check list. It was important to us to not miss out on any knowledge and practices that had served us well. This journal is designed to guide and support you through your own journey with the core healing protocols included within its theme. One of the key conclusions that we reached through our individual journeys was that whether you are a sufferer of Chronic Intestinal Pseudoobstruction, or any other condition, the same protocol that we used applies. However, dependant on the severity of your Chronic Intestinal Pseudoobstruction, you may need to follow the protocols for longer, using specific herbs in order to achieve positive results, but you can make your own adjustments as you learn more. The great news is that all information and resources are readily available for personal study and application. Dr Arnold Ehret's books can be downloaded freely if you search for "arnold ehret books pdf". Visit rawfigs.com for Dr Robert Morse videos which can be searched through by keywords via the search bar. With this journal and your newly acquired knowledge, we trust that you will also soon start to experience the positive results that we did, along with the many others that send us regular positive feedback. We wish you all the best. The Health Formation Team

The Invisible Wall written by W. Michael Blumenthal and has been published by Catapult this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-04-02 with History categories.

The Invisible Wall is one man's quest to understand the failure of the German-Jewish relationship and to explain the character and attitudes of Germany's assimilated Jews over a three hundred-year period. He found rich and remarkable stories in the lives of six Blumenthal ancestors--all of whom happened to be major figures in German-Jewish history. Jost Liebmann, an itinerant peddler of trinkets and cheap jewels who became court jeweler to the Brandenburg nobility; Rahel Varnhagen von Ense, whose Berlin salon was the meeting place of Prussia's intellectual elite; Giacomo Meyerbeer, a celebrated composer of grand opera who dealt with the antisemitism he encountered by ceaselessly striving for success; Louis Blumenthal, a respected businessman and founder of his town's bank; Arthur Eloesser, a scholar and literary critic in the heyday of Weimar; and Ewald Blumenthal, the author's father. Once a decorated soldier in the Kaiser's elite guards, he was later a prisoner at Buchenwald. By recounting the stories of these individuals within the historical context of three centuries, Blumenthal presents a portrait of German Jews from the birth of Christianity to the eve of the Holocaust, revealing how Jews of various generations tried but failed to pierce the prejudice that separated them from other Germans.
