La Fenomenolog�a comprende y concibe las diversas figuras del esp�ritu como otras tantas estaciones en el camino por el que el esp�ritu se convierte en saber puro o en esp�ritu absoluto. Por tanto, en las diversas secciones de esta ciencia, que a su vez se dividen en varias subsecciones, se tratan la conciencia, la autoconciencia, la raz�n observadora y la raz�n pr�ctica, el esp�ritu mismo en cuanto �tico, en cuanto ilustrado y en cuanto moral, y, finalmente, en cuanto religioso, en las distintas formas de este esp�ritu religioso. La riqueza de las manifestaciones del esp�ritu, que a una mirada inicial se le antojan un caos, son puestas en un orden cient�fico que las va presentando conforme a su propia necesidad, un orden en el que las figuras imperfectas se disuelven y pasan a convertirse en otras superiores que constituyen la verdad de las primeras. Su verdad �ltima la encuentran esas figuras primero en la religi�n, y despu�s en la ciencia, como resultado del Todo. En el Prefacio el autor se explica acerca de lo que, a su juicio, la filosof�a necesita en su situaci�n actual; y se manifiesta tambi�n acerca de la arrogancia y de los excesos de ciertas f�rmulas filos�ficas que en tan mal lugar dejan a la filosof�a y acerca de aquello de lo que debe tratarse tanto en la filosof�a como en el estudio de la filosof�a.

Hegel critica as� mismo la idea del criterio de cientificidad por el mero hecho de que considera que no puede haber un tipo de saber que rechace a otro saber. No hay saber privilegiado. La teor�a del conocimiento va a ser historia de la conciencia.

In this volume, the authors complete the circle begun with Faces in a Cloud (1979) and continued with Structures of Subjectivity (1984) and Psychoanalytic Treatment: An Intersubjective Approach (1987- with Brandchaft). They now extend intersubjectivity theory to a rethinking of the foundational pillars of psychoanalytic theory since they have already demonstrated the degree to which psychological theory is influenced by the subjective world of the psychological theorist, explored the various "structures of subjectivity" that organize the subjective world, and applied the intersubjective perspective to a broad array of clinical issues. Beginning with an in-depth critique of the concept of the isolated individual mind, Stolorow and Atwood argue that this myth has long obstructed recognition of the intersubjective foundations of psychological life. The authors then proceed to a series of chapters that reframe, from the standpoint of intersubjectivity theory, basic assumptions of the psychoanalytic theory of mental life. Concluding chapters on "varieties of therapeutic alliance" and "varieties of therapeutic impasse" further exemplify the ability of intersubjectivity theory to reorient the psychoanalytic therapist, thus providing fresh strategies for understanding and addressing the most challenging clinical contingencies.
